We were met by a carer to have a lateral flow testing and waited outside for 30 minutes. We were escorted to my mother's room and found a very friendly atmosphere. The room is small so I took home all the unnecessary items to make some room. The 30 minutes visit soon ended and we were informed by friendly
staff to leave. Totally happy so far with mams care and covid protection.

Prior to having a mini-stoke earlier this year, Dad had been a resident at a care home, which he regards as his home. Whilst in the hospital in recovery, I was faced with a dilemma when a nursing assessment indicated he could return to his old care home.
Parkland met Dad's requirement, and it represented
and gave assurance of continuation of care under the group. I'm pleased with the choice made. Dad isn't as he once was after strokes and hospital stays, but above all else, under the circumstance, he remains very happy and content in his new home. Thank you so much for helping him; it is very much appreciated.

I have felt that the last two years, there has been a turnover of management, there is not enough staff to care for all the residents. Myself, as a daughter, haven't been happy. The way my mother has been treated with her needs, as for my mother's feet. I've asked the last year and a half, but my mother's
nails haven't been seen to. There doesn't seem to be any communication with members of staff.
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Parklands Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We take any concerns brought to our attention seriously and we are sorry the communication and care provided to your Mother have not been to our expected standards. My general view of the home is excellent. The food and facilities are very good. Staff treat residents with care and dignity. Sometimes not enough staff on duty and residents have them kept waiting for attention.

Prior to March 2020 when the national lockdown occurred due to Coronavirus, I visited my sister on a weekly basis. I found her to be happy with the staff and her surroundings. I was also happy and built up a good relationship with all concerned, joining in with the activities provided. However, I have
only seen my sister once since lockdown commenced and that was a garden visit, so therefore I cannot really comment on how things are going on at Parklands Care Home. However, I do phone regularly and am always told that my sister is fine and in good spirits.

Could not be more grateful for the wonderful care that my mum receives from the staff at Parklands. The staff have become mum's family in there during these difficult times something they have embraced and willingly do with great care and genuine dignity. It is a real comfort for our family to know
that mum is in a caring environment where she is safe, well fed and above all, happy. A big thank you to all at Parklands.

Care very good as Dad's settled in from day one. The room needs attention and could be a little cleaner. He gets his days but is 90 after all. Laundry needs a better system. The room needs carpet. Overall very good as his care takes priority.
Reply from Diane Kerwin, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Parklands Care HomeThank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. During recent months, the levels of cleanliness in our home and infection control practices have been a big priority, and as such, we have maintained high levels of cleanliness throughout. Anti-slip vinyl flooring increases the effectiveness of sanitation and cleanliness in bedrooms and is our preferred choice for our residents own rooms. Part of our enhanced infection control practices this has included our laundry and linen management. We aim to return laundry to resident bedrooms within 24 hours, and the effectiveness of this process is greatly improved by individualised, durable labelling to resident items to ensure they can be returned to the correct resident in a timely manner.

It is about 18 months since my sister came to Parklands, very infirm and quite miserable, non-cooperative. Since then she has, with encouragement, physically and mentall much improved and enjoys the activities etc. provided. I must congraulate the excursions organised and the effort made to make very
often. Thank to for this.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.792)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.792) out of 10 for Parklands Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 27 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.792 for Parklands Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (265 Excellents x 5) + (47 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 322 Ratings = 4.792
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parklands Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
