The staff know the residents and families and are supportive of everyone, welcoming all into the Ysguborwen family. Residents and visitors alike are all treated with respect and care. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are always available to help . A wide range of activities are provided
along with tasty meals. Although my mother has only been there for a short time she settled quickly and her health has improved, all thanks to the amazing staff.

Following my mam becoming bed bound in January 2025 it was upsetting for myself and the rest of the family to see my mam losing her dignity and losing any joy in life. She was taken to Ysguborwen on 3rd September and that very day she was bathed and had her hair washed - the first time since December
2024
To see her sitting in an armchair. Something I never thought she'd get to do again. Feeding herself and rediscovering her love of art and making friends.
I cannot thank or praise the staff enough for giving my wonderful mam her dignity back.
Everyone who visits her cannot believe the difference in her in just a short time.
Thank you all so much.

My mother has been a resident for over 6 years, the staff are friendly and caring always there to answer any queries. They have been amazing with my mother, they have really made her feel like she's at home. The rooms are always clean and tidy the atmosphere is relaxed. The activities are amazing they
can join in if they want to. Sometimes they have artists to sing old music where they can get up and dance. Christmas parties, Chinese new year there's always something going on.
The grounds are relaxing where we take our mother by the lake see the fish listen to the birds and feed the chickens.
The cabin has tea facilities and can be opened or hired for residents birthdays.
I would like to thank the staff for all your hard work and the treatment and care you have given my mother and continue to do so, you make us feel reassured and are part of hers and our family x

Ysgurborwen is a lovely home, the staff all work do hard and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff treat the residents and their families with the utmost respect, the home is immaculate, bright and airy and there is always lots of activities for the residents to do. The garden area is beautiful,
and the staff are all angels. The care they provide for my mother is superb, and every time I visit I can see that my mother interacts and enjoys the staff company. The staff are always approachable and they keep the family informed of any changes at all times . An absolutely remarkable home. Well done and thank you for the love, support and care you provide to my mother xx

My mother had been in hospital for just under 12 months due to a bad experience(s) at an earlier care home. Within 24 hours she was sitting in a chair, for the first time in many months, like a meerkat people watching and all that was going on around her. When I visited on her fourth day there she was
painting. Not to Picasso standard, but with a look of intense concentration that I haven't seen since before her first stroke. Her gummy smiles are a joy to see, the home have arranged for the community dentist to fit replacement dentures, the original pair having gone MIA in hospital. My mother improved 110% within a matter of days of her going to Ysguborwen.

My mother has been a resident for over three years in lilac unit and has settled far better than expected, she is well cared for by the experienced staff whose job can be challenging at times I'm sure. The activities team are very good, interacting with the residents and encouraging everyone to join

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.944)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.944) out of 10 for Ysguborwen Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 30 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.944 for Ysguborwen Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (336 Excellents x 5) + (20 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 356 Ratings = 4.944
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ysguborwen Care Home is based on 30 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 registered maximum number of service users is 16, which has been reached with 30 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
