my father was a resident from may 2022, until he recently passed away in hospital , but was still a resident , in the time spent there he had many complex needs , he needed a lot of care , but tried too be as independent as possible , he managed with fantastic care from the carers, nurses, catering staff, and management, they always tried their best with him , he loved his music and quizzes and got involved when he could , he spent his last few weeks in hospital , but would rather have been at kirkburn , the staff always made me and my family welcome , with no restrictions on a visit , when he passed away , several members of staff attended his service and lined up outside the cemetry gate too see him off , nice touch from them and was appreciated by family , would highly recommend kirkburn court care home. well run and friendly. 10/10
Thank you for your very kind words, it was a privilege to have been involved in you dad's care. Will pass this review on to all the staff.
Dad and I were made to feel most welcome and our daily visits to the home were met with many a friendly face, a hot cuppa and a delicious cake. A real home from home.
Thank you for your very kind words about Kirkburn staff team, it was a privilege to have your mother in our care.
I speak on behalf of my family by saying that Barchester Kirkburn Court Care Home was excellent. It was a daunting prospect transitioning my grandad into a care home but it was a smooth process with the help of the kind and caring staff who were very attentive. It really felt like a home away from home. Knowing my grandad was being well looked after and cared for in the ways we no longer could, gave us so much reassurance. It was always pleasant going in to visit him and the friendly staff were always a pleasure to talk to. We felt very well looked after as visitors too. We can now look back knowing that my grandad was in the best place receiving the best care in his latter life with dementia and we are forever grateful to Kirkburn Care Home for that.

The care Mum received at Kirkburn was second to none. They went above and beyond to ensure all of Mum’s needs were met. The staff became her friends, and they spent time laughing and talking with her. They also looked after me when I visited Mum daily, always asking how I was doing. The end-of-life care Mum received was amazing and allowed her family to say goodbye, knowing she was treated with the utmost care, love and dignity until the end. No one wants a relative to have to go into a care home, but if this is something that becomes necessary for your family you could not get a better place for your relative than Kirkburn Court. My thanks and gratitude to all the staff who looked after my mum so well.

My mum was looked after so well by, her second family, the staff at Barchester Kirkburn Court Care Home. Having a severely disabled son of our own, we know to look for the wee things that are seen to and if they're seen to then you know the big things are seen to automatically. And my goodness they were definitely seen to. Not only did they attend to my mum with so much love, care and laughter but they looked after my dad who visited every day with the same love, care and laughter. Thank you.

My mum was here for five years, she and us absolutely adored this place, her home which she thought it was. Her end-of-life care was amazing, couldn't thank them enough, as well as looking after Mum they were excellent to us, as a family. Thank you Kirkburn Court Care Home, eternally grateful.

Very caring staff who boost my dad's morale every day. He has enjoyed all the activities that he has been asked to join in with especially the music and movement classes with the kids. The girls make sure that he gets food that he likes and enjoys at meal times which takes the worry off him as he is a very plain eater. My dad has made some new friends in the home and loves the staff who make sure that he doesn't want for anything, he is looked after 24/ 7 which has taken a massive burden off my shoulders and gives me more quality time to spend with my dad. Kirkburn has been through a renovation period and I can say it looks a million and proud to say that my dad is now a resident in this lovely home. Keep up the good work ladies and gents you are all worth your weight in gold!

The care my mam receives is exceptional, each and every member of staff go above and beyond to look after my mam and our family. The domestic helper came in today to do the en suite, spoke to my mam, and remembered even my name. The carers all are very good and also take a moment to support me when my mum is so ill. The admin staff are excellent. I must commend the manager, he runs a very happy staff, everyone respects his judgement, and I am always seeking his guidance and advice, I have complete trust in Kirkburn Court for the care of my mam.

A vulnerable, confused elderly lady had been found outside in freezing conditions. She was unable to remember her address and was cold, unsteady on her feet and anxious. The staff at Kilburn Court were wonderful, they brought her indoors straight away and several of them spoke kindly to her and reassured her that all will be well. Even though they were extremely busy she was given blankets and hot soup and every effort were made to identify her quickly and reunite her with her family. I'd like to commend the manager who took a personal interest in the lady and all of his team, they made her so welcome and comfortable and provided a warm place of safety to a stranger in need. Many Thanks.

All the staff were so full of fun during the Christmas celebrations. They decorated the main lounges and made it all feel so bright and jolly. They are caring and cheerful with time to chat about any concerns that I've had. They have taken on board my queries and helped sort them out.

My aunt is happy and settled after leaving a very independent life behind. She has been treated as the individual she is, with respect and care. The staff are warm, and supportive and keep me up to date with key information. I can not thank the entire Kirkburn Team enough for facilitating the supportive relationship we now have.

In the six months since my father moved into Kirkburn Court, I cannot fault how he has been cared for in any way. He is, in my opinion, very well looked after, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful, and nothing ever seems like too much trouble to them.

My sister is in care at this time, and my brother was in care also but passed away approx seven years ago. I was the guardian of my brother. All the staff not only cared for him but for me also, which I sincerely appreciated. I now visit my sister on a weekly basis, though it's been difficult over the last couple of years with Covid. All the staff have continued to care for and (assist where necessary) for my sister and me. I can only thank you all.

My mum has now been in Kirkburn Court for five years due to her being a dementia sufferer. I cannot praise the manager and his team highly enough for the care they give. The carers are so patient with her, and they are immediately on to any medical issue that may arise.

My mom has been in Kirkburn Court since April 2021. During Covid, I have not been able to travel from Canada to visit my mom. However, during this period, we have only heard great things from my sisters and my mom. My wife and I arrived this week, and we already have the highest regard for all concerned that take care of my mom. We would also like to thank all the staff for the kindness the staff have shown us since we arrived. Please continue to carry out the excellent service you provide.

Kirkburn Court is an excellent nursing home. The management and staff provide a very warm, welcoming and relaxed environment for residents and families too. I have experienced much kindness and consideration from all the staff. We are always made to feel welcome and encouraged to "speak up" immediately regarding any concerns. The care and attention provided to my mum are wonderful. Every member of staff is so kind and considerate, they show great compassion, patience and understanding towards my mum, but they are always very professional in their support to her.

My mum and dad moved into Kirkburn Court in December 2017. They were both suffering from dementia. I was so worried about them going into a care home, but from the moment they went in, I knew Kirkburn was the best choice for them. They had a beautiful double room with a lovely view across the grass to the trees. Mum and Dad settled in quite quickly and that was all thanks to the staff in Kirkburn. Having looked after them at home for two years previous to them moving into Kirkburn, I know how hard it can be to look after anyone suffering with dementia. I must commend the wonderful team of carers for the loving care, patience, respect and dedication they showed to Mum and Dad. On my daily visits, I was always met with a smile and made to feel very welcome by every member of staff. I felt like I became one of the Kirkburn family. The manager was so approachable and understanding too. I lost Mum, then Dad, but I will forever be indebted to each and every member of staff. Thank you all so much.

I need not have worried, her care was first class. The carers are brilliant, very respectful, cheery, and preserving my wife’s dignity at all times. Great meals, a comfy room, and a friendly atmosphere pervades the home - greatly enhanced through the activities providers - one to one chats, creative quizzes, games concerts, etc.
All staff, from the cheery welcome at the door, carers, housekeepers, kitchen staff, and activity providers have been fantastic, making Kirkburn Court a real home for those who are unable to stay in their own homes due to care needs.
We are deeply indebted to Kirkburn Court and the staff for all they have done in caring for my wife during her stay there, particularly during the challenging months of lockdown.

My Father and Mother went into Kirkburn Court in November 2019 and were looked after with great respect, sadly my mother passed away with an illness she had before entering Kirkburn Court, my father is very happy to be in the Home as they all look after him so well, he is also spoilt for choice at mealtimes and has put on weight since entering the Home, he has not looked so fit and healthy for many years. All the best to every one of the staff for taking so much care of my Father.

My parents went into Kirkburn Court due to failing physical health. Kirkburn was the home they chose having previously visited relatives there and seen how well cared for they were. Even before they arrived in the home, the rooms were made ready with personal pictures and furniture. They benefited so much from having carers tend to all their needs and also appreciated the lovely meals and frequent variety of concerts. My Mum passed away after just 3 months in the Home and I must say that the care she received in that time was second to none, with nurses and carers making her as comfortable as possible in a friendly, dignified manner. My Dad has coped extremely well with my Mum's passing and this has a lot to do with the support he has had from the staff in the home. He is very settled and certainly views Kirkburn as home now. Knowing he is being well cared for and so happy helps us all. As a family we are so grateful and delighted with the ongoing care he is receiving.

Hi, my name is David, and I am the General Manager here at Kirkburn Court.
I have worked in the Care Sector for the past 30 years, in a varied range of positions. I started as a Care Assistant in 1986 and have been involved in the management of care home services for the past 9 years. I joined Barchester Healthcare, here at Kirkburn Court, in June 2015 and the warm welcome from the residents, their families and staff have helped me settle very well into life here as General Manager.
