My mum has been in De Baliol Care Home since the 27th of March 2023, it's a big step for her since having an operation. The staff at De Baliol Care Home has been so supportive, every one of the staff has been great. They have kept me informed every day if there has been any change in my mum and what they have done. I visit every day where I can, they also keep me up to date by phone. So far I would like to thank all the staff for the hard work they do looking after my mum.

We have no problem with the care my husband gets in De Baliol Care Home. The staff are very friendly and I and my two sons always get a warm welcome when we arrive. He is very well looked after and we couldn't ask for any better care. If there are any concerns with him, the staff phone to tell us. I always speak highly when I talk to my friends and have recommended De Baliol Care Home. A very big thank you to everyone on the staff.

I can't express how grateful for looking after Dad for his respite. Right from the moment he stepped in the door to the minute he left, you looked after him so well. He felt safe and welcomed. All of the staff made such a fuss of him, which was so important for the time away from home. The home itself is spotlessly clean, both in terms of his room and public areas. Thank you all.

My uncle moved into the care home in August of 2022. As he had always been very independent, there was some concern that he would not settle in his new surroundings but this has not proved to be a problem as the staff have made his new life more rewarding. He is now happy and content in his new way of life and is safe.

The care home is an ideal spot, close to the town's main street, facilities and beach. The staff are extremely welcoming, friendly, knowledgable and professional. They keep relatives fully informed at all times and make constant checks on their residents in terms of physical health and well-being. Plenty of opportunities for relatives to become involved in the range of activities on offer.

The ground floor is excellent, well decorated, residents are happy and stimulated, lots of activities and a really good feeling about the place. The dementia unit upstairs is completely different (understandable in some ways). It is in need of decorating, the carpets are stained. The residents do not seem to have much stimulation, however, residents are clean (although I have had to request my husband has his hair washed more often). Covid has made things difficult and therefore it is hard to judge properly. The staff are always friendly, cooperative and have a good rapport with my husband who appears content and well looked after.

My mam is very happy in De Baliol and treated with the greatest respect and dignity staff are all lovely and are always happy to have a word with mam and she is always made to feel she is not alone and there is always someone to talk to. Although mam is peg food, the food always looks delicious and well presented. I am always made to feel welcome when I come with my family. Thank you.

My grandma is always made a fuss of. All the staff are kind and polite and always make time for my children as well. We are always asked if we would like refreshments as well as the children. My grandma has been through a rough nearly 2 years but is now happy as she can be emotionally. I believe that the care and support my grandma has received is why she is still here today.

Polite and friendly staff. Clean and easy to find places to go. They offer a good range of activities in the home that I know for one, my grandma enjoys.

The staff here are very empathetic which is refreshing to see in a care/nursing home as you can tell they care more for the happiness of the residents opposed to the situation he/she is in.

Review from Lee R (Grandson of Resident) published on 9 April 2019 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience

As a widowed dementia sufferer, my Grandad initially stayed for a couple of respite visits which then developed by his own request to him becoming a full-time resident. Each member of staff works so hard and all took the time to build up a great rapport with him to make him feel special and part of their community.

As his condition had worsened he'd withdrawn from many aspects of life in his own home but due to the lovely environment at De Baliol, he got back his spark and lived life to the full again, taking part in a wide range of activities that were very thoughtfully arranged for the residents.

Unfortunately, his residency was quite short as he passed away in hospital due to ongoing health conditions after only a couple of months, but the family are all so grateful to the manager and her entire team for making last chapter of his life such a happy one. For anyone looking for residential care for a family member, we can not recommend De Baliol enough.

Reply from Howard Emanuel, RM at De Baliol Care Home

Thank you, Lee, for your review. We are incredibly proud of the care delivered at De Baliol and are happy to know that your grandad’s time at the home was one that restored his spark.

Really good quality and care of my father. Staff are caring and well well informed of my father's needs. My father feels safe and secure and I feel that he is being well fed and kept very clean. His dignity is maintained at all times. In short, I am very happy with the care provided by ALL the team at De Baliol Court Nursing & Residential Care Home.
