All the staff were so full of fun during the Christmas celebrations. They decorated the main lounges and made it all feel so bright and jolly. They are caring and cheerful with time to chat about any concerns that I've had. They have taken on board my queries and helped sort them out.

My aunt is happy and settled after leaving a very independent life behind. She has been treated as the individual she is, with respect and care. In the six months since my father moved into Kirkburn Court, I cannot fault how he has been cared for in any way. He is, in my opinion, very well looked after, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful, and nothing ever seems like too much trouble to them.

My sister is in care at this time, and my brother was in care also but passed away approx seven years ago. I was the guardian of my brother. All the staff not only cared for him but for me also, which I sincerely appreciated. I now visit my sister on a weekly basis, though it's been difficult over the
last couple of years with Covid. All the staff have continued to care for and (assist where necessary) for my sister and me. I can only thank you all.

My mum has now been in Kirkburn Court for five years due to her being a dementia sufferer. I cannot praise the manager and his team highly enough for the care they give. The carers are so patient with her, and they are immediately on to any medical issue that may arise.

My mom has been in Kirkburn Court since April 2021. During Covid, I have not been able to travel from Canada to visit my mom. However, during this period, we have only heard great things from my sisters and my mom. My wife and I arrived this week, and we already have the highest regard for all concerned
that take care of my mom. We would also like to thank all the staff for the kindness the staff have shown us since we arrived. Please continue to carry out the excellent service you provide.

Kirkburn Court is an excellent nursing home. The management and staff provide a very warm, welcoming and relaxed environment for residents and families too. I have experienced much kindness and consideration from all the staff. We are always made to feel welcome and encouraged to "speak up" immediately
regarding any concerns. The care and attention provided to my mum are wonderful. Every member of staff is so kind and considerate, they show great compassion, patience and understanding towards my mum, but they are always very professional in their support to her.

My mum and dad moved into Kirkburn Court in December 2017. They were both suffering from dementia. I was so worried about them going into a care home, but from the moment they went in, I knew Kirkburn was the best choice for them. They had a beautiful double room with a lovely view across the grass
to the trees. Mum and Dad settled in quite quickly and that was all thanks to the staff in Kirkburn. Having looked after them at home for two years previous to them moving into Kirkburn, I know how hard it can be to look after anyone suffering with dementia. I must commend the wonderful team of carers for the loving care, patience, respect and dedication they showed to Mum and Dad. On my daily visits, I was always met with a smile and made to feel very welcome by every member of staff. I felt like I became one of the Kirkburn family. The manager was so approachable and understanding too. I lost Mum, then Dad, but I will forever be indebted to each and every member of staff. Thank you all so much.

My wife was looked after in Kirkburn Court for nearly two years till she died in April 2020. Like many others, I’m sure I was very apprehensive about her going into full-time care. She had advanced dementia and by then was immobile due to breaking her hip.
I need not have worried, her care was first
class. The carers are brilliant, very respectful, cheery, and preserving my wife’s dignity at all times. Great meals, a comfy room, and a friendly atmosphere pervades the home - greatly enhanced through the activities providers - one to one chats, creative quizzes, games concerts, etc.
All staff, from the cheery welcome at the door, carers, housekeepers, kitchen staff, and activity providers have been fantastic, making Kirkburn Court a real home for those who are unable to stay in their own homes due to care needs.
We are deeply indebted to Kirkburn Court and the staff for all they have done in caring for my wife during her stay there, particularly during the challenging months of lockdown.

My Father and Mother went into Kirkburn Court in November 2019 and were looked after with great respect, sadly my mother passed away with an illness she had before entering Kirkburn Court, my father is very happy to be in the Home as they all look after him so well, he is also spoilt for choice at mealtimes
and has put on weight since entering the Home, he has not looked so fit and healthy for many years. All the best to every one of the staff for taking so much care of my Father.

My parents went into Kirkburn Court due to failing physical health. Kirkburn was the home they chose having previously visited relatives there and seen how well cared for they were. Even before they arrived in the home, the rooms were made ready with personal pictures and furniture. They benefited
so much from having carers tend to all their needs and also appreciated the lovely meals and frequent variety of concerts. My Mum passed away after just 3 months in the Home and I must say that the care she received in that time was second to none, with nurses and carers making her as comfortable as possible in a friendly, dignified manner. My Dad has coped extremely well with my Mum's passing and this has a lot to do with the support he has had from the staff in the home. He is very settled and certainly views Kirkburn as home now. Knowing he is being well cared for and so happy helps us all. As a family we are so grateful and delighted with the ongoing care he is receiving.

My father transferred from another home to Kirkburn at the beginning of the year and within a matter of months, there was a remarkable change in his overall health, appearance and welfare. The friendly and compassionate staff who are well trained have reassured my mother that my father's dignity and
progressive dementia are a priority. Our family, therefore, believe that Kirkburn Court is money well spent.

Kirkburn Court provides the complete package. I have entire faith in them to care well for my mother and father. The nursing, the care and the admin/organisation are all at such a high level. All staff encountered are very friendly and helpful and are obviously liked by my parents. It is reassuring
to know they are safe and as happy as they could be residing away from their home.

My mother only stayed at Kirkburn Court Care Home in Peterhead, for three months before she passed away. I want to convey my gratitude to all the staff for initially welcoming my Mum into the home and making her short stay comfortable and a home from home. In her final days, she received excellent palliative
care and particular care was also given to the family's well-being at such a stressful and difficult time. I would have no hesitation in recommending Kirkburn Court Care Home to those who need the special service they have to offer.

The home needs more carers in the lounge and generally. At nearly 3pm an old man still had his dirty bib on his glasses had fallen in his pudding bowl. Another man was shouting terribly loudly and someone called out "shut up". Two women got into a fight throwing cushions. Finally, a carer came and
sent one to their bedroom but the other carers were all busy in the room. I hate leaving my old friend in that environment. Another day earlier in the month, some carers were having a break and a nurse spotted an old man carrying excrement with his nappy down and she was dealing out the drugs so poor soul had to run and lock up her trolley and quickly take the poor chap away.

My mum is a resident in Memory Lane, Barchester Kirkburn Court. I visit my mum as often as I can and sometimes this is in the afternoon, later in the evenings or quite early in the morning. Recently when I went to visit my mum it was quite late on in the evening. She was not in the lounge or wandering
about and when I went into her room, I heard voices from the toilet. I remained very quiet and did not call out. I sat on the bed and listened to the conversation between the carer and my mum. I must say my heart filled as I heard the carer talk to my mum whilst helping her, calling her "sweetheart" and being very patient and kind. If I had any doubts about my mum's care (which I didn't and don't have) these would have vanished on the spot. It is so comforting to know that my mum is looked after in such a loving and caring way. One evening recently I popped in around 7pm. A good few of the residents were in the dining area with song sheets and two of the carers were singing away encouraging the residents to join in. Everyone singing and having a great time. I had a few tears as a few of the songs were songs that my mum and dad used to sing. We all has a laugh about that. It was great. The staff at Barchester Kirkburn Court are amazing and it is such a comfort knowing that my mum is so well looked after and loved in Memory Lane. It has taken such a worry off my shoulders. I know that although he was heartbroken at mum having to go into care, my dad was so glad that she would be looked after properly and told me before he died that he could go in peace knowing mum was looked after. All the staff are lovely, kind and caring and I have recommended Barchester Kirkburn Court to many people. Prior to my mum moving into Kirkburn Court I visited all the care homes in the area to check them out and I can honestly say Barchester Kirkburn Court were the only home that allowed me full access when I just "popped in." I didn't have to make any appointments and was allowed to look around whenever and wherever I wanted. I know I can honestly and truly say that I made the right choice in arranging for my mum to be in the care of Barchester Kirkburn Court and I will be forever grateful for them making my mum feel safe, secure and loved.

Hi, my name is David, and I am the General Manager here at Kirkburn Court.


I have worked in the Care Sector for the past 30 years, in a varied range of positions. I started as a Care Assistant in 1986 and have been involved in the management of care home services for the past 9 years. I joined Barchester Healthcare, here at Kirkburn Court, in June 2015 and the warm welcome from the residents, their families and staff have helped me settle very well into life here as General Manager. I enjoy ensuring that residents and staff are well supported within the daily life of the home.
