Since I arrived here just over a year ago, the staff have all been very supportive. I found having to ask for help with my personal care difficult, but without exception, the carers assured me that any help I needed would be given. This is my home now and I am very happy here.

I think the manor is a wonderful care home. The staff are so dedicated, nothing is a bother to them. Diet-wise, the chef caters to the resident's choices as best he can. The activities are second to none, always something different for the residents to do, people bringing in dogs for the residents to pat. All kinds of entertainment to suit all tastes are happy with their care. The decor and cleanliness of the home is second to none. The fresh flowers in reception are gorgeous. Matron is very approachable for any information.

As a family, we are very happy with the care provided to our mother. The home manager and the team are genuinely caring, kind and professional people. The care home is clean, light and airy with a lovely friendly ambience. Care is provided with a nothing is too much trouble attitude and a happy and kind approach. Residents and relatives are treated kindly in this wonderfully caring home.

My aunt had spent thirteen years at Ponteland Manor. She needed very little care on arrival but her needs increased with time despite her retaining her fierce independence. She was happy and well looked after. When the end came she was still treated with dignity and their support and compassion for my aunt and for me was outstanding.

My grandmother is so happy here. She has a new family. She loves all of the staff. She says she thinks she's died and gone to heaven, what can I say when she's as happy as this. Thank you so much to all of the staff who make her feel like this.

My mother moved into Ponteland Manor in September 2021.
In my opinion, Ponteland Manor is fantastic and Mum seems quite content there.
I’m always made to feel very welcome and coffee or lunch is always presented beautifully. This is very important for my Mum and does not come unnoticed.

The manager runs a tight ship and the staff are very caring activities are great it is a very happy environment I need to get my name down but I’m only 62 so think it will be a while yet.

This is a lovely home with exceptional staff who really do seem to care about the residents. It is a very clean home with an excellent kitchen. The home offers residents an excellent range of games and services and a very good range of performers. I really do feel most welcome when I come and visit my mother, with or without my dog.

I needed somewhere as a matter of extreme urgency for my dear Mum, who was in hospital. We needed a peaceful place for her to die. Management and all staff were exemplary - so very kind, caring and supportive. They totally understood our needs and delivered with true professionalism and complete compassion. Lead beautifully from the helm, right through to the domestic. Wonderful experience. Thank you.

My connection with the care home started in 2011 when my mother and father were admitted. My mother-in-law was also admitted in 2016 during these 8 years I have seen quite a few staff changes but overall the standard of care has been high. Only my mother remains in care and despite the many difficulties, the staff take the time and effort to maintain a high standard of support. I cannot praise them enough.

Paula Routledge
Paula RoutledgeJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2019

I have a degree in community health and a leadership management qualification from ILM, as well as a Level 4 in dementia care from Worcester University.

Before joining the care industry, I was the CQC-registered manager as Head of Healthcare at a male prison for 1,400 people, overseeing all aspects of primary care, secondary care and mental health substance misuse services.

I came to work at Care UK after spending a year nursing my father with a terminal illness. He had been in and out of palliative respite care, and I decided that I wanted to explore this as a career where I could give something back.

In my role as Home Manager, it’s important to have empathy and understanding and to be organised, dedicated, empowered and passionate.

My favourite part of any day is my walk around when I go and speak to residents to see how they are and try to make them smile. I am also partial to getting involved in activities with residents. I find it very therapeutic during a busy day.

At the end of the day, ensuring we deliver the best care and making the residents and their families happy, so they are always smiling and all their wishes come to fruition, is the most important part of my role. I feel proud when I see the residents happy and smiling.

I’m a very social person, and outside of work, I love to meet with friends and enjoy meals out. I love a trip to the cinema and am partial to a shopping trip too.
