Glais House Care Home

Staff is very friendly and caring. The gardens are beautiful and very well looked after. Very lovely place.

My father has a beautiful room and the best of care from the lovely, friendly staff.

My Dad was a resident at Glais House. He was treated with dignity and extremely well looked after. I would certainly recommend Galis House Your loved one will be cared for in every way. The staff are polite approachable and dedicated to their jobs and residents.

An extremely well run and clean establishment. Staff are qualified, very helpful and care for the residents. My father is a more recent resident, and due to Covid restrictions, I am unable to quantify marks for food, facilities and activities as access is difficult, but I will say my father is happy in his environment and wants to stay. He is also putting on weight! Value for money is difficult and unfair question and a political bone of contention eg, "what price do you put on care"! There is always a price. My father has worked all his life and paid his dues, but now pays for his own care. If he hadn't had nothing, it would cost him a lot less! The care home provides super service, overheads, quality, qualified staff are not cheap and costs can seem unfair, but it is a business. If it were not for the homes, many would suffer.

My mother, who has dementia, has been a resident at Glais House for almost two years, during which time she has been very well cared for and is happy and contented. Glais House is a warm, friendly, welcoming home with a unique family atmosphere. The staff are very caring and treat the residents with respect and dignity. The management are very approachable, who will listen and take on board any concerns or issues and take the appropriate action where necessary.

Our cousin's health deteriorated in January and he passed away. The staff could not have been more caring, empathic and well organised during this period. We could not have asked for better care for him - or for us - over these last two years.

My father has been a resident since August 2020 during the covid lockdown. The care home have succeeded magnificently during these most difficult times. I have been unable to meet my father and have had to rely totally on feedback as Skype communication is not feasible due to my father's advanced dementia. The home have gone out of their way to report back by describing my father's condition in a totally honest way, which my family do appreciate. My father seems so settled, is eating well, (who wouldn't with their fantastic chef) has put on weight and looks so well and presentable. (VCR is essential for this). The staff go out of their way to care for my father, he has been introduced to other residents and has made so many friends. If it was not for the dedication of the staff, we would have found the lockdown experience unbearable. I only hope that the situation does improve and once again we can meet and hug our loved ones. Bring on the vaccine.

My dad has lived at Glais House for the past 14 years and due to their care and support, they have treated dad with the utmost dignity. Nothing is too much for the carers and management. The care team are amazing, each and everyone play a special part in caring for my loved one. The love, care and respect they showed us as a family was so appreciated and we will forever be grateful. We have been kept well informed of our mother's health and needs by phone and Skype. The Facebook site is regularly updated with photos of recent activities giving easy access to relatives.

My mother has been a resident at Glais Nursing Home for the past 11 months. I have nothing but praise for the staff whose care of my mother has been excellent, especially during this recent Covid crisis.

Very welcoming care home in a beautiful setting. Visited some other local places when assisting my aunt with the transition to a residential home. This was as good as any. Friendly staff, professional and her room is of a very high standard and size and ensuite with a nice view. Better than some hotels that I have stayed at! Food also offered to family guests, this is very hospitable. Approachable and forward-thinking manager. Person-centred planning is considered for the guests. Nice spacious day room with a giant TV. Am happy that my aunt is now in a safe considerate environment. Skype and remote communication offered during this pandemic. A very sensible option I feel.

It is also worth mentioning that through this Covid crisis, they have kept all the residents safe and to date, there has been no occurrence of this virus.

The large lounge provides plenty of light and views of the garden and my mother enjoys watching the changing seasons while around her, the residents have a chance to take part in activities if they wish. After the very hard decision to move into residential care, I have no regrets and every day I'm confident that my mother is cared for and content.

What an excellent job all the Glais House Nursing Home staff have done in caring for residents and keeping them safe throughout this Covid 19 crisis, thanks to such sensible precautions taken in good time. From early on in the crisis they were ahead of the official guidance. What particularly reassures me above all is the highly professional, knowledgable and always caring and helpful key input of the nurse manager, underpinning the overall quality of care. Thank you Glais Nursing Home staff.

Glais House is a lovely friendly home. My mum has been there for just over a year now. The staff are so caring, very helpful. nothing is too much trouble and it puts my mind at rest knowing my mum is well cared for. The home itself is spotless and during lockdown has kept families up to date and posted pictures on their Facebook page which is lovely to see.

I can not praise Glais House enough. From when I first inspected the home to recent problems with COVID 19 their caring attitude and care have been nothing short of exemplary. Their quick understanding of the situation and the speed with which they took appropriate action in my mind saved many a life at Glais. If you are looking for a home for a loved one I fully recommend Glais house.

Staff seem to know my mum well and she is always treated with dignity and respect. We are welcomed when we visit and nothing seems to much trouble for staff.

What stands out for me is the number of staff that have been in situ a long time. I have to say a big thank you to the activities coordinator and the PA as well as the amazing nurses who provide such good care. I will certainly recommend 100 per cent.
