The staff cannot do enough for the residents and there's plenty of activities going on to keep them engaged. My mother loves being in the communal lounge and is doing really well since coming here.

Parklands is at the heart of the community in Bedwas, and the enthusiasm and loving care given by staff is exceptional as they encourage residents to take part in music sessions and reminiscence. It was very moving to see how people responded as the staff took residents to visit Bedwas Workmens Hall
for the first time in many years; they remembered with such joy the dances, cinema and social events of their youth.

Parklands is a warm and caring home, the staff are friendly and always happy to listen to family's concerns and help where they can. The home also has a fantastic entertainment officer who provides great events for the residents- the effect on their mental and emotional well-being is fantastic, it's
a very real benefit that cannot be underestimated.

My father has been a resident at Parklands for two years. Previous to that another care home. For us as a family HCL provides the care, nursing and trust for caring for all my dad's needs. My dad seems very happy at Parklands and thoroughly enjoys his time spent with the staff and the activities coordinator.
He joins in and loves the music and singing, also any entertainment days provided. My mind is very satisfied with Parklands.

Lunch times are always a pleasure today the care home manager put on some music which always lifts the atmosphere. The entertainment lady usually does this and it helps create a happy relaxed lunch time. The staff are always helpful and will assist with any reasonable request. They are friendly and

Since my uncle has come here to live, the support and care is fantastic I cannot fault any of staff. I noticed how well in his looks he is looking. Been here for company and now feels secure also staff.

This might seem like an odd review as it's about nothing in particular.
I am in Parklands most days at lunch time to assist my husband and today was just an ordinary day. This afternoon it will probably get lively with St Patrick's Day celebrations.
Whilst sitting at the back of the lounge, people
watching, if you like, I was struck by the friendly family type atmosphere. The room was full of chatting and laughing.
All dining room tables were occupied and staff were busy serving, assisting and generally joining in.
In the midst were residents' visitors also assisting and looking quite comfortable and at home themselves.
This is something that Parklands does well - there is no segregation. Residents chose themselves where they wish to be and visitors just fit in.
Visitors are now friends with other visitors because of this relaxed atmosphere, it's lovely.
This a difficult time for families but Parklands is 100% "home".

Today my brother and I visited my father at Parklands Care Home, Bedwas and were really impressed with the wellbeing staff member and the maintenance guy who were entertaining the residents there. They were dancing, singing and doing Karaoke with the residents. They all joined in and it was wonderful
to see their eyes light up and beaming, smiles on their faces, even had my dad dancing!

My wife has been in Parklands for the last year. I have found the carers and management to be very caring towards the residents. The food provided is of a good quality. The lounge houses the majority of residents during the daytime. Rooms allocated to residents are airy, nicely decorated and clean.
The medical services offered are very good. The residents are always treated with dignity. There is a feeling of being part of family household. I believe each resident is safe and secure within the home. I, along with the rest of the family, find the home to be entirely satisfactory for all residents.

My grandmother had her 90th birthday. The staff at the home went above and beyond to make the day special for her. They held a birthday party with a singer and everyone got involved with singing and dancing. It was a lovely atmosphere and we were made to feel welcome.

It was my grandmother's 90th birthday and the home decorated the lounge and his bedroom. They organised a party with entertainment, the staff made the party - dancing and singing. They made a lovely buffet for all to enjoy.

My husband's stroke and subsequent need for a care home placement came as a shock to him and the whole family - a daunting experience.
However, since being at Parklands, my husband has received the best care and attention from all staff. They have taken the time to get to know him personally and then
know how best to deal with any issues that might arise. They engage with him socially whilst performing their relevant care duties.
As for myself and my family, we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. The staff obviously have the experience to understand the pressure this situation puts on loved ones. They have got to know us by name and socialise with us whilst we're there besides checking our needs too.
Every member of staff that we have encountered has helped us through any difficult situations that have arisen and even gone beyond their duties to add that little touch.
No one wants a care home for a loved one, but we are glad we chose Parklands, Bedwas.

This is a wonderful care home. The staff are lovely and my grandmother is so happy here. The care that she receives is outstanding. As a family we couldn’t be happier with how well she is treated. I highly recommend.

I'm so happy and relieved with the way that my lovey nan is treated here. Everyone is so kind and helpful when we visit. My nan has dementia but I really feel she is thriving since arriving here. I really appreciate the staff here, and it's lovely to see how well they treat and adore my nan. My only
wish is that her room was bigger as we have such a big family to cram in when we visit.

Alison has gained more than 25 years of experience in providing care and support for older people to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest possible standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at HC-One for a number of years before moving over to Parklands, Alison shares that HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She uses her experience to motivate her team to deliver care and support in a way that Residents gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


She also works hard to arrange events and activities with nearby organisations and is always quick to welcome the local community into Parklands.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Alison said: “Spending time with Residents and listening to their views and any feedback they would like to share.”


Outside of work, Alison enjoys holidays abroad, speaking French and spending time with her family and friends.
