Our experience of Gowrie House Care Home has been a good one. Staff are friendly and helpful, food is good, rooms are kept clean. My husband has regained his health during his stay and is able to come home again.

My auntie has been in respite for 2 weeks. Every time I go in, it is so friendly. Staff can't do enough. It is clean. It has got a family atmosphere, so much for her to do. I have seen concerts,m bingo, videos, TVs, lovely lounges to sit in whilst visiting. My auntie loves the food and she said there
is plenty of it. So, overall I would rate this as home from home. Would not hesitate to leave my family here.

Gowrie House nursing home has a welcoming feel to it. It was originally a hotel and still has that ambience rather than that of a nursing home. Staff were very friendly and attentive to my Dad and made his stay there comfortable. Although I cannot fault the staff and care he received the building needs
to be brought up to a higher standard. Buzzers and sensor mats need to be in full working order, with sockets available.

Rapport with staff very good. Very friendly and caring. Gowrie House felt still very much like the hotel it used to be but could do with more funding to upgrade. Buzzer systems need to be more up to date which would allow more than one device to be plugged in e.g. Nurse call button, sensor mat, sensor

Very pleased with this care home was very amazed to see how professional the staff are and are on hand anytime you need them and residents treated very well and respected. Makes me feel very happy when having to leave my mother knowing she will be cared for.

My husband is very content and settled in this homely environment. He has been a resident at Gowrie House for nearly two years and I no longer feel stressed and worried about his care as I did before he moved there.

My mother was admitted into Gowrie House on 12th March 2018. The whole experience of her admittance and her settling in was all done in a very nurturing and caring way.
All the staff were very friendly and nothing was too much for them.
The manager is a lovely lady and always willing to go the extra
mile to ensure my mother's needs are met.
I would like to thank them all for the continuing care and commitment to all the residents.

How to start off describing my life over the past two years is no easy task.
Firstly, the shock of the sudden death of our beloved son, followed shortly after my diagnosis of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, was too much for my body to bear.
I don't remember much of the rest of the next year and a half, except
being in hospital a lot for chemotherapy. I believe I suffered terrible "mind" disorders, but with the excellent care of all at Gowrie House, I have come back to "life" again and my memory has returned (for my age!). I know that, without the good care and attention of all members of staff, I would not have made this miraculous recovery.

Staff are helpful and friendly. My room and the home itself are kept clean as staff come in every morning and clean the toilet and my room. I enjoy the company at mealtimes but can sit in my room if I wish and do my knitting or watch the television. I have my hair washed and set every week. I have been
here for over 1 years now and am quite settled.

After a lengthy hospitalisation due to various illnesses including delirium, my wife was discharged to the care of Gowrie House. She was doubly incontinent, unable to stand and delirious. She was met at the door by caring staff and looked after so well that in ten months she was able to go home with
minimal home care. I am extremely pleased and thankful for the care, love and dedication provided by all the staff at Gowrie House which enabled my wife to return home. They really care!

When my mother needed full-time care, something I was unable to provide for her.
Finding the right care home can be a nightmare.
We did try one well known one, to begin with, but that did not work out, less said the better.
Needless to say, I needed to move her, and so I was apprehensive at first
when I first placed her in Gowirie House! but it was the best move possible, the care was second to none.
She was there for four years, and it was the best peace of mind I had had for years.
When she became terminal and was moved to the hospital, I was expected to stick to visiting hours!!!!!!
So when the home said they would take her back, the relief was unbelievable, plus I could stay as long as I wished .
The staff there are so thoughtful not just for their charge but family as well.

In my spare time, I support Celtic FC and attend as many games as possible. I also love to visit my son and granddaughter in Portugal.

Hi, my name is Richie Scobbie.
I am the maintenance man here at Gowrie House. I have been with the home for 2 and a half years now and enjoy being part of the Gowrie team. My role at the home is to maintain the home to a high standard making sure that all is safe for the residents and staff. When I am at home, I like to spend time with my kids going to their football games or fishing with my sons, we also like to go on family walks or do a spot of magnet fishing or camping.

Elaine is passionate about creating a warm, person-centred environment where residents feel truly at home, and where staff are supported to provide the highest standard of care.


Outside of work, she loves spending time with her three children and five grandchildren, describing family time as her favourite way to spend her spare time
