Staff are always kind and caring towards my mother, who has been resident now for over three years. Initially, we never thought she would settle anywhere but when she was no longer safe to be left in her own home she went in willingly and settled very quickly. The staff are always approachable and knowledgeable
about my mum's current state of health and mind. She has been ill with urinary infections lots of times and they have vigilantly cared for her in her room and sent her into hospital quickly when needed. They have been amazingly careful protecting the residents during Covid-19 without one single person becoming ill.
The management have kept us up to date with any pertinent news at this time to alleviate our obvious worries.
What stands out for me is the number of staff that have been in situ a long time. I have to say a big thank you to the activities coordinator and the PA as well as the amazing nurses who provide such good care. I will certainly recommend 100 per cent.

Absolutely amazing. Their response to lockdown has ensured every resident has remained safe and well. They set up a Facebook page and regularly post pictures which are incredible to see Dad while we can’t visit. They also update us by email, keeping us informed every step of the way. Dad has an absolutely
beautiful big room with own decking and French doors so lovely and light. They check on Dad medically, constantly as a family, we have complete peace of mind he is safe and getting lots of attention.

Glais House is a lovely place! My father has been there for about 6-months, with advanced dementia, and they are doing a great job of looking after him, and making the most of the time he has left. They are also doing a great job with the lockdown; they took the necessary steps very early on, and have
been virus-free, so congratulations on that. Food is good, and the place is very clean, with a high standard of hygiene! The staff are very helpful and kind, and are fantastic with the residents! Highly recommend!

Glais House has cared for my mam and dad with love, compassion and gentle care. Mam passed away last summer at the home after a long struggle with dementia and other serious health issues. The nursing care was exemplary and compassion and love shown to us and Dad was very special. We will always be
grateful to the wonderful staff.

My Father, who is a resident of Glais House, has been looked after in an excellent manner by staff and management. They go out of their way and cannot do enough for him. I have the impression that they sincerely care for the resident's wellbeing. The home is forever being improved to accommodate any
changes that are required.

We were reticent about our Uncle going into a care home but our fears have been more than allayed. He has thrived in Glas. He has company, has a good and varied diet with unlimited food and drink and the staff are fab. They are so caring and he is treated with respect and dignity. He has been rejuvenated
since coming here. Can't fault it.

My father was only at Glais for 3 weeks before his death. However, my sister and I are eternally grateful to all the staff for the care they provided in that period which allowed him to pass away peacefully, in no pain and with full dignity. The way they treated us as family was also exemplary. We are
really pleased we chose Glais and could not have asked for more.

Nice place, very clean inside. The nurse on the day shift is always ready to help and a wonderful staff team who can't do enough to help you. The food my father gets is also very good and he eats very well since he has been at Glais House and always looks very clean when our family visit my father which
is nearly every day. There are two very large rooms with big televisions upstairs and downstairs, two lifts which help you get to wherever you need to go and the management and owner could not be nicer people. A really nice place.

My dad was a resident at Glais House but has sadly passed away the care he received was amazing. The home has a friendly, caring atmosphere, the food was lovely and homemade. My dad had palliative care for the last couple of weeks. We couldn't have asked for anything more from the staff. They not only
looked after my dad but me and my two sisters as well. They go above and beyond their job requirements. They made our dad's life (and ours) a wonderful, happy experience of family life. We will never be able to thank them enough for all that they did.

My mother came to Glais House after 10 weeks in hospital. She has Parkinson's, TIA'so and Dementia. The staff immediately set about making her welcome, assessing needs and preferences, foods etc.
She is receiving end of life care now as her condition has worsened.
I feel she came in knowing no
one but she will leave behind friends.
All staff exceed expectations, they genuinely care.
I wholeheartedly recommend this home.

My mum is currently a resident of Glais House where she is cared for and looked after to a high standard, the staff and management are friendly, caring, helpful and professional at all times which is very comforting to me and my family. We have shared lovely Xmas parties, afternoon singers etc together
with my mum organised by the home which is always so lovely for them and us to be still enjoying some happy times.
A massive thank you to all for looking after my most precious mum.

Very good care home in Glais. Staff are very pleasant, even when very busy. Some still offer a cup of tea or coffee. Rooms for residents are excellent, extremely clean and well looked after. Sometimes staff are under pressure, but seem to cope admirably. On the whole, I would give a very good 9 out
of 10.

Our mother has been a resident of Glais House since January 2011. This is before the current managing director and his team took over the home.

In the time they have been in charge the level of service and standards within the Home have improved considerably. Money has been spent on the property

and the gardens, making it a much more pleasant environment. The individual rooms have also been improved and upgraded.

Our mother's physical health and mental capacity have declined since she entered the home. We feel that she is very well cared for at the Home.

Glais House provides a very good level of care indeed.
Staff are always friendly and supportive. Faced with a wide range of care need. They work very hard to support and assist residents. My mother gets a good level of stimulation and is actively encouraged to come out of her room into the lounge.
Mam's room is always clean despite her challenging health issues sometimes, the staff being very patient and gentle with mum if there has been an "accident".
Food is always very good. If there have been any issues, management have always been quick to rectify things.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.862)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.862) out of 10 for Glais House Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 47 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.862 for Glais House Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (481 Excellents x 5) + (77 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 558 Ratings = 4.862
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Glais House Nursing Home is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have over 20 years of experience of working in Human resources. I have worked at Glais House for the past 11 years. I find the home to be exceptional in its care, as I had my own Mother here as a resident for a while. It has a very warm and cosy atmosphere with attentive and caring staff to look after the residents.
