Overall Experience

My mam suffered from dementia and was a resident at Redworth House for over 5-years. She died in the home in February 2022. Throughout her time, she was treated with the utmost respect and dignity, but most importantly, cared for with love. She was provided with activities that met her needs, and even when her health deteriorated, the activity coordinators did their best to ensure she was included. Throughout her time, the staff not only looked after my mam but also showed great care and compassion for my elderly father on his frequent visits. He was always made a fuss of and made to feel welcome, with staff helping him to celebrate important occasions with Mam, such as anniversaries. Staff were highly sensitive when Mam was dying and led me step by step through what was happening, which I am extremely grateful for. Most importantly, Mam was happy and safe, and any minor issues that arose were quickly resolved by approachable and sensitive staff. Thank you so much for the care and love shown to Mam.

Overall Experience

I have lived at Redworth House for the past 11 years. It has vastly changed over this time (for the better) I have been able to decorate my room however I choose which makes it feel like home. I don't want for anything. Whatever I need or request is always sorted quickly. The communal spaces are lovely and the newly decorated lounge is beautiful. The staff are very good, they listen to what I say and help whenever I have an issue. I am very particular about the way things in my room are cleaned and the domestic staff always go out of their way to make sure my room is how I like it. I am a very independent person and I am always given the freedom to choose what and how I do things. I never feel alone as there is always a friendly face to chat to. I am very happy living at Redworth House.

Overall Experience

Very happy with the overall care provided for my mam and dad. Management and staff are very attentive, the rooms and clean and tidy. Only thing to say is that meals can be cold by the time it reaches my parents with them being in a room further away from the dining room which puts them off as they like their food to be hot.

Reply from HELEN REEVE, HOME MANAGER at Redworth House Care Home
Thank you for your review. We welcome your feedback and it is good to hear you are all happy with the care received. Please alert a member of staff if the food is cold again so this can be immediately rectified as they should receive the food nice and hot as they like it. I will also pass this on to the staff and kitchen.

Kind regards

Overall Experience

My father entered this facility for intermediate care following a serious fall and surgery. Unfortunately, he did not recover as quickly and required ongoing support, which was excellent. He was prone to recurrent infections and developed one of these which resulted in him requiring nursing and palliative care. This was provided by a dedicated team, who could not have been more caring and treated him with dignity and compassion until his passing in January 2022. The staff also ensured that someone was with my father as he passed so he was not alone. Throughout they not only supported my father but myself and my wife. I would highly commend the team and the facility as a gold standard establishment.

Although my mum wasn't at Redworth for long - 3 months, during that time she was looked after extremely well. The staff are welcoming, kind and attentive. They kept us updated on mum's health issues and were available to help with any concerns we had. Her room was basic but always kept clean. We are hugely appreciative of them. Thank you.

Overall Experience
My mother was accepted into Redworth House Shildon approximately three years ago. We as a family visited every week. We could see that she was well looked after. clean, room tidy, and well fed.

Staff were always looking in to see if she wanted anything. We know as a family that she received twenty four hour care which we could not do. We are very grateful that these homes are available and at this particular home she was very well looked after.
