Sadly my aunt died this month. She had been in Glais House for just over 5 years. During her time at Glais House she had wonderful, loving care. The staff are excellent, they are respectful and caring and extremely kind. A first-class home with the most wonderful staff. My aunt had 5 happy years there. We, as a family, cannot thank the staff enough. I cannot find any faults with the home.

I am now resident in Glais House Nursing Home and find it very relaxing after a stay of three months in various hospitals.
I have my privacy and also company if and when I want it.

I have good friends visiting which I look forward to. I am unable to go out and about visiting or shopping - my walking in very limited after a heavy fall, I need support.

I visit a friend, who has been resident in Glais House for nearly a year. She has a beautiful large single room with ensuite facilities. She settled into the home very well, and is very happy there. She finds the staff very helpful, caring and friendly, and she highly rates the food. There is an activities coordinator, who organises lots of activities and events, some of which family, and friends are invited to attend. The events are well attended by family and friends, including young children, and everyone is made to feel very welcome and catered for, as they provide lovely buffets and drinks for everyone. I have been visiting my friend for nearly a year now, and I have always found the staff to be friendly and caring. They all seem to be very happy in their jobs, and always seem to be smiling, They always seem to be working hard, in what can be very difficult situations.

My mother was very happy and told me that the staff there were lovely. They are always cheerful and can't do enough for the residents. There are lots of activities every week, and the family are invited to join in. We are made to feel very welcome. All the staff always appear happy and create a welcoming atmosphere for family and friends. Seeing my mother so well cared for makes me feel happy.

Mum has been at Glais House for 14 months. The improvement in her health (mental and physical) is attributable to the professional and loving care of the staff (all of them). She now feels safe and secure. She is well loved, care is taken to ensure she gets outdoors whenever the weather permits. Following a nasty fall, when mobility was badly affected, every staff member helped and encouraged Mum to work hard to regain her previous level of self-care and mobility. Miraculous! Full marks to all of you. She remains strong, determined and such a pleasure to visit. We feel blessed. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident for the past two years at Glais House Nursing Home. She is very happy here and the staff have all become like family to her (and myself). She is cared for so very well here. The home and gardens are beautiful. There are always activities and various functions going on, all of which Mum thoroughly enjoys. I am so very glad that I chose Glais House Nursing Home for her because it stands heads above all the other care homes.

My father and I chose Glais House based on previous visits looking for a home for his late wife. He and I have not been disappointed as the standard of care has met all our expectations. When I visit Dad I check every time that he remains happy and looked after and he remains very happy with all aspects of life at Glais House. I have witnessed interactions between Dad and staff and they have at all times been respectful, caring and supportive. He has been in the home since February 2021 and remains happy, content and comfortable.

I am very happy that Glais House made my mother and our family very welcome at the Jubille party in the grounds. The food was delicious and the atmosphere warm and inviting. The music and animals helped everyone to relax after Covid. The carers were attentive and kind to everyone, just as they always are at Glais. We look forward to regular similar events in the future as this made my mother very happy.

After a fall my dad had been hospitalised for two months and then put in an interim placement at a care home - all by social services. During all this time he was classed as bed bound so for around five months never showered or moved from his bed. Within seven days of being at Glais House, he had been showered and was sitting in an armchair - magical.

An extremely well run and clean establishment. Staff are qualified, very helpful and care for the residents. My father is a more recent resident, and due to Covid restrictions, I am unable to quantify marks for food, facilities and activities as access is difficult, but I will say my father is happy in his environment and wants to stay. He is also putting on weight! Value for money is difficult and unfair question and a political bone of contention eg, "what price do you put on care"! There is always a price. My father has worked all his life and paid his dues, but now pays for his own care. If he hadn't had nothing, it would cost him a lot less! The care home provides super service, overheads, quality, qualified staff are not cheap and costs can seem unfair, but it is a business. If it were not for the homes, many would suffer.

My mother, who has dementia, has been a resident at Glais House for almost two years, during which time she has been very well cared for and is happy and contented. Glais House is a warm, friendly, welcoming home with a unique family atmosphere. The staff are very caring and treat the residents with respect and dignity. The management are very approachable, who will listen and take on board any concerns or issues and take the appropriate action where necessary.

Review from Barbara W (Cousin of Resident) published on 27 January 2021 Submitted via Website

In January 2019 we had to move our cousin from his residential home of 8 years due to the deterioration in his health. We had been very worried about finding him a new home and what effect that moving him would have on him. Finding Glais House was the answer to our prayers. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff exude that perfect combination of solid professionalism with a very caring attitude. Our cousin thrived. We will be eternally grateful to the staff for being his substitute family during the pandemic and keeping us updated via phone and videos.

Our cousin's health deteriorated in January and he passed away. The staff could not have been more caring, empathic and well organised during this period. We could not have asked for better care for him - or for us - over these last two years.
