A very well managed care home.

Deeside Care Home provides excellent care for my father. He has dementia and is 93 years old. The staff are very caring and patient with him and he is very well looked after. The food is homemade and very good. His clothes are always clean and personal care is great. He is always clean and shaved as he would like to be. Hair is kept cut and tidy by a resident hairdresser.

My Dad went to live at Deeside Care Home in the Summer of 2017 and this is his first experience of living in a care home. At Deeside, there is a high standard of care and compassion from both management and staff at the Care Home. I have personally observed the loving compassion that the staff have for the residents in their care, and from my conversations with management and staff, they all know my Dad well and his ongoing needs. There is a friendly and happy atmosphere in this care home where management and staff go out of their way to please both resident and the resident's family. The resident and his/her needs are a priority in this care home. Although I live remotely and unable to visit my Dad on a regular basis, I have complete peace of mind that he is being very well cared for at Deeside.

My mother-in-law has dementia and is no longer mobile. She is very well cared for at Deeside. The staff are very caring and attentive. They notice small things that are wrong, e.g. skin damage and get them attended to before she is troubled by them. My husband and I are kept informed of any problems. The staff also pay attention to her personal style and dress her as she would wish if she were still able to choose for herself what to wear. The staff are also very welcoming and helpful to us when we visit.

Overall Experience

My experience of the management and staff at Deeside Care Home is that they are approachable and caring. Occasionally one feels that the staff are all at full stretch but I do understand the problems in this regard. I am sometimes a little concerned at the length of time residents are in the dining room over meal times as those who are finished early get a bit impatient and wish to move! All in all, I feel that a lot of effort is put into the caring process. Regarding food, I think this keeps to a good standard with the occasional blip when the food served does not quite match the menu.

Mum has settled into Deeside Care Home very well and I am confident that she is being well looked after. The staff are very caring and regular activities are provided for the residents. Staff pick up on any issues very quickly and appropriate solutions are found with the minimum of fuss. I don't think I could have found a better nursing home for my mum.

Deeside Care Home has so far been outstanding. My mum has been there for 5 months and myself and my family are extremely happy with the care she receives.

Our objectives when looking for a care home for mum were;

Safe, engaging, dementia-friendly environment.

Deeside delivers all of these things. Mum is never alone when I go in to see her. There are always staff close by and plenty of activities for her to take part in. She gets the right amount of support and the staff are always happy and pleasant. Staff are also very good at communicating with me about her care so I am always kept in the loop.

It is one of the more expensive care homes in Aberdeen, but having seen many others, I am happy to pay a little extra to ensure Mum gets the care she deserves.

Personally, Deeside has made the extremely difficult and heartbreaking decision of moving Mum into nursing care, much more bearable. They have been helpful and professional throughout.

My mum arrived at the care home in March. She was quite confused on arrival from hospital as she was recovering from a broken hip, she was also diagnosed with dementia and delirium. She has improved greatly at the care home and considers it as "home". She is happy and very well cared for by everyone. I am pleased with all aspects of the care home and would recommend it to any of my family and friends.

The care and attention from most of the staff are excellent. I admire the work they do without a lot of praise. Always smiling and willing to help residents. They try to provide lots activities to appeal to residents, hairdressing and nail services which are very important to ladies. Visitors and relatives are welcome and catered for very well. I would highly recommend Deeside Care home.

My aunt settled in well after her transfer from another home. Not the easiest of characters but the staff handle her extremely well. The manager runs a tight ship but is friendly and helpful - a great asset to the home. There is plenty of opportunities for outings and other activities, although perhaps a little more training for the activities coordinator would not go amiss, although I am aware of the difficulty of retaining/recruiting staff in this area. Overall an excellent home.

My brother-in-law has been in the Deeside home for some 4 years and the standard of care from manager to carer to catering/cleaning staff is excellent. They can not do enough for you with cups of tea etc. The standard of catering os of hotel standard. I only hope if something happens to me, there is a place like this for me.
