The lassies who come in here are lovely.
I don't want to praise them TOO much - so tick 'good'.
The food is lovely, and plenty of it. They're always bringing cups of tea.

My room is very comfortable - I've got everything I need.

Fabulous care home, the surroundings are beautiful and my Mum is shown care with dignity and love!

She is thriving and loves it! The activity programme is so entertaining. I doubted when she first went that it wouldn't be for her, but I eat my words!!! Thankyou all for everything you do!!!

Transition from hospital to Pentland View was effortless. Mum settled in fairly quickly, staff are amazing & so kind - nothing is too much trouble for them. We have no concerns or worries about Mum being there - All the activities on offer keep her mind occupied - better social life than me!

My Dad went into the home in Sep, and he only had a little over a week then got moved itno the dementia unit, which has very little in the way of entertainment, it's always videos of the Queen on the TV. Communication is terrible, its hard to find a nurse to talk to.Carer told me I have to speak to a nurse to find out how he is. Some of the staff are very helpful and nice, but I am afraid some are NOT. My dad often missed breakfast & meals a sthey leave him asleep even when asked to get him up for food as he's loosing weight. They have lost his hearing aids which cost £3500.

Mum is being very well looked after. She has now been in Pentland View for 2 years, whilst she is never keen to leave her room the staff continue to offer opportunities to do so. We are grateful she is not left in her room and for the times when she joins events. She also particularly enjoys visits from therapy animals and the staff always make sure she gets a visit, she is enjoying the food and is now drinking enough for the first time in a long times. Finally we are always made very welcome when we call and visit.

Our family has now entrusted our mum's care to Pentland View for three and a half years. In that time we have developed very good relationships with the staff, who know our mum very well. The are aware of her needs and care for her with good humour, patience and sensitivity.

Communication is particularly good; we never hesitate to call or email and, likewise, staff know they can contact us. We are reassured to know that our mum is safe and very content at Pentland View.

The respite and subsequent end of life care given was absolutely outstanding.
All the staff from cleaners, carers, nurses and management have been so kind, friendly and understanding.
We could not fault a single thing.
We feel so fortunate to have been able to get a bed just when we most needed it.

Thank you to the manager, clinical lead (there are many more to thank) what you do makes a huge difference. Thank you.

The care my husband is given is of the highest quality. Also, the activities are amazing. Always stimulating and enjoyable. The staff are friendly and vigilant to the needs of the relatives as well as being exemplary. I personally have felt 'listened to' by staff/management and been shown great kindness.

We have had such a positive experience, as a family, with the care my dad is receiving at Barchester Pentland View Care Home since he has resided there these past few months, I felt the need to share. We have found the staff to always be professional, friendly and really caring towards my dad and other residents under extremely challenging situations. The care assistants, activity coordinators, nurses, management and domestic staff all do a brilliant job with a much-needed dose of humour and show tremendous kindness towards residents who at this stage in their life may have more advanced stages of dementia. I have found them to be honest and transparent when there have been issues with my dad. Above all, they have shown compassion and understanding not only towards my dad but also my mum who has been going through a tough time with the transition of my dad going into residential care. Well done Pentland View!

My wife was admitted to the nursing home in December 2023 suffering from dementia from day one the staff have been pretty marvellous in meeting her needs, she constantly needs reassurance and comfort from them to make her feel secure and so far they have provided it in spades for which I thank them.
The managerial staff have also been very helpful with advice as to how to manage my wife's condition and allocating extra support when needed with the help of the social work dept in the area and to them, I say thank you also.

It is early days yet but so far I can only commend their commitment to carry out a very difficult job.

I am very pleased with the care Mum receives here. During Mum's recent illness the staff could not have been more accommodating, helpful or understanding to our family. Nursing care has been excellent, with staff having a good understanding of dementia and cognitive decline.

My husband is very content, is looked after by very dedicated staff who interact with residents on all levels as well as with me and other visitors. I hold all nurses and support staff whom I met in high regard. Although I live quite a long way from the home, I am delighted my husband is in a loving and caring environment. I thank them all.

My wife has narrow veins and it is not an easy job to obtain a blood sample. A nurse in trying to get a sample tried and my wife ended up with five places where the attempt has been made. The dressings remained for a week. Someone more competent ought to have been chosen.

On a visit, refreshments came around including a small bowl of ice cream. My wife has arthritic fingers and can't use utensils. I went to assist her to eat it with a teaspoon and the care assistant wouldn't let me. I enquired why and was told she had to do it, not me. No reason was given. Not much care there!
