My mum was in St Mark's for over 4 months, she was suffering from severe dementia amongst other ailments so we had to find a care home that we would be sure we could rely on as mum could not communicate too well, we truly found it here, every single member of staff that dealt with mum showed the utmost
care and friendliness to make mum feel safe and special and above all showed true professionalism.
Every time we rang to check on mum nothing would be too much trouble for the staff and I felt that I was kept informed entirely on changes to mum. Every resident you came across during our many hours of visiting St Mark's always appeared to be happy and contented and if not there would be someone attending to them, any small problems with mum's immaculate room would be dealt with extremely quickly by superb maintenance staff.
I'm a very critical person when it came to mum although you wouldn't believe it! I highly recommend St Mark's.

From the time we were shown around (before mum moved in), we felt happy that there was a room for her. It was a happy, caring home and the staff were all very friendly and residents all looked so well and comfortable. Mum has settled in well thanks to all the staff.

Our mother was resident in St Mark's for only a brief time, but we cannot praise the manager and all the staff for the work they do there. They stepped in to help at a time when we really needed all the help we could get finding and transferring mam to a suitable, local, caring/ nursing home. When
we visited mam, she was always clean, tidily dressed, warm and relaxed. The staff were always cheerful, caring and attentive and we were grateful for the excellent nursing skills. We were kept informed of any/all new developments and treatments and when her time came, she was treated with dignity and respect. We can never thank them enough for all they did, in our opinion all the staff deserve the GEM award.

The warmth and compassion of the staff made me feel my Dad was being cared for in a home from home. They all expressed a "can do" approach to any challenge, guided by the role model provided by the Manager. The staff not only cared for Dad but for me and my family as well. They kept me informed every
step of the way and explained the treatment and medication which was prescribed to my Dad. I am so glad that my Dad had the care he did. I couldn't have wished for better and my Dad was as important to the staff as he was to me.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.958)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.958) out of 10 for St Mark's Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.800 for St Mark's Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.8
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.158 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Mark's Court Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.6 = 0.658
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
