I have been very pleased with the care my mother and uncle have both received at Morgana Court and Lodge Care Home.
The staff are particularly kind and caring, with plenty of time for the residents, promoting a homely feel with lots of activities to stimulate and entertain.
Communication is very good.
Both
homes are spacious with good facilities including nutritious food.
I am very happy to have chosen Morgana Court and Lodge for my nearest and dearest and would recommend them to others.

My mother is a resident of Morgana Lodge and I can't begin to say how relieved I am that my mother is getting the best care there. I live far away and can't visit on a regular basis, but every time I call (I try to call at least 3 times a week), I am given all necessary information on my mother's well
being, eating, drinking, happiness, etc. I get to talk to her every time and the staff always make me feel like I'm a part of my mother's care. They are always happy to put my mam on the phone for me to talk to her, they never make me feel like it's an inconvenience. I have family visiting her and they always say the same thing - that the Lodge is taking really good care of her and she looks really well. In fact, I enjoy calling and speaking to the staff as they are so friendly and I would say that they treat my mam like family. So grateful for all that they do for her.
Reply from Bikram Choudhary, Director at Morgana Court and LodgeThank you for the kind words for our hard-working staff - they will be delighted with the feedback and we are happy that your mum is doing so well in the home.

It's not an easy decision or realisation that your loved one needs to go into a care home even more so when this needed to happen during the Covid pandemic and we were cut off from Mum. Thankfully we chose Morgana Court and Lodge. Mum has been and continues to be cared for to the highest standard by
an amazing team, it was a horrendous time seeing Mum struggling but now because of the team around her we see a settled and happy Mum once again, who still has a voice and quality of life, we will forever be thankful to you all.

My wife has advanced Alzheimer's disease and is in a wheelchair during waking hours. In hospital, her quality of life was poor and even the short-term outlook appeared bleak. Since moving into Morgana Court, 17 months ago, her quality of life has been better than I had thought possible. Within a week
of her moving in, the nurses and management met with my family and drew up a care plan which was so much more in tune with my wife's needs than that provided by the hospital. There was an almost immediate improvement in her well-being, which gave us great confidence in the care home staff. The management, the nurses and care staff are extremely caring and conscientious and treat my wife and the other residents as family members. They provide stimulation, positivity and a range of activities. My wife's diet is limited to pureed food, but the kitchen staff produce attractively presented meals for her. It's a home from home. The quality of care provided is excellent. Highly recommended.

My mum is now a few months into being at the home. Mum is, at times, a wanderer and is up and down. The home has gone up and beyond to deal with my mum to make her safe and I know now she is very safe. Staff are all great, they call me to let me know when Mum's ok and when I need to know something.
So thanks to the team for everything you do for my mum.

The patience, care and understanding towards my sister by the staff has been exemplary. She has been at the home for 2 and a half months now and our confidence in the staff is well founded.
Use of the well kept gardens to front and rear means we can take her out, weather permitting. Overall an excellent
home for her care.

I have always been more than happy with the care my mum receives. The staff go out of their way with regards to the care and wellbeing of my mother. The home is always very clean, and a safe environment for residents. I find the staff helpful, friendly and caring. My mum has been a resident for a number
of years, and a lot of the staff are like good friends. I am always safe in the knowledge that Mum is being cared for well. Thank you.

Excellent care home. They take care of all the residents' needs. They have looked after my uncle through the Covid-19 lockdown. They took the virus seriously and stopped all visitors at the beginning of March. They have managed to keep the virus out of the care home.

My brother has needed "special" care having suffered strokes, leaving him among other things - blind. He has been well cared for with kindness, dignity, humour and plenteous patience.
As a visitor, I have always been greeted and made to feel welcome, any queries I've asked for have been answered professionally
and politely. I am always informed of any incidents involving my brother.
The staff work extremely hard and with good humour and patience. I am grateful to them all at Margana Court.

Morgana Court is not "just a care home", it is a place of caring people that treat all residents as a family. The staff go far and beyond the duties in their contracts; they genuinely treat each resident with respect, compassion, and most of all, love and kindness. My brother has been a resident for
over 8-years, and as he says "I love it here, it's like a home from home". The care of the staff during the covid-19 pandemic has been exceptional, this is shown by the very fact that all residents and staff so far have had a negative test for the virus.

Mum has been at Morgana Court since January 2019. As a family, we have always been pretty satisfied with her care at the home. However, during the current Covid-19 crisis we have been so impressed with the professional but caring way that the management and staff have dealt with the situation. None
of us could have foreseen the devastating effects of this virus across the community, and especially the tragic loss of life in care facilities across the country. The Staff here from day one of the crisis have been vigilant in keeping the virus out of the home whilst still communicating with the family. I'm sure they are under massively increased pressure but respond to us with good humour, and a will to facilitate communication with our Mum. It is a huge responsibility choosing a care facility for a loved one and this crisis has definitely confirmed we made the right decision.

My mother was a resident for approximately four years. During that time she seemed happy and well looked after and never had a bad word to say about anyone. The staff spoke of her affectionately. During my visits, I never found anything untoward with her treatment and she seemed content and settled.
Sadly she passed away after a short illness. During that time, the nursing staff did everything to make her comfortable. She couldn't have been in better hands.

My mum was admitted here for two weeks respite for the family to have a little break.
From day one we had issues. Just felt this place was not the right home for my mum, too many people, not enough staff. People waiting too long to be looked after. Elderly just walking about bumping into other elderly
people, about 40 in a room made for about 20. My mum needed care around the clock, she was left in a chair for many hours after we had told the staff she needed to be put to bed after three hours; in the chair no longer. She was admitted to hospital with an issue which was incontinence even after the paperwork showed different wording. Mum mentioned staff shouting at her at one point which broke my heart. Staff were more interested in their break than checking on the elderly. I have been told things are changing but sadly they should not allow any more until it is sorted. Please, if you're going to send your family here please check on them daily, would I let my family stay again, sorry no chance.

My mother is well cared for. When I have asked staff for request relating to my mother's care, they usually respond positively and carry out requests as soon as they are able.
During December we did experience problems when my mother's fingernails grew extremely long and despite me asking if they could
be cut, Mam scratched her face badly - they were cut following this incident.
Also, I requested that Mam had a haircut two weeks before Christmas and this has not happened.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.898)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.898) out of 10 for Morgana Court and Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.613 for Morgana Court and Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (86 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 119 Ratings = 4.613
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.285 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Morgana Court and Lodge is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 63 registered maximum number of service users is 12.6. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.6 = 0.635
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
