My dad moved into the care home, and it’s made such a difference to his life and ours as a family. It’s absolutely amazing; the staff are great, and Dad loves it there and is really happy, thanks to everyone. The surroundings are lovely, and the welcome from everyone is great.

The staff on the Lilac Wing have been excellent in managing my uncle's needs.
There are plenty of activities throughout the day, and the surrounding grounds provide plenty of interest for residents and are great for outside visits.

I have been impressed by all the staff, who have been involved with my uncle's care, and there appears to be a good rapport and banter between my uncle and the staff that care for him.

Review from D W (Cousin of Resident) published on 21 February 2022 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My cousin only spent the last six weeks of her life at Ysguborwen. She was treated with dignity and respect, responded to her needs, and anticipated them when she was too poor;y to make her wishes known. Staff were supportive, involved and communicated with me. They took time to feed her. They ensured the best care by contact - ring the relevant medics. My mother-in-law is still a resident at the home where she is kept well and busy with numerous activities, kept us informed throughout Covid restrictions and has a good understanding of her dementia.

Overall Experience
We visited some care homes locally when looking for a facility to look after my grandparents a few years back, and were struck by how much better the Lilac unit here appeared than others.
The facilities, philosophy of care and staff were perfect for their needs to live life with dignity, respect and stimulation. They seem to have the right balance in encouraging residents to join in with activities but are mindful not to force people when they just don't want to.

My mother is now a resident, and we are so happy with the care she receives too. The staff are very kind to not only the residents but their families too and go well over and above in their roles. When I learned she had a placement here, it was a big relief, as I knew she would be looked after at the best possible level.

Since my aunt has been a resident, I am more than happy with the care she is receiving from staff and visiting hairdressers and chiropodists. Because of Covid have not visited the rooms.

Overall Experience
My mother arrived at Ysguborwen Care Home following a long stay in hospital. Her general physical condition and mental health were low from illness/isolation from family in hospital due to covid restrictions. After 6 months on the Lilac unit she has flourished.
She is the happiest and healthiest I have seen her in years. She has started to enjoy life again after years of loneliness thanks to the fantastic care and entertainment staff at Ysguborwen.

This care/residential home allows all the residents to live their older lives to their full capacity. My mother is always clean, smartly dressed, and joining in activities with other residents and has her sparkle back in her eyes. Excellent home.

I was glad I attended the review everybody had the chance to speak and notes were taken. I was amazed when it was revealed that the carers all have training and exercise in the event of a fire, it opened my eyes to the fact that the staff at Ysguborwen are highly trained in all aspects.
