My mum arrived at Bryn Celyn in a dreadful state both physically and mentally after a bad experience in another terrible home. Your staff immediately calmed and soothed her and she spent the rest of her respite care with yourselves being looked after to the highest standards.
My dad also came for three
weeks to convalesce and the care he was given was second to none. We believe he would not have recovered from surgery so quickly if he hadn't gone to Bryn Celyn knowing they were both there together was a huge weight off my mind as I live 200 miles away.

I spent several weeks, looking at different homes for my mum. That's difficult enough when you realise that you are no longer able to give your parent the care she needs. This home ticks all of the boxes - I looked and thought, would I be happy here, the answer is yes.

The staff have a lot of compassion

and empathy for the residents, it's odour free, very clean, the food is excellent as I have spent a few afternoons having lunch with my mum. As for the new manageress - what a lovely lady, and very approachable. I can't commend her enough. She has gained my respect, well suited to her position, with her warm, welcoming smile, she takes the time to listen to you, and that is very important. My mother is safe, happy and that is very important to me and all the other relatives.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.832)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.832) out of 10 for Bryn Celyn is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.832 for Bryn Celyn is calculated as follows: ( (280 Excellents x 5) + (50 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 333 Ratings = 4.832
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bryn Celyn is based on 28 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 56 registered maximum number of service users is 11.2, which has been reached with 28 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I became part of Bryn Celyn Care Home in February 2026 after feeling straight away that this was more than a care home; it was a community. The warmth and familiarity you feel as soon as you walk in is what drew me here, and it’s something I work to uphold every day.

My journey in care began back in 2012, when I worked as a care assistant while studying at Swansea University. Those early experiences shaped everything that came after. I qualified in 2016 with a BSc in Mental Health Nursing and went on to support people with complex needs in nursing home settings. These experiences strengthened my belief that good leadership and well-supported teams make a meaningful difference to residents’ daily lives.

At Bryn Celyn, my priority is simple: to make sure residents feel truly at home. I know that moving into care isn’t always an easy decision, and that’s why creating a sense of belonging, purpose, and comfort matters so much to me. I like to be present in the home, chatting with residents, catching up with families, and supporting the team because feeling seen and heard makes a difference.

Supporting and developing the team is something I’m passionate about. When colleagues feel valued, confident, and encouraged, the whole home feels it. Kindness, familiarity, and community aren’t just words for us; they’re the way we work.

Outside of work, I’m a mum to twin daughters who keep me grounded, busy, and endlessly entertained. Family life reminds me every day why creating a warm, safe, and caring home for our residents is so important.
