Overall Experience

I would describe Laurels Lodge as having a family atmosphere all staff are very friendly and approachable. The outside is very well kept and the inside is clean and modern. Meals are various so plenty of choices for everyone. Staff make sure all residents are clean and well turned out (men shaved and ladies' hair done). The activities are exceptionally good and all levels are catered for. Regardless of what the worker's title is everyone works as a team from manager to domestic and everyone in between this leads to a great atmosphere in the home for both residents and visitors, I am so glad my mum has come to stay at Laurels as I know she will be well cared for and safe.

My mum went into Laurels while Covid was at its peak.
I wasn’t allowed to see her in her own unit due to this. But it was made possible for me to see her.
When I was allowed to see Mum, she looked happy, relaxed, clean, and most of all, as if she was having the best time.
Once I was allowed up to her room, I was allowed to decorate it as much as I liked, and this was after it had been freshened up with new wallpaper and paint.
Mum always had a smile for all the carers, which I think says a lot.
Mum was happy, well-fed, clean and cared for. The carers went over and beyond with care.
They treated my mum as if she was one of theirs, with respect and dignity at all times.
Like family.
Sadly, my mum died in January of this year, and this is when the carers went beyond my expectations.
The care they gave both my mum and me was way beyond anything I expected.

I would highly recommend the Laurels to anybody considering putting their loved one into care.

My father moved into Laurels Lodge in November 2022. I could not ask for a better place for Dad. He is so well cared for and the staff are friendly, caring and compassionate. There are lots of activities and entertainment provided and families and friends are always welcomed with a smile and a cup of tea. The staff also ensure that we are well informed of any issues regarding Dad.

I would just like to convey my thanks to the manager and all her staff for Dad’s care and well-being.

My mother moved into Laurels Lodge at the beginning of August, having recently been diagnosed with vascular dementia. She has settled in very well and I am very happy that she is in an environment that she feels at home in. The staff put the residents at the forefront of what they do. It is a very caring environment. The home is very active on social media and it's great we get to see a snapshot of the day to day activities that they are involved in.

As a family, we are very happy with the way Laurels are caring for my husband. He has been in since December and although it has taken a while for him to settle he seems to be coping well. All down to the excellent staff who we feel always give 100% to caring for him. Well done to you all.

As soon as I had been shown round Laurels Lodge Care Home I knew it was the right care home for my mum. The building is clean, bright and cosy and the staff are so caring, helpful, kind and cheerful. Mum has been a resident for eight weeks and I'm happy to say she's settling in well. The staff have been very supportive with Mum's transition into residential care. The residents are well cared for and have a varied menu at mealtimes with a choice of good nutritious food. There's stimulating activities every day where residents, staff and relatives can get involved. It's really lovely seeing Mum smiling, singing and dancing again. Thank you to all the staff of Laurels Lodge Care Home, you are all angels.

My mum has been at the Laurels for a year now, and we couldn't have asked for a better place for mum to be. She is so well looked after by all the staff, who are so caring and compassionate. Most have them have been there for a long time, so they know all the residents (and their families, who are always made welcome) really well. Mum's appetite has improved so much since she arrived, which was a worry before, and there are always lots of activities and entertainment. Special occasions like Valentine's Day and Easter are celebrated, along with birthdays, which is lovely for the residents. Staff are always willing to join in the fun or even provide last-minute entertainment when bad weather gets in the way. The staff always let you if they are concerned about your relative, which is reassuring. It is a weight off my mind knowing mum is being well looked after by people who really care.

My mother is in Laurels Lodge Care Home and has been there for about three years now. All the staff and support workers take really good care of our mother and keep us well-informed on any issues. They did very well during the lockdowns etc. due to Covid and took great care to protect all residents. The main thing is that they retain all their staff, which is good for the residents that they see the same faces on a daily basis.

Since my grandma moved into Laurels Lodge, I've noticed a big improvement in her generally. She's eating well and more importantly, she's actually enjoying the food. She's also much happier now she's in the company of other people. The staff are brilliant with her. They promote her independence where she is able and assist her when she needs it. She looks well looked after. The staff are kind and caring and enjoy having a laugh with my grandma, which is just what she needs! At home she was so lonely, it's great to see the difference in her in just a few months!

The staff are exceptional with very many long-serving staff. This is highly unusual in the care sector. They all know my dad so well and they are so open and friendly with relatives. My mum entered Laurels during lockdown 2020 and it was the most difficult time for her. She has Alzheimer’s and was previously always such an independent woman. As a family, we have nothing but praise for all the excellent care and attention she receives from all members of staff, from the wonderful Care Home Manager, the nurses, care assistants, not forgetting the cooks, administration staff, activities co-ordinators, the handyman and the cheery cleaners! They are all involved in creating a ‘home from home’ atmosphere which you feel as you walk through the front door. Since services have returned to normal, after these last couple of years, I really appreciate them more as I can come in and visit mum properly, spending more time with her and I see all the care and dedication involved in looking after our loved ones. I highly recommend Laurels Lodge.

My dad has settled into Laurels Lodge. It has been less than a year. He seems to be happy within himself as he has dementia. The staff are always with him. He can be very stubborn, but the staff have got to know him and know how to handle his moods. I really appreciate the kindness of the staff, and I can finally know he has the care he needs. The home itself is very basic, but the staff are wonderful.

Before the pandemic, we visited our friend twice weekly. We got to know the staff and some of the residents very well. The staff were always friendly and attentive. The residents always looked clean and well looked after. We were always invited to take part in their social activities and the staff were always happy to join in dancing, singing and encouraged the residents to take part. Since the pandemic, we could not visit our friend as often. When we do get to visit it is lovely to see the same staff as before. This is reassuring for the residents. Laurels Lodge is always a very happy place.

My dad has resided at Laurel's for three years. Staff and management are caring, welcoming, and know dad and the family as well. At present we can visit for an hour in dad's room or in a spacious visitors' room - if assistance is needed we buzz and staff help quickly. We are updated on dad's week/his behaviour and any changes - eg if he's been agitated/less cooperative or if all is well. No agency staff are used which is amazing and the place is 'handy'. I really have no negative comments to make.

While early days for my father, the resident, he has been welcomed into the Laurels community. He is settled and happy and has a good rapport with the staff who attend to him. He always smiles when they approach and responds in kind to the banter they share. In those moments, his character and sense of fun can be seen, and he is more present. To date, we are more than satisfied knowing he is in good hands and with those with his best interests at heart.
