Our mother moved care home to Redwood in April 2022. She was in another care home prior to this period for six months, and the nursing care was awful. Since moving to Redwood, the care has been fantastic - so, so much better than the nursing care she received in the previous care home. The staff at Redwood are brilliant - so caring!
Thank you for your kind words; your mum is a pleasure to look after and well-liked by everyone.
Very happy with the constant care my relative receives. He has been a resident for almost 8 years and throughout that time the staff have gone way beyond the call of duty. I would happily recommend this home to anyone. My relative is in the dementia unit where the care is exceptional.
Thank you from all our staff for your kind words. Dana S
My husband has been a resident in the home for over 7-years. As a dementia sufferer, his care has been excellent in every way - physically and mentally. Lockdown was very difficult for everybody but was made "easier" knowing that the care given, in the past, would continue throughout that period. My sincere thanks to the manageress and her team for running such a caring home.
Thank you for your excellent review and kind words, very much appreciated. Dana S
My father has been a resident for 3.5 years and he is so very well looked after by the wonderful staff who go above and beyond the standards of care. My dad is shown such sincere care. He has just returned home to Redwoods, following a hospital stay and I know he will be happy to be home with the attention he gets from the extra special staff who care for him. I can't recommend Redwoods highly enough. I know he adores the carers and nurses by how he reacts when they speak to him. It is so good to know that my dad is so very well cared for.
Thank you for your lovely comments. Your dad has a large fan club at Redwoods who think the world of him.
The staff always welcomed you with a smile and were never afraid to assist in any enquiries. I had great peace of mind knowing my aunt had excellent professional care.
Thank you Kathleen, it was our pleasure to care for your aunt, she was a lovely lady. From all at Redwoods
We relocated my mother in law here to Redwoods in July after 6 months assessment in a dementia/psychological unit. She really wasn't doing well physically and mentally. She settled right into this care home due to all the staff's input, from cleaners to, friendliness and professionalism that has assisted her improvement. We are very happy and she loves her new home.
Thank you from all at Redwoods, your mother-in-law is a wee gem and a pleasure to have in the Home. E.MacKenzie.
Since my mother moved into Redwoods Home she has become much happier, healthier and content. This is down to the mixture of great staff, wonderful care and lovely accommodation.
Thank you for your excellent review and kind words, very much appreciated. E.MacKenzie.
Both my aunt and uncle were residents in Redwoods Care Home, my uncle for over 3 years. During their stay there they were very well cared for. The staff were always attentive and treated them like family. The standard of catering was excellent, both quality and quantity. There was regular entertainment and activities if they wanted to take part. Having experience of other care homes I would definitely recommend Redwoods.
Thank you from all at Redwoods, and remember, feel free to pop in to see us anytime. It was a pleasure to be given the opportunity to look after such a nice couple in Redwoods.
The staff at Redwoods are always welcoming. My Aunt is very happy staying there, it was a good move for her and the family. We know she is safe and happy and very often she hasn't got time to speak to us as she is in the garden or some other form of entertainment in the home. I might add we are delighted with her transformation as she is back to her old self since going into the home. I would definitely recommend this care home.
I as her daughter obviously felt concerned with my mother being placed in a care home but my worries were soon taken away when I saw the interaction my mum had with the staff and the staff with her.
From management to staff everybody is very approachable and I would highly recommend Redwoods care home to anybody looking for somewhere to place their loved one.
Thank you, from all at Redwoods, your mum was very much part of our big family.
My sister arrived into Redwoods Nursing Home in Alness after 17 weeks in hospital. From the very beginning of her stay, the staff have been fantastic in every way, very helpful and caring. We have been delighted with all aspects of her care and we could, in our opinion, not find a better care home.
After fourty six years of marriage, accepting you can no longer continue to care for your wife who has been diagnosed with dementia and also suffered a stroke is very hard. Having accepted this reality, with the help and support of our three daughters I started to investigate care homes and made an unannounced visit to Redwoods in January 2016.
First impressions were very positive, all the staff we met were very friendly and welcoming, the facilities which had been built as a care home in a crescent around an enclosed garden were well maintained and clean. My wife has now been resident in Redwoods for almost four months and I am pleased to say that during that time all our first impressions have proved to be correct. We were told during our first visit that we were welcome to visit at any time and reassuringly this has proved to be the case, with this offer extending not only to family, but also to family friends, who have all confirmed my positive view of Redwoods.

Meet the Team (2)

Situated in the picturesque village of Alness in the Scottish Highlands, Redwoods is a purpose-built home, set within the walled garden of an impressive Victorian country estate. The home provides high-quality nursing care to elderly people, including those with dementia and associated conditions.
A complete care programme
Featuring well-appointed ensuite rooms, Redwoods utilises some of the latest technology to make residents as comfortable and safe as possible. This includes a progressive secure dementia unit, which complements the existing nursing care facilities. As part of this, we encourage residents and their families to be involved at all stages of care planning and other aspects of care home life.
A social experience
Ensuring that residents can retain as much independence as possible is a priority at Redwoods, and with four spacious lounge and dining areas and a dedicated activities/reminiscence room, those in our care are able to enjoy socialising and participating in many of their favourite hobbies and activities. These spaces are also pleasant spots for residents to enjoy high-quality, nutritious meals produced by the highly skilled catering team.
Peaceful surroundings
The beautiful wooded surroundings make for a wonderful sense of tranquillity, and our secure gardens are extremely popular with residents wanting to sit and relax or perhaps indulge in a spot of gardening.

I have worked at Redwoods since 2014, starting in the Kitchen as an assistant while studying Psychology at The University of Highlands & Islands.
Once I Graduated with a degree in Psychology, I changed my role to work the night shift as a care assistant for 2 years, where I continued to work on my personal development, completing my SVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care.
I then moved onto dayshift where I applied for a Senior Care Worker position and was successful. I completed the 6-month course at Meallmore, and then the SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care. While working for the next couple of years I continued to learn and completed a course in Diabetes Management as well as taking on more responsibility within my role.
I then decided I wanted to progress further, and was successful in my application for the Senior Care Practitioner post at Redwoods. During my time working in this role, I completed more Meallmore training which taught me both Clinical & Leadership and Management skills. I took on a Lead position within the home Continence care, Learning and Development of staff as well as other champion roles. This helped me continue to develop my skills and practice.
I then applied for the Deputy Manager position in 2023 where I was offered the role. This is the current role I have within Redwoods which has been fantastic in continuously improving my practice and skills. I am currently working on a Leadership and Management course within Meallmore, as well as the SVQ level 4 in Health and Social Care.
Person-centred working is at the heart of my practice. I have worked over the years to support other care home staff to adopt this ethos in their work. This means supporting every resident in our home, in a manner in which they wish to be cared for while encouraging and promoting independence at all times.
