At the start of Dad's journey I was very anxious about his move to a care home. The manager and her team were so supportive to me and my Dad at a truly difficult time. A dementia journey is a long and cruel one, however the whole team made sure that my Dad's needs were met and kept me informed of anything that happened, consulting me on all decisions made. My dad received the best care and although there was a few minor issues in the beginning,I couldn't have asked for better care in his final months. The activities co-ordinator was excellent and there was always something fun and inclusive for Dad to take part in.

I had to make the very difficult decision of choosing a care home for my mum which isn't an easy thing to have to do. I visited many, but from the moment I walked into The Orchard in Tullibody, life truly did change for the better.

My mum was a resident there for over 3½ years. When she first arrived, we were told she may only have a few weeks left, as she had just come out of hospital and was extremely thin and unwell. Thanks to the incredible care she received, she far exceeded all expectations. The staff looked after her as if she were part of their own family - always kind, encouraging, and compassionate.

All the staff made you feel very welcome, which I truly loved. They took over the care of my mum, allowing me to have precious mother-and-daughter time with her again. I will be eternally grateful for everything they did for both her and me. They were always available to talk whenever I had any worries about my mum's health, which gave me great reassurance.

Mum was placed in care home and from day 1 has been given excellent care, dignity & understanding of her needs and requirements.
Mum is settling in well and has great interaction with all staff, the staff know what Mum likes/dislikes.
Mum couldn't walk due to leg ulcers, now 4weeks off the dedicated care and time my mums legs have improved so much she can now start to walk again.

I cannot praise the dedicated staff enough, they are very approachable, dedicated and not recognised enough. They have put my mind at ease of Mum in care home.

The Orchard is a very well run care home where my dad received outstanding care from all the staff. He was given first class personal and emotional care and a lot of the staff went above and beyond. There is always something happening here and it has a friendly, happy, caring vibe which is apparent the minute you walk through the door. It is like a giant caring hug.

All care and attention was taken when Mum became ill and was taken into hospital. We thank all staff members for their care and attention at that time. As a family we valued the care that Mum was given in the three years she was in The Orchard Care Home. We thought more training could be given to the use of hearing aids and this was a small annoyance as they weren't always on when we visited.

Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at The Orchard Care Home

Thank you for your kind comments regarding the care your mother received at The Orchard. We would also like to thank you for your suggestion about the required training. The Home Manager will look into this matter and provide any training required.

Having had visited this home many years ago I was reluctant to consider it for my father-in-law. However, from the first visit, I knew that it was to be his home. Has everything been perfect? No. Have we had to ask for things to be done/changed? Yes, we have. But at every opportunity, staff have been open and responsive. My father-in-law who had dementia has been safe, content and happy. He was loved, truly loved, by those who cared for him. He was an easy person to love! Having just lost him, as a family, we have been astounded by the tender and thoughtful care extended to him and to us too. It's not the shiniest, the swankiest but it's warm, bright, happy and a little bit mad, like all the best homes. Thank you so much from us.

Reception areas are lovely and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. Activities are good, especially when there is music. Sometimes my mother looks quite dishevelled, hair all sticking up and clothes look as if they have been thrown on.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at The Orchard Care Home

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave us a review and for your comments regarding the environment and the activity provision at The Orchard Care Home. I am very sorry that you sometimes find your mother is dishevelled. The home manager will share your concerns with the team to prevent it...

On the whole, we are satisfied with mum's care and the Orchard Care Home in general. The staff and manager are approachable and helpful. The layout of the bedrooms lets the score down slightly as it would be better if mum had a view of the birds and trees but unfortunately, the positioning of the furniture etc doesn't allow for this. Food and drink we don't really know about as the meal plans aren't up to date and we have had a few issues with regards to her juice and tea.

The Orchard Care Home looks after my mother with care and cannot do enough for her. She is content and happy and absolutely adores the staff and carers. My mum does not have dementia so she is aware of all that goes on around her. Myself and my family are more than satisfied with the level of care given to our mother, granny and grandmother. Everyone is lovely.

My dad had a pleasant 10-day respite stay at the Orchard Care Home. During his time there, he was always treated with respect and dignity, and the management and the staff did everything they could to make his stay as comfortable as possible. He really enjoyed the food and the entertainment provided, and we were impressed by how knowledgeable the staff were about every aspect of his care. It was definitely a positive experience for both my dad the the family knowing that he had been given the best of care.

My Dad was admitted to The Orchard Care Home at the beginning of April.

Dad has had a stroke and needed round the clock care. He has settled in great, he is happy and well cared for. I am happy that I can go see my Dad whenever I want and find him happy and content. The staff are great and are very friendly, so grateful to them all.

My father spent four and a half years at The Orchard Care Home. He lived with dementia. During his time at The Orchard the staff cared for him with kindness and respect. I found the staff highly skilled and knowledgeable and throughout my dads dementia journey the staff were not only there for him, they supported me and my family too. The staff were friendly and no matter how busy they were they always took time to chat and catch up with me during my visits. I always found the home clean and comfortable with lots of different entertainment and activities going on. My dad always enjoyed the musical entertainment. My dad enjoyed the food and being a tea jenny, he enjoyed the endless cups of tea! My dad sadly passed away recently and during his final days staff ensured he was kept comfortable and treated with dignity. My family and I were able to stay with him until the end and staff ensured we had food and drinks and that we were comfortable at his bedside. I can highly recommend The Orchard.

I am so pleased and grateful that my mum is living here at The Orchard. She was welcomed from the first day she was admitted and has blossomed under the excellent care she receives from all the staff. I have found that the staff treat Mum with dignity and respect and deliver person-centred care. She appears happy and relaxed when we visit and we as a family are always welcome. The Orchard Care Home is an excellent home and I would recommend it highly.

Our friend spent three weeks at Orchard Care Home. He received good care and settled well, after his transition from hospital. The staff were very supportive and helpful. His laundry was tagged which we felt was a good facility. His medication was dealt with and he also received his flu and covid booster. In a short space of time, at Orchard, he was provided with an excellent standard of care.
