Dene Grange Care Home

Dene Grange is such a wonderful care home - strongly led, with such a wonderfully caring team. I have been a nurse for 35 years, and so I can say that from both a professional perspective - and from a daughter of a much-loved father, I am delighted with the care he receives. He is cared for with dignity, respect and love. All vital - from carers who genuinely seem to enjoy their work. Thank God for places and people like this. You are all amazing.

Dene Grange is a very clean home. The staff are dedicated and whatever the carers are paid, it isn't enough. They're all very approachable and hardworking. They treat residents very well, and with dignity. The manager and nurses are really good at their jobs too and try to solve any problems swiftly. The room for my partner is just right. Perfect size with her own W.C. and sink. The food is really good. Lots of vegetables and the roasts look beautiful. Tea time is very varied too. Burgers, pasta, soups and lots of other choices. The home is secure and definitely worth what we pay. I can relax knowing she is well looked after. There are lots of varied activities and entertainment too.

I must also add we are so lucky to have Dene Grange in Hexham.

Moving a loved one into a residential care home is a stressful and emotional time but I have to say the home manager put my mind at ease very quickly, my husband settled in almost immediately saying he feels relaxed and not frightened at all. All the staff are caring, helpful and spend time with the person they are attending to. I cannot speak more highly of them, my whole family are grateful for the care and support from the team at Dene Grange.

Transitioning a loved one into care can be an emotional and uncertain time, but our experience with Dene Grange has been nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, the home manager and her dedicated team have gone above and beyond to ensure that my Father felt welcomed, respected, and truly cared for.

What could have been a stressful and difficult adjustment was instead made smooth and reassuring, not just for my Father, but for my Mother too. The staff's compassion, patience, and professionalism have been evident in every interaction. They've taken the time to get to know my Father as an individual, understanding his needs and preferences, and have supported him with warmth and dignity.

The home manager leads by example, fostering a culture of kindness and attentiveness that permeates the entire home. Her team is consistently approachable, communicative, and proactive, which has given our family great peace of mind.

Staff put a huge effort into making all the residents feel at 'home' and as happy and comfortable as is possible. Rooms and facilities are immaculate and clean. The range of quality of all meals is to a very high standard. I rate this care home with 5 stars!

Very welcoming, clean and well-kept environment. The staff are very friendly, professional and caring. Management is always approachable and helpful. As a family, we are very happy with the care and compassion shown.

My mam who has dementia moved into Dene Grange a couple of months ago from another care home. The move was seamless and she settled in straight away. We are very happy with the care at Dene Grange and the leadership provided by the Manager. The team have an excellent understanding of my mam's needs and provide a welcoming, warm, friendly, happy and caring home from home. Above all else the most important aspect when choosing a home for mam has been the staffs commitment to care and that is very plain to see. If you are having to make the very difficult decision for your loved one to go into care, look no further.

Mom has been a resident at Dene Grange for nearly 2 years now and I'm so glad this was where I picked for Mom to have her twilight years. The staff are all so friendly and caring, activities and events keep them all entertained, Mom is challenging in lots of ways with her dementia but her carer especially finds the best way to approach Mom to make sure she keeps hygiene and medication as it should be. The management team are always ready to chat if you have any concerns or need reassurance, I struggle with visiting now as I'm in out if the area and run pubs so can't visit as often as I'd like, I never get made to feel like I'm letting Mom down. The manager will ring me and keep me informed of any changes or updates so I know what's going on day to day. All in all, Dene Grange is a family for your loved ones when you can't be there, don't hesitate in making it your choice

My mother in law, settled in really well, the staff were very welcoming and took their time to find out what she liked to do and made sure she was happy. We were able to personalise her room and make it more familiar, taking in photos, bedding and some furniture. The staff are very friendly and there are activities to do as well as help to do things on a one to one basis.

This review is for the families who have to for various reasons place their loved ones family or friends in a safe, professional and caring environment when we are unable to do this for them. Please have no fear Dene Grange Care Home tick every one of these boxes as outstanding. I was welcomed reassured and supported all the way in handing my sister to them. She is happy and safe and is being nurtured and cared for. Thank you.

I cannot speak too highly enough of the care my husband is receiving at Dene Grange. My husband was moved from a home in Newcastle where the care and treatment was a disgrace. He has settled well more responsive and much calmer. Personal hygiene is carried out with dignity, and laundry is attended to promptly and I always find him clean and respectable. Obviously, his world has been turned upside down. However, he is now in a safe place. In my opinion, management and staff looking after him care about the residents it's not just a job. They genuinely want to do as much as possible to help those who unfortunately cannot look after themselves.

My husband has been in Dene Grange for 10 months now and I am extremely happy with his care. As I live quite a distance from Hexham I can only visit once a week so I rely on the staff to ensure he is content, they have not failed me or him. As well as excellent personal and medical care Dene Grange fundraises to provide a wide range of activities to keep the residents entertained and when I visit there is always a happy friendly atmosphere.

We found Dene Grange Care Home to be a good place for our mam to be cared for. The staff were wonderful. Very caring, friendly and supportive. They were very good in our mum's final weeks and showed great support to family members, especially our dad, who visited every day. The staff were very attentive to Mam and spoke to her kindly. The manager was very helpful and caring.

My mam has only been in this care home for the last three months and she has settled really well thanks to the care of the staff. Visiting is easy, and we are welcome anytime we want to go and see Mam. The staff are very polite and welcoming. She is always well-presented, clean and happy and seems very well cared for. She regularly participates in activities with other residents which I get to see as they are often on their social media pages. I would recommend this care home.

My husband has only been in the home for three weeks, the staff have been very helpful and are very kind and caring.

My Dad has been in the care home for the last 6 months and they have taken great care of him. He is well looked after, the care he receives is fantastic and I would recommend this care home to any member of my family.

Social Services recommended Dene Grange for the care that Dad needed. I can honestly say it was the best decision under the circumstances. The care Dad receives is amazing, and the staff are good in all respects. They kept us up to date with Dad as we do not live locally. The activities that Dene Grange does with the residents are very good. Dad's 80th birthday was celebrated amazingly. Staff excellent in all that they do.

Dad has been at Dene Grange for well over a year now. He was helped to settle in by the staff very well. Visiting is easy, and we are welcome anytime we want to go and see Dad. He is always well cared for and is clean, well-presented and happy. Dad's care and medical needs are well met, and there is a good liaison between the home and his GP/specialist. He takes part in activities with other residents, and we get to see those through a Facebook page. The number of staff and residents are just right to make sure care needs are met and the service is personal.
