I have found Annfield House Care home to be a pleasant and friendly place. The care workers and nursing staff give 24-hour care to the residents and all are professional in carrying out thier duties. The management and support staff provide an excellent service in running the home. The building is in
a good state of repair and the security arrangements are satisfactory.

Annfield House Care Home is a very warm and welcoming place. The staff have always been exceptionally helpful and friendly when I have contacted them by telephone or in-person. Their care and compassion for all the residents is obvious for all to see and should be an example of the highest professional
standards which can be achieved with the right staff.

This care home came highly recommended and we were delighted to secure a place for mum. Since her arrival, her general condition has improved dramatically. The staff are excellent, caring, professional when dealing with residents and their family. We feel so fortunate to have secured a place.

More than two years ago I was managing to look after my husband at home. Unfortunately, I fell and badly broke my left leg. Before long our two children arranged to secure places for us here in Annfield. We are very settled here and really grateful for all the kind attention.

My mum moved into Annfield House at the end of August after an extended stay in hospital/intermediate care. Initially, she was quite unsettled but staff worked hard to reassure her and introduce her to other residents. She moved to the ground floor a few weeks ago and since then she has been much more
relaxed, as she has made a few friends with whom she is able to spend time with and has easy access to the garden area in good weather. Staff (including the handyman/minibus driver) are all very supportive and approachable and the activities cater to different interests. For my mum, outings and singing are particular favourites. Thanks to all staff for looking after my mum and helping her to relax.

Staff constantly display a warm and caring approach to managing our relative and other patients. There is a happy atmosphere which is very welcoming as soon as you walk through the door. Although Annfield House is an older building, the facilities are perfectly adequate. July has been a particularly
warm month and temperatures within the building have been very uncomfortable for all. If these temperatures persist in the future, air conditioning might need to be considered.

My dad was fortunate to have three weeks care at Annfield House after a spell in hospital. He was very well cared for and all the staff were very caring towards him. The place was very clean and nothing was too much bother for the staff.
The communication with myself was also good and as I live 140
miles away gave me peace of mind. Very impressed.

We are very happy with the care, support and treatment our mother receives. Food, entertainment and standards are very good. Thanks to everyone involved.

One very small criticism is that my mum has a very small room. We would like to be offered a move to a larger room on the ground floor when the

opportunity arises.

My mother spent several months at Annfield House Care Home and was treated with outstanding care dignity and respect.
The staff and management here not only supported my mum but my family also.
Always there to update me on mum's health or concerns Mum loved the friendly atmosphere created here.
I realize it's a truly hard step to take but I can honestly say my mum was treated like their own sadly mum passed away 26th July.
I cannot praise the staff here enough.
Thank you Annfield from the bottom of my heart.

Both management and staff are always professional, helpful, pleasant and welcoming. Staff know the residents well and are quick to pick up on any changes in the health and wellbeing of residents. Management and staff always make the time to discuss any concerns family members wish to raise.
The current
call system is quite outdated and would benefit from an upgraded system.
Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Annfield House Care Home

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.641)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.641) out of 10 for Annfield House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.841 for Annfield House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.841
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Annfield House Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.9
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
