Despite working in the heat ( red warning) , the staff prioritised the residents as always. Fans, lollipops, extra cool drinks and food were available and offered to residents, in addition to monitoring health and well being as always. All staff work as a team and together they give the best care and support to residents and families.
As you say working in this heat has its own challenges and our residents are extra vulnerable-thank you for noticing and appreciating .
My wife has been in Ysguborwen for a no of years and I've found it a pleasure to visit every day. Also all June (wife) friends find it a very warm and pleasant place to live.
What a lovely review-you are part of our Ysguborwen family you know that
The atmosphere in Ysguborwen is wonderful. The staff are excellent. My sister is in Lilac Section. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. They go out of their way to help. It's a pleasure to attend some of the activities. I have experience of another care home. I believe Ysguborwen is the best.
Thank you so much Geraint for your lovely comments-Lilac will be thrilled-your sister is a pleasure to look after-the privilege is ours.
We are always kept fully informed of our loved one, which was much appreciated when our household was ill and unable to visit. I never have to worry. Social Media also keeps us in touch with all the wonderful activities.
Thank you Katie for your kind words-we are thrilled we are able to ease any worries you may have-its our privilege to look after your sister-she is cherished here at Ysguborwen
As always you are all amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone is treated with kindness and respect and treated as an individual. Every member of staff is always polite, welcoming and supportive whether it's a quick question or something important. Thank you all you're amazing
Your aunt is a delight to care for and its a privilege for us -I will certainly pass your lovely comments onto our team in Heather and in Lilac where she was formerly.
My aunt has been kept active with the activities that are provided and her wellbeing is regularly updated to myself via staff, phonecalls and their regular updates on the family group social media.
Thank you for your support.
Thank you so much for your kind words Hannah-I will of course relay your comments to the team -they will appreciate them. Its a pleasure to have your aunt at Ysguborwen.
My Uncle has been a resident since June 2025 and was offered a place following a period of huge upheaval and distress. Without exception, the staff have been supporting, professional and kind. The residents are treated with dignity and respect. There are many opportunities to take part in a wide variety of activities. I am relieved to know that my Uncle is so well cared for and supported.
Thank you for your kind words Sarah-I will of course relay them to the team-its so appreciated
My uncle is living with dementia. Due to circumstances that happened, he was placed at Ysguborwn Care Home. It was a very difficult time for him. The staff have been patient and understanding of his needs. Through their kindness, he now feels settled and at home. Thank you.
I will of course relay them to our team
To see her sitting in an armchair. Something I never thought she'd get to do again. Feeding herself and rediscovering her love of art and making friends.
I cannot thank or praise the staff enough for giving my wonderful mam her dignity back.
Everyone who visits her cannot believe the difference in her in just a short time.
Thank you all so much.

Ysgurborwen is a lovely home, the staff all work do hard and nothing is too much trouble. All the staff treat the residents and their families with the utmost respect, the home is immaculate, bright and airy and there is always lots of activities for the residents to do. The garden area is beautiful, and the staff are all angels. The care they provide for my mother is superb, and every time I visit I can see that my mother interacts and enjoys the staff company. The staff are always approachable and they keep the family informed of any changes at all times . An absolutely remarkable home. Well done and thank you for the love, support and care you provide to my mother xx
Thank you for such moving comments. It certainly is a testament to the hard work and dedication everyone puts in, and it means so much to the staff to hear your words of appreciation and support.
The home is it set in beautiful grounds with wonderful views, but what makes this place so special is the staff. They all know the residents and treat them with respect and kindness- the care is excellent.
My mother had been in hospital for just under 12 months due to a bad experience(s) at an earlier care home. Within 24 hours she was sitting in a chair, for the first time in many months, like a meerkat people watching and all that was going on around her. When I visited on her fourth day there she was painting. Not to Picasso standard, but with a look of intense concentration that I haven't seen since before her first stroke. Her gummy smiles are a joy to see, the home have arranged for the community dentist to fit replacement dentures, the original pair having gone MIA in hospital. My mother improved 110% within a matter of days of her going to Ysguborwen.
I have nothing but admiration for the staff who look after my wife and also the way they have made me welcome at the home. It is sad to leave your wife at the end of visiting but I have peace of mind that she is well looked after. Thank you for all your care.
Thank you for your kind words - your wife is a pleasure to look after and I will pass your lovely comments onto them.
I am very pleased with the care my mother receives, the nursing staff are very friendly and you can approach them with anything you require. They are very helpful. I can't fault anything about the nursing home.
Thank you for your very kind review - I will pass these comments onto our nursing team.
My mother has been a resident for over three years in lilac unit and has settled far better than expected, she is well cared for by the experienced staff whose job can be challenging at times I'm sure. The activities team are very good, interacting with the residents and encouraging everyone to join in with quizzes, bingo drawing and more. You are always welcomed when visiting, weather permitted the garden area is a lovely setting, we go up with the grandchildren and take a picnic, which my mother enjoys.
Thank you for your kind comments - your mother has settled in and is now part of our Ysguborwen family.

Meet the Team (9)

Having been a registered nurse for over 30 years, it is a huge privilege to have held the manager position here at Ysguborwen for the last 8 years, and my biggest passion is contributing to the enhancement of the quality of our resident's lives and experiences in their home. Every day is a gift and with my highly skilled and caring team, our residents can live life to their potential and more importantly, maximise their wellbeing.

I was first introduced to the care environment when I was 18. I started my career as a care assistant working my way up to becoming a registered manager. Knowing and caring for a person with Dementia is a true passion for me. I have thrived in being able to make a difference to all of our residents living with Dementia. Improving the lives of those living with Dementia will always be my passion.

I have been working at Ysguborwen for 17 years and during that time I have progressed from a care assistant to a dementia manager. My passion is ensuring people living with dementia are able to lead fulfilled, normal lives every day with quality and choice. I believe here in Lilac we make that happen.

I have held a senior care assistant role here for the last two years and I now combine that with a training coordinator post and now recently, promoted to assistant manager. My aim is to provide a platform for staff to assist them with a knowledge base and understanding of all different aspects of working within the care industry. Each resident here at the home has their own individual needs and characteristics and this helps us all to get to know the residents and deliver their care in a person-centered way. I love coming to work every day at Ysguborwen. Every day is different and brings new challenges.

Having worked in manufacturing for over four years, I found myself questioning whether I was making a difference in the world so I decided to make a change. For the last five years, I have been thankful and lucky to be in a role where my priorities are keeping our lovely residents safe and comfortable in this caring environment.

It is a great privilege to work with our lovely residents for the past 30 years in the role of well-being enhancement. I have met so many individual characters maintaining life skills and developing new ones. It's a joy to be part of their creative journey. I'm always excited to meet new people and use innovative technology to interact at all different levels.

My name is Cerys an I am the Admin Manager here at Ysguborwen Nursing Home. I started work in February 2006 as an Admin Assistant and have worked hard to gain various qualifications to get me to Management level. I love working at the home. Although some days or situations are tough to manage or deal with, overall, working at the home is very rewarding. I watch staff grow and develop and seeing the residents laugh and smile each day is a big bonus to my working day. They all have individual and funny characteristics; two days are never the same; they certainly brighten my day. It's a daily challenge but I'm very privileged to work in such a diverse and caring environment.

Director at Ysguborwen.
