Very friendly experience and approachable staff felt able to ask questions and freely visit at any times. Having never visited a home before I didn't know what to expect, however, the staff put me at ease and made my experience easier than I expected. My mother in law seemed happy and well cared for.

The care my father received in this home was beyond reproach, the staff were most excellent, friendly, welcoming, professional and above all else, caring. They were very familiar with and aware of his needs, his condition, what he could do and what he needed help with. When it came to time for palliative care, I and my family could not have asked for more. He was extremely well looked after in a dignified and caring manner, as were his family. At the very end, he was treated to a 'brilliant' laying out and room arrangement.

I am very pleased with the care my mother has received over the last 8 years. Staff group excellent, as is communication between them and myself. My mother feels very well cared for and valued and this provides much-needed peace of mind for our family.

I was pleased with my cousin's review - she seems to be settling down now. I feel she is being well cared for so I can relax knowing she is in the right place. The entertainment is excellent and she loves it. I know I can speak to any of the staff if I need to. On the whole, things seem to be working out alright.

I am very pleased with the way staff processed my mother's admission to the care home. They have tried to accommodate her wishes and have made my father feel very welcome, supporting him as much as my mother.

Mum has a lovely room and have been socialising and enjoying the entertainment laid on as she wishes.

I am extremely happy with the care my grandfather receives. He has vascular dementia and also struggles with the pain of neuralgia in his face. All staff are very understanding of his conditions and treat him with respect and dignity at all times. I visit regularly and have always found him to be comfortable and well dressed etc. I have also had meals with him and thoroughly enjoyed them. He speaks highly of the food and is always offered more than one option. Any minor queries we do have as a family are dealt with very quickly and effectively.

I was happy with the treatment my father received during his stay at the home, so when my wife became ill with dementia, I was happy to put her in there. The staff and managaress are very professional in the way they handle her and the process of her being admitted was excellent. I would strongly recommend The Orchard care home because of their professional and caring attitude.

Pros:

Nursing staff, 24-hour staff, socialisation, outings, own room/bathroom, open visiting, approachable staff, acting on issues in a timely manner, proactive staff keeping an eye on my Dad's ever-changing health, good communication and atmosphere.

Cons:

Carpets - continence issues, unhygienic smell of urine in the hallway despite the best efforts of the staff. Residents' dignity is compromised. Family forum meeting - was told senior management opposed to the removal of carpets in hallways. Senior management should be available at family forums.

1 page profile incomplete after a week of arrival

No bath or shower in 5 days - getting to know him approach takes far too long.

Clothing issues - missing or wearing someone else's (with failing sight he's unable to see what is not his).

My father unfortunately only had less than three weeks in The Orchard. In this short time my mother and I were impressed with the overall feel and atmosphere of the home.

My dad passed away while in the home and I cannot express enough how professional, kind and caring all the staff were to all the family and when my dad passed they treated him with such dignity and respect. We will never forget the care we received.

My mother moved in during May 2016. At that time she was very frail and had lost a lot of weight. From the moment she moved in we realised that she was going to be well looked after.
Nothing was too much trouble and she started gaining weight.
She loved her time at the Orchard and we got a year with her. We wouldn't have if she'd stayed at home.

I can't praise the carers highly enough.

From the start, Dad was treated with dignity. His opinion mattered and if he did not want to do something, he was never forced. Staff were always polite and courteous towards him and us, the family. If he was having a meal or cuppa, we were always offered one, making him feel he was 'at home'.

From cleaning staff to management and nothing was too much trouble no matter how busy they were. If we found something wrong, they were quick to rectify it.

My dad entered The Orchard Care Centre in Alloa in Feb 2017. He was treated with the utmost respect and allowed to settle in at his own pace. I could not have asked for better treatment from all staff. From cleaners , carers, nurses and management, at all times. Nothing was too much for the staff, even down to surprise cuddles and wee dances in his room when dad felt low. They cheered him up and made me very welcome when I went for visits. Right up to his final hours of life dad was a person, not an item, to all staff at The Orchard once again thank you all. A great bunch and a credit to your profession. Even letting me take my dog in to see all residents not only my dad.

Thanks from me and Wee bandit.

I feel really content and happy now my Dad is in The Orchard. At first (day 1), I felt nervous for my Dad and couldn't settle, but phoning staff, they reassured me my Dad was fine and settled. Staff are all friendly and make me feel as if I am visiting my Dad in his own home, even get a cuppa.
