My mum entered Laurels during lockdown 2020 and it was the most difficult time for her. She has Alzheimer’s and was previously always such an independent woman. As a family, we have nothing but praise for all the excellent care and attention she receives from all members of staff, from the wonderful Care Home Manager, the nurses, care assistants, not forgetting the cooks, administration staff, activities co-ordinators, the handyman and the cheery cleaners! They are all involved in creating a ‘home from home’ atmosphere which you feel as you walk through the front door. Since services have returned to normal, after these last couple of years, I really appreciate them more as I can come in and visit mum properly, spending more time with her and I see all the care and dedication involved in looking after our loved ones. I highly recommend Laurels Lodge.

My dad has settled into Laurels Lodge. It has been less than a year. He seems to be happy within himself as he has dementia. The staff are always with him. He can be very stubborn, but the staff have got to know him and know how to handle his moods. I really appreciate the kindness of the staff, and I can finally know he has the care he needs. The home itself is very basic, but the staff are wonderful.

Before the pandemic, we visited our friend twice weekly. We got to know the staff and some of the residents very well. The staff were always friendly and attentive. The residents always looked clean and well looked after. We were always invited to take part in their social activities and the staff were always happy to join in dancing, singing and encouraged the residents to take part. Since the pandemic, we could not visit our friend as often. When we do get to visit it is lovely to see the same staff as before. This is reassuring for the residents. Laurels Lodge is always a very happy place.

My dad has resided at Laurel's for three years. Staff and management are caring, welcoming, and know dad and the family as well. At present we can visit for an hour in dad's room or in a spacious visitors' room - if assistance is needed we buzz and staff help quickly. We are updated on dad's week/his behaviour and any changes - eg if he's been agitated/less cooperative or if all is well. No agency staff are used which is amazing and the place is 'handy'. I really have no negative comments to make.

While early days for my father, the resident, he has been welcomed into the Laurels community. He is settled and happy and has a good rapport with the staff who attend to him. He always smiles when they approach and responds in kind to the banter they share. In those moments, his character and sense of fun can be seen, and he is more present. To date, we are more than satisfied knowing he is in good hands and with those with his best interests at heart.

My husband has been here for five years, all that time I have been extremely happy with the care he has received. Any issues have been addressed immediately and I am particularly impressed with the attention to nutrition and personal care. Our visits are always well facilitated and all staff pleasant and helpful. The manager, in particular, is a real asset, always smiling, helpful, and makes time to listen even when busy. Wouldn't want my beloved anywhere else.

My mum was in the care of Laurels Lodge Care Home during lockdown due to Covid. Never once was I worried about my mum because I knew she was being cared for in every possible way. I cannot praise all staff and management staff enough. They are all totally dedicated. Mum was treated with total dignity at all times. I cannot praise all staff enough and I would recommend this as the place for loved ones.

Today was the first inside visit allowed since lockdown to see my mum. All safety measures were in place and adhered to. The manager and her team have kept our loved ones throughout this pandemic safe which our family appreciate and are so grateful to them. We have during this time always been encouraged to communicate via video calls and had outside visits when it was allowed. Hopefully, things will improve and we can continue to visit our mum as it's good for her wellbeing to see us in person.

Laurels Lodge Care Home provided excellent care for my elderly Aunt during the several years she resided there. I was always impressed by the professionalism of all the staff and their practice of keeping me updated on all aspects of her wellbeing. I was reassured and comforted by the fact that I knew she was in good hands with the Care Staff and Management. I would recommend this care home because all of the staff are friendly, caring and compassionate towards all of the residents. They go up and beyond the call of duty to make sure your loved one is cared for and their needs are met. I am pleased that my Aunt spent her last years in this Care Home. Thank you to all the staff.

I would definitely recommend this care home. The staff are always welcoming and know their residents, they always give excellent care. The staff will always contact family with any concerns regarding their family members. It has been very difficult not being able to visit, but the staff have constantly phoned giving regular updates. I know that there is virtual visiting as well, which I have not done as I find it difficult due to Mum having poor eye-sight and being hard of hearing. The staff also look into different dietary concerns for individual residents, always trying to encourage my mum with her intake. It is great that we can now do garden visits, but a hug goes along way, and we have to understand the importance of keeping distance to protect my mum and the staff. The staff do an excellent job long may they continue. Another point is the staff have been there a long time which shows their commitment and this goes a long way for family members,.

Both my father and mother are now residents at Laurels Lodge Nursing Care Home. My father was admitted from a long term placement elsewhere in June (he has vascular dementia) and we were then most lucky to secure a place for my mother to follow him 6th July: She has frontotemporal lobe. I cannot recommend Laurels more highly.

My parents, now safe and together in a loving and supportive environment. Obviously, due to the COVID 19 situation both my parents have had to settle in their new environment without me being able to help them adjust to settling into their new rooms and routines. However, it is a huge testament to the wonderful management of the home manager and the loving care and support of her dedicated, kind, supportive and warm staff, that they have settled so well and clearly both thriving and happy. I cannot believe how lucky we are and unreservedly recommend Laurels Lodge and the wonderful staff. Thank you so much.
