My mother has been well looked after and Balfarg Care Home has coped well despite the covid situation.

The staff are always willing to help and they have worked hard this past year to keep residents safe during the covid pandemic.

My mum is very well cared for at Balfarg. The staff are kind and attentive and mum is very relaxed with them, in fact, she is often hugging them! They do an amazing job and our family can't thank them enough for looking after our mum so well for us.

The level of care offered is exceptional and our family are made to feel welcome whenever we visit.

My mother has been in Balfarg for 8 months now. I cannot fault any of the services provided to her or regarding the staff. Staff are extremely professional and sympathetic. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Everything about the home is perfect. The food is incredible, as is entertainment, which is provided daily. Hygiene and cleanliness are faultless. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone because as in the name, they care!

Very happy with the care my mother receives at Balfarg Care Home. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere at the home, where members of staff, at all levels, are always very helpful and courteous.

Some areas of the home could do with upgrading but it is always spotless.

Overall quite satisfied but there is one area I must bring to your attention - unfortunately, your well-being coordinator at Balfarg needs to be looked at. To be blunt, she is very poor at what she does or what she is supposed to do. I don't think that - just for an example - reading about pit ponies and shetland ponies verbatim from a book or a sheet of paper is acceptable. Her activities have, at the most, five people attending and she actually sends some people asleep. (Not enough room to go into detail here) The other thing is the poor condition of the garden and seating in the garden.

This care home has such a welcoming atmosphere. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. The staff are all extremely helpful and very polite. The personal care is also of a very high standard. My Gran was very apprehensive going into a care home as she was still independent in her mind but not physically able. She is extremely happy and has settled in very well. She loves the entertainment and loves to blether.

Very happy with the care my mum is receiving in the care home.
It is a difficult job the staff have to do and issues they have to deal with. When my mum is good, she is happy and content.
I feel a good sense of relief that she is in the right place to cater for her needs - emotional, physical and social.

The staff are a friendly bunch - easy to approach. All good.

My grandad spent a short time here through respite care. I can't fault the staff as they met all the needs for my grandad. The activities coordinator was very kind and welcoming to my grandad. He preferred to be alone and in his room but the coordinator would spend a lot of time with him. My grandad was diabetic and the diet he was on was strict and the chef met the needs for him overall he loved staying here and as a family were very happy with the care.

Review from Y H (Daughter of Resident) published on 24 July 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The staff at Balfarg provide excellent care, however, it is evident that an increase in staffing levels would be highly beneficial to the residents. At present, staff turnover is high due to carers becoming frustrated by being unable to dedicate the time to provide the excellent standard of care they strive to give, considering the weekly cost it should be no issue for HC1 to employ extra staff.

Reply from Clare Sheehan, Careline Advisor at Balfarg Care Home

Thank you for your excellent feedback about the care at Balfarg Care Home. We do carefully monitor staff turnover and staff satisfaction and also assess Resident dependency so we can provide the appropriate level of staffing
