My mother was in Swn-Y-Mor for nearly three years until she passed away in June 2024. The staff at the home were excellent and my mother was well looked after and was very happy at the home. Every time we visited the staff were always friendly and showed a loving care for my mother. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone considering a place for their relatives in the future.
My grandmother had just short of 3 wonderful years at Swn-Y-Mor Care Centre I am sure that had she not moved there her years would have been cut much shorter. The staff were like extended family, she adored them all. She lived for her weekly Bingo sessions and loved regular visits from Elvis with the amazing activities team. It is a well run home that is very clean. Management are very approachable with an open door policy should we have needed to speak with them. It gave us great peace of mind to know she was so well looked after.
Dad is a fussy eater, he may not always eat the food, from what I have seen though it looks appetising. He likes going out on the bus for trips.
My brother was cared for at Swn-y-Mor Care Home, I cannot thank the manager and all of the staff enough for the loving care he received all the years he spent there. We as a family are very sad to say our relative sadly passed away on Tuesday 9th of April. We know he had the very best care there, which helps us to deal with our grief. He could be difficult at times, but the manager and her staff handled him with lots of love and care. What really touched us as a family was the way they dealt with him passing away with so much dignity and love, when the undertakers came to remove him, all the staff were lined up to see him out, he would have loved this.
My mother has been a resident at Swn-y-Mor since January 2023. The care she has received is second to none, all her needs are fully catered for. Meals are nutritious and plentiful. Activities, as you get older, are very important but the activities staff are very, very active and provide a varied range of activities. They work extremely hard. My mother is very happy in Swn-y-Mor.
My mother has been at this care home for the past 10 months, it has given her a new lease of life. She is 96 years old, was living alone with a lot of family support. However, she looks forward to all the superb activities they provide. The staff cannot do enough for her, she has made a lot of new friends. Recommend this home highly for its cleanliness and facilities.
The staff have a good relationship with my mother and myself. I feel confident that I could discuss any concerns with them.
Overall, Swn-y-Mor is a very good care home. Would recommend that staff wear name tags useful for residents and family and friends are able to know who one is speaking to, and agency staff can be easily identified apart from a change in uniform. Also, carers could, perhaps, aid residents to do tasks and join in activities other than 'do you want to ...?' suggesting 'it's time you ...' or 'I have come to ...'. Negative replies stop the progress and well-being of residents. The majority of staff are very good.
It can only be the staff bringing Covid into the home. This was obvious when I witnessed a community nurse enter without an LFT or any other checks yesterday.
We are sorry to hear about your concerns regarding Swn-Y-Mor care centre. Could I please ask that you email correspondence@handsale.co.uk so that these may be investigated
The staff at this care home are very caring and loving towards their residents. My mother was looked after with a lot of respect and bags of care and love. Every staff member became like a family to us. The activities ladies work extremely hard to make sure the residents have things to occupy them every opportunity. The cleaning staff, the laundry staff and the kitchen staff take care of all the resident's needs. The management staff are wonderful, and if there are any problems, they will do everything they can to sort things out.
This provision cares for the elderly with dignity, respect and empathy. This provision always has time to speak to family, and they are well informed and are very professional. We are extremely happy, and more importantly, my grandfather has no complaints and has settled in better than expected.
I firmly think that nurses should ‘listen’ to relative's views as they know their relatives better than them!
Thank you for your review and we are sorry to hear that you have found members of the nursing team have not been taking your views on board. Could I please ask that you email me the specific details at: correspondence@handsale.co.uk so that we can investigate the matter.
During her stay, she was provided with the utmost platinum care that we could only have wished for! Nothing was too much trouble for any members of the team. It’s a friendly, happy place, where we felt at ease to leave our dear mother; she loved it there. All the team provide us with all that we needed to see our mother through the last difficult few weeks, showing nothing but complete empathy to us as a family; thank you for that time!
Carers are caring, professional and friendly. My mother entered the care home three months ago and has nothing but wonderful praise for the staff, food and the environment. Whenever she has mentioned anything she has been listed to and appropriate action is taken promptly. She has always felt safe and loves the staff already. During these difficult times, the care home has kept in touch and explained all rules/regulations, so I have felt reassured too.
The activities are well planned if they want to see a film they are also available.
They have the opportunity to have a visit from the Church if they wish to have their communion.
All in all an excellent home.
My Gran who is 101 years old is definitely cared for in the highest quality care standards possible. She is dressed accountably every time we visit and I cannot praise the staff more. She has a smile on her face when she sees us and it reminds her of home because she remembers Aberavon Beach with her advanced level of Alzheimer's. Keep doing what you are doing! The manager and the team must be commended for!
I would definitely recommend this care centre. The care received by my Dad is outstanding. Everyone from the cleaners and kitchen right through to the nurses and matron are so incredibly caring, friendly and efficient. Can't speak highly enough of the standards here. Plus the food is of such high quality and quantity. Simply the best.
My wife was admitted for nursing care due to a multiple of medical concerns on the 23rd November 2018 and was a resident until her death on 20th April 2019. During that time she received devoted love, care and attention of the highest order. My daughter and I were also treated as part of their 'family', which helped us cope with a very difficult situation.
My cousin has been at the home for the past four years and has a lovely room overlooking the beach. The staff treat her with dignity and respect, and there is nothing too much for them to do. She thinks of them as her girls and part of the family. She doesn't come out of her room, her choice but they make sure she is included in activities. Everywhere else is spotlessly clean and she enjoys the choice of meals and home cooking. She couldn't receive better care.
Luckily mum is not demanding and can't be happier, she is so pleased to be here. A big weight off my mind that she is so contented.
