Thank you to all the Staff looking after my dad. The staff are very supportive and looked after my dad so well. It was nice to see my dad joining in with some activity and how they brought the activity to his bedroom when he didn't feel well enough to join the others downstairs.

The home have been great with Nan. Nothing is too much trouble. The staff are amazing, professional, friendly and warm. My nan had always been anxious of going into a care home. She’s enjoyed the Vyrnwy Nursing Home so much that she’s decided to stay (rather than try to continue to live independently
with carers coming into her home). This says it all about the quality of care.

My Mum is at Vyrnwy Nursing Home and it's a straightforward easy review - 'we couldn't have got any better'. Not only the excellent professional care from all the staff (thank you) but it's the small things that Vyrnwy will do that add up even more; charging her phone, making sure she's ready for a
family day out, going over to the shop for a few things for her, and just the good day to day chat.

Following a serious stroke and four months of hospitalisation Dad was confused, disorientated and unhappy with his loss of mobility. Dad has already had a stay in a care home but with the stroke, he was unable to go back. We therefore have a benchmark to rate Vyrnwy against and find them equally caring
to dad and the family. Dad's condition has resulted in him being challenging and the staff have dealt with him with respect and care. His room is excellent, ensuite facilities requires cosmetic fix, hence the rating.

Dad need some respite care (two weeks) so he was fortunate enough to be placed in the Vyrnwy Nursing Home. On arrival, he was very apprehensive about the experience but the caring and attentive skills of the staff helped to ease the transition. During his stay, there were some upgrading works being
carried out but staff tried to ensure there was minimal disruption to residents. All in all, every style staff member treated Dad with dignity and respect and worked hard to ensure his varying needs were met. He certainly enjoyed his matters with you all! Thank you.

My mum has been a resident at the home for a few months.
We have just moved her closer to the family due to travel costs.
My mum was very well looked after during her stay and only ever had good words to say about all the staff.
We as a family would like to thank you all for your help and kindness.

In today's climate of staffing issues, this home is probably as good as you will get. I have confidence that my wife is in good hands and well cared for. She is terminally ill with Alzheimer's and other problems and can be difficult at times, but the staff are patient and caring. Nice touch: they knock
before entering her room.

My sister-in-law has been a resident in the Vyrnwy Nursing Home since early October 2021 and during that time has been extremely well looked after. She rates the food and support she has been given by all of the care staff, as excellent. My wife and I find the manager and all of her staff, welcoming
and caring for all of the residents.

My Mum is being so well looked after at the Vyrnwy Nursing Home - especially during the periods of lockdown. This has been a very difficult time - but being able to keep in touch with video calls that's been arranged is brilliant. The care and dedication everyone gives is amazing. The lady who organises
the activities is brilliant, involving the residents in all kinds of activities. Thank you everyone. I love the facebook pages.

Mum has been receiving care at home for around four months now. It has taken a while for her routine of care to settle in. This is partly due to Mum's needs changing and the covid situation, at present. Mum really likes all the girls who care for her and they have built up a good relationship. I personally,
find management really accommodating, especially since Mum's medication constantly changes. The staff are completely professional, reliable and always are available to help. The most important thing is Mum is very happy with the care that she receives.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.731) out of 10 for Vyrnwy Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.806 for Vyrnwy Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (167 Excellents x 5) + (29 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 201 Ratings = 4.806
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Vyrnwy Nursing Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
