I have no complaints about St Margaret's except that it is at the top of a hill and at 80 it can be difficult. More parking would be good.


The building, staff, care and food were all good to excellent. Unfortunately, my wife died after 8 days in the care home and I was otherwise occupied, rather

than fraternise. Staff, when I had contact with them, were all very helpful under difficult conditions.

My grandad seems very happy here and is integrating very well. After 4 weeks, staff have already 'sussed' his personality and interests.
The staff seem very caring and genuinely want to make him feel comfortable.
Management are very welcoming, friendly and are happy to help.
My grandmother is very
happy with the care my grandad receives and loves the dinners.

The care home appeared to us to be safe, secure, clean, modern and replete with affable and incredibly patient, empathetic staff.
There did appear to be too few of these on a fairly regular basis, however; we had to wait for between five and ten minutes to gain access on occasion.
Staff appeared to
be hurried at times, with far too much to do, so that (perhaps) meals and soiled laundry were not removed as promptly as they could have been.
Nevertheless, the home was able to afford my uncle dignity and privacy (as well as respect) in his final days.

My mother moved into St Margaret's Care Home on 30/09/2016 after initial depression because of her disablement. With the help, cheerfulness and patience of the staff, she is now very happy there. She has often expressed how content she is and is very reluctant to move elsewhere. All the staff are friendly
and easy to approach and mum gets on well with them all. Whenever we visit, she is always immaculately clean and well cared for.

Quite exemplary. The standard of care has been at the top of the tree. Knowledge and skills have been superb. Dignity and privacy is excellent and so professional. Facilities are the cleanest and most pleasant in my experience. Family and visitors are looked after with friendliness and consideration
with a limitless supply of tea and biscuits. I cannot recommend St Margaret's Care Home more highly.

I had to get an EMI bed for my mother. From the minute I came to St Margaret's Care Home I knew this was the right place for her. The care she receives is superb from caring and committed staff who have mams best interests at heart. Mam has been supported fully to settle in quickly and without incident.
There is a genuine family feel within the home and mam is extremely well cared for.

From walking in to walking out the caring of the staff are second to none. They cannot do enough for you and nothing is a trouble for them. They listen and are attending to your full needs. The care they give to the patients is exemplary. All in all, they are a crest to this homing facility. Well done

Our experience with this care home was very very very concerning. Numerous problems occurred during my parents' 9-day stay, with one exceedingly serious issue. The care home have responded to my direct enquiries and complaints with inadequacy and after an internal investigation, they have admitted
that they cannot offer an explanation as to how the extremely serious issue occurred. Although the facilities and activities offered in the care home were good, this does not negate from the seriousness of the problem we have experienced and the fact that, overall, I would not recommend this care home to anyone.

Both my mother and aunt have been resident in St.Margaret's for several months, Ths place really is exceptional - it is so homely with welcoming great facilities. All of the staff, the manager, the carers, the chef and the cleaners are so friendly, and genuinely caring - many have worked there for
a number of years. My mum settled in straight away, she enjoys the food and thinks the chef is just fantastic . The activities provided are also thoughtful and well received - mum has enjoyed trips out, exercise classes, live music, a visit from a Shetland pony, and a history presentation about Durham to name but a few. She loves her weekly visit to the on-site hairdresser as well. If you are looking for a care home for your precious relative then look no further.

My mother came into the home just over a year ago. I wasn't sure about her going into a nursing home, as I had seen some uncaring homes. From day one until her death, the care she received couldn't have been any better, she was loved and allowed to die with dignity. I could not pick one fault with St
Margarets and it's staff, saved me a lot of heartache and worry, as I knew she was safe.

My dad was a resident at St Margaret's for three years until his death in December 2015. I'm still a regular visitor as I continue to take part in residents meetings. The manager for three years, has achieved through her skill, a treasured team of staff. As you can see by my ratings that there is excellence
throughout.
I particularly have a special message for the wonderful support from management and staff, showing love and care for my dads last declining five days, and extreme compassion from all staff towards our family at this very sad time. My heart felt appreciation.

The care from every member of staff at St. Margarets care home in Durham was outstanding. First impressions of visiting St. Margarets when looking for the best possible home for my mother was very impressive. The home was very clean and modern. Staff had clean uniform, and very friendly. Nothing was
too much trouble from the Manager and all staff. The food always smelt and looked lovely.
We obviously made the right choice with St. Margarets in Durham, and highly recommend this home to anyone looking for the best care possible for their loved ones.

From the first visit to the care home I have been impressed with everything about the home. All of the staff without exception are courteous and friendly. Everyone, residents and staff use christian names. The rooms are clean and tidy, residents are able to personalise their rooms with personal belongings.
My wife has a wonderful relationship with the staff. The unit has everything residents require. A beautiful small dining room is a highlight. The meals are always of a high standard. I visit regularly at all times of the day and am greeted by a happy caring and knowledgeable staff. There is always lots going on, from arm chair exercises, craft work, entertainment and trips out. There is something for everyone. I am delighted with the care my wife receives and can recommend it unconditionally.

All staff treat mum with care and affection. Standards of cleanliness are excellent. Mum enjoys the food and has choice. She also enjoys the activities on offer and joins in whenever she can. The home has a lovely atmosphere and mum has been happy for the two and a half years she has been there.

My mother has been a resident for six months and I cant praise the staff highly enough. They are always smiling and you can see the rapport they have with the residents. They are very patient even with the residents who are confused. The manager is very approachable and reassuring and make families
welcome. Food is excellent - so much so that my mother has put on weight. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.

We cannot fault the quality of care, the environment and facilities offered to Mum for just over four months until she passed away earlier this month. Staff were caring and compassionate; Mum was treated as a special individual and we as a family felt included in all decisions about her care and treatment.
Sadly she was too ill to enjoy much of the food on offer; the menus would not have been out of place in a 5 star hotel! Her room was spacious and comfortable and we thank everyone involved in looking after her.
