Care in Annfield is excellent - 1st class with all residents needs being met in a quiet and caring manner. Residents are treated kindly with dignity and respect. The staff at all levels look after the residents with thought and giving individual attention at all times. As I am an independent person
I have access to all areas and I am able to take part in the social functions in and out of Annfield at any time. As a keen gardener, I tend to take care of our garden over the year which gives everyone pleasure.

This is the second time mum has spent at Annfield on respite and the same as first, it was a lovely time for my mum, allowing us to go on holiday and relax. She was so well cared for, the staff, nurses and domestic were all attentive and all her needs were met. She even befriended a resident who is
arranging to visit mum at home. The home is spotless, warm and welcoming she is looking forward to her next visit.

The manager, she is an absolute rock at all times. Her door is always open, she's always free for a chat to clear up concerns or worries about anything at all. She never stops whether she's at her desk working away or on the floor supporting residents, dishing out cups of tea or anything else in between.
Her team of nurses are second to none. They're always full of cheer and offer help, support and comfort at all hurdles, and in particular during the final days/hours of my friend after having a recent terminal diagnosis and losing her battle fairly quickly. The nursing assistants are coming along just nicely, but with such excellent support from other staff, I wouldn't expect any less. I can't praise the staff in Annfield enough for their hard work and such compassion. I cannot recommend them enough.

My mum age 95 died Christmas morning 2015. She was in Annfield House Care Home for about a year. My dad is 96 and in Annfield.
My mum was given the very best treatment and care. A family member visited most days and was always welcomed by the carers/nursing staff.
My dad has Altzheimers, he is always
smiling. I live in the area so go in most days. I could go in any time and dad always looks nicely dressed. I think the girls/boys (carers) should be praised for the love and attention they give to the residents, some of whom are bed bound. The menus are first class.
Each time I leave I feel good and always look forward to going in to see my dad the next day.

Thank you Annfield.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.641)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.641) out of 10 for Annfield House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.841 for Annfield House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.841
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Annfield House Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 50 registered maximum number of service users is 10. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10 = 0.9
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
