Would love to see more of this where residents and carers are one, not isolated away from each other, or residents asleep with heads on tables or their knees. Visitors find this most upsetting. Compassion human touch and interaction must overrule boredom. Praise was given to the new management, staff, new ideas, and new refurbishment. Although would love more bedrooms (Mam's) to be refurbished too, as well as the staircase. Praise also given to all the regular stoic staff who have braved the last two years of covid restrictions. Senior carers are always informative and listen well to any concerns. Special mention to the activities coordinator who has introduced some fabulous activities, visitors, entertainers, crafting sessions, outings etc., providing hands-on activities in which residents can experience one to one or in a group situation. These wonderful experiences need to be shared with families through newsletters/emails or posters in the porch.
Thank you for your lovely review and feedback, we are very pleased to hear that you, and your Mum, are happy with us at Red Brick House.
My mother went to live at Redbrick House following severe dementia. She was both physically and mentally incapacitated and has resided there for approximately nine years until her recent death. Her care has been exceptional. Staff are kind, caring, approachable, often local to the area and many stay employed there for many years giving excellent continuity of care, and leadership is given by Registered Nurses present on every shift. Good food is cooked on the premises. Attention is given to activities with events co-ordinators both individual and group activities. My mother received excellent end of life care.
Thank you all.
Got told everything regarding my husband, including his care, nursing care, and outside medical assistance ie. District Nurse, GP. Management is excellent, always willing to answer any questions I put to them fully. Cannot fault the care at all.
My grandad transferred from London to Red Brick House in August 2021, the staff at Red Brick welcomed him and our family with open arms, as time went on my grandad needs became more complex and the nursing staff and care staff ensured that they did everything they could for him making sure he was comfortable, The staff at Red Brick were so supportive during the hard times, showing care and compassion throughout. I would like to thank every one of them who care for my grandad in the last few months of his life.
This care home is a very mind-numbing home to place a resident in. I would give it no stars if I could. Some staff are very rude when asked about care. Had major issues with security on the home as a resident was able to just walk out and go home during COVID. This happened more than once. Very hard to get staff to ring you back when needed. Rooms are basic. Residents sometimes wear other's clothes, even though you put name tags on. Food is okay. Very small garden which only a small amount get to use this. I really wouldn’t place my dog in here for a week never mind a family member, shocking service!
Thank you for your review. Although versions differ with regards to the points mentioned, we take all feedback seriously and are currently investigating each alleged complaint seriously.
Many thanks.
I have found the atmosphere at Red Brick House to be very welcoming and friendly. The staff are all lovely and treat the residents and their relations with kindness and dignity. The management team are very helpful, professional and deliver a high standard of care. I am also very impressed with the measures put in place during the pandemic.
Many Thanks, Francesca
Settled in well, well looked after, good staff and food is good. Chef gets the things we like if we ask for it, could do with a bit more at supper time, yoghurts! Good cup of coffee from one of the staff in the morning.
Thank you Eleanor for your response. I will liaise with the chef to review the supper.
I have only visited my husband three times since his admission last April. Covid has prevented visiting, therefore an accurate review of the Red Brick House is very difficult to do. The staff have always been courteous and helpful and I am sure that my husband is cared for in a kind and respectful way. He is not able to communicate so I am making an observational report. I would like to see the room decorated and holes in the wall mended effectively. I am going to provide much nicer curtains too. Please contact me as I would like to discuss this with them.
Thank you for your review and I am happy to hear your positive comments about Red Brick House. I will certainly pass this feedback on to the home and ask them to make contact, we appreciate all your comments and look forward to speaking with you soon.
It is good to have a nice room, my food prep is done for me. My shopping is done, my medication is given to me regularly. As a resident, I feel I must try to be independent and I wonder if I get the full medical help the house provides. I could be happier with more input from outside friends, my GP and the NHS.
Settled in well and I am happy about that. Happy with the meals, plenty of choices. Staff is really good.
My brother is on end of life care and I have found only care and compassion from all at Red Brick House. The only option I cannot comment on is activities.
Margaret, we would like to thank you for your kind words and fantastic review. Many thanks.
Dad moved to Red Brick House from another care home and the difference in the level of care is huge. He has gone from regular weekly falls to none! Due to the excellent observation of the staff. Call bells are answered promptly and dignity is maintained at all times. The home is clean and welcoming and the activity coordinator is inspirational able to engage with all the residents with ease. I would not hesitate to recommend this home.
The main reason for selecting Red Brick House for our mother was the quality of care and throughout her time there she was treated with great care and dignity. All the staff were kind and friendly, not just the nursing staff. Despite the pressures of their busy jobs the staff all had a good relationship with visiting family members and kept us fully informed of any changes in my mother's condition.
My mother was a resident for nearly 2 and a half years, becoming increasingly frail and confused latterly. Their care was appropriate throughout. She was treated with respect and her dignity maintained throughout. All staff from the manager down were excellent. The rooms were on the small side, but the care more than compensated for this. Care during her terminal illness was first class.
From the moment I entered the home to visit I was treated very well by staff. Firstly by taking me to see my friend and finding a quiet spot for us to sit. Other residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect. All members of staff are approachable and helpful.
