8.8 Grandholm Care Home has a Review Score of 8.8 (8.801)

The Review Score of 8.8 (maximum of 10) for Grandholm Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Grandholm Care Home in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.231 for Grandholm Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (16 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 117 Ratings = 4.231

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

The 4.57 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Grandholm Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 15.8 positive Reviews (79 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 9 Reviews ÷ 15.8 Target = 0.570

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

My late mother was admitted under interim care in December. The care she had was second to none. The staff were very friendly and always spoke when we visited. Sadly, when she took a turn for the worse, the staff and management couldn't do enough for her. They were magnificent with us too, nothing was any bother. I would highly recommend this care home and it's lovely caring staff.

My mother has been a resident at Grandholm for seven years. My family, and I are very happy with the care she receives. There was a difficult patch at Grandholm in 2012 but the hard work of the staff turned things around and made the home into a warm, caring place again - some of the staff are really outstanding. My mother is not able to eat on her own and due to the care she receives, her weight has remained stable for a long time. I always find that the staff are responsive to requests and do their best to make sure my mother is looked after in accordance with family wishes.

Thank you Mary for your kind words, we are very pleased that your mother is very happy at Grandholm.

My mother has been in Grandholm since February and we cannot believe the improvement in her. She looks ten years younger, she laughs and jokes with us when we visit and has been out more often in these few months than she had been in the last five years. She laughs and seems to get on well with all the people who work with her. We have always visited at different times, making sure we avoid mealtimes. The staff do not know when to expect us and we are always greeted with smiles. I feel if they had anything to hide we would be told when to visit.

My mum entered Grandholm in February. When we went to view the home we were impressed that the staff knew everyone by name. The size of the rooms are excellent and Grandholm is spotlessly clean. Since moving in, my mum has made friends, has gained weight and is happy and content. She loves all the nurses and carers calling them darling or sweetheart, which if she didn't like them she wouldn't be nice to them all. I would have no qualms about recommending Grandholm as a care home to anyone looking to place a family member.

Thank you Vicki for your kind words. We are so pleased that your mum is happy at Grandholm.

I would only suggest this home for respite or short term in an emergency. I feel the staff are generally very good however I am not impressed with management as there seems very little management and communication within the care home. And after a complaint this year management have at no time ask me if I am satisfied with the changes that have been made.

I am sorry to hear Diane, that you did not feel that I responded well to your request regarding your Father's bedding. A letter was sent to you and my staff have also spoken with you. I did suggest in the letter that if you wished to discuss things further then I would be happy to meet with you. Please feel free to come and speak to me at any time when you are next visiting to voice any concerns that you may have.

My mum has recently moved into Grandholm and has settled in well. The care and kindness my mum has received is more than I could have wished for. The staff always have a smile and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them, very caring and thoughtful staff who have a very demanding job at times.

Thank you so much for your comments. They are much appreciated by all the staff.

My husband has been very happy and settled down well at Grandholm, suffering from Alzheimer's and Dementia it is all I can wish for. The staff are caring and friendly although often seem overstressed with a lot to cope with on occasion. Overall there is a happy atmosphere there.

Excellent staff on care duties but have doubts about the domestic and housekeeping abilities as well as laundry service that is continually breaking down which results on clothes disappearing!! Why do they not have resources and working equipment, rather pay more than get this level of service.
