At Tranent Care Home, located in the town of Tranent, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, the team supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised nursing and nursing dementia care.

Tranent is a friendly home which offers many areas for residents to relax and socialise with friends and family. The fantastic amenities include a lovely garden which is tended to by residents, an on-site hair salon, cinema and hobby room.

Recently had my dad's review. I must emphasise the enormous care, empathy, kindness and professional support our family have received from the team who care for and look after my dad.
The nurse has excelled in her role and duty. She is a true ambassador for HC-One and should be rewarded in some way.
If there are any issues concerning us, the issues are either actioned or acted upon. One negative, please employ more nurses instead of agency and please, please have more staff on shop floor.

We did not want our mother to use residential care but the staff and the manager made us all feel relaxed and happy with the transition.


Mum is very happy and feels safe and valued. The care from the teams of staff could not be bettered. Mum is encouraged to eat and drink and to be out of bed and

joining in where she can.

Mum seems very comfortable. She has always throughout her life been a book reader. Although not a great mixer she is highly intelligent and keeps up with the news through us. She is kept well hydrated and very clean. I believe she is as happy and comfortable as possible given her circumstances and health.

At home this lady's needs, in relation to her care and support, could not be met by a package of care. At Tranent the risks to her welfare have been removed, and she is now safe.
I am confident that any necessary changes would be highlighted by staff and her care plan would be altered.

My mother passed away very peacefully on 25th May. I cannot speak highly of the staff who cared for mum, especially in the week leading up to her death. Everyone was so very kind and caring both to mum and myself at all times. I so appreciated their guidance and care in the early hours when mum passed
away. Thank you so very much. May I take this opportunity to wish everyone well in the future.

Since my relative has been in this home he has been treated with kindness and dignity. He can be difficult at times but the staff deal with this tactfully and with patience. The home is clean, the staff friendly and caring and the atmosphere is pleasant.

My gran was a resident at Tranent for 7 and a half years. During this time she received excellent care. Sadly, she died this week.
During her short illness, she couldn't have received better care. The staff showed so much love and compassion for her and treated her with dignity and respect at all
times. We, her family, were afforded similar care during her illness. We were kept informed at all times as to what to expect next and given much emotional support. As well, we were constantly provided with drinks and meals and even offered a bed for the night and use of showers. They really couldn't have done more and we feel overwhelmed by the care and support both we and my gran have received.
It means a lot to be able to die in your own home being cared for by people who know and care about you rather than by strangers. She was made to feel like a member of the family.
The management should be proud of their staff team.

To whom it may concern?.


I have been visiting my dear friend for the past 7 years..who was a resident in this nursing home../well really it was her home/she was very happy and contented.
Tonight at -7-30 she sadly passed away. I was a known visitor to the care home and was always welcomed by all

the staff and other residents. Over the past few days..I have to say. All the caring staff/nurses have been amazingly supportive/kind, caring and acted very professional in all aspects. I couldn't have wished for a better place for my good friend..to end her last 7years of her life. I will miss all their happy smiling faces. The care that was delivered at the final stage of death for my good friend..was just brilliant..What a great team!

The staff at the Tranent Care HOME are just amazing My husband was in their care for two months and the love and kindness shown was just wonderful. The home is spotlessly clean and the menus
wide and varied. The afternoon teas were mouthwatering, my favourite was the chocolate gateau.
Their kindness
to me was special and considerate. The day my husband passed away all the staff in and cried with me. My sincere thanks to you all for being there for us.

After a rocky start mum settled in really well so she obviously felt comfortable. Every time we visited mum always looked well cared for and the staff were always courteous and friendly.
Sadly mum passed away but in the last few days before her passing the staff were supportive, sympathetic and caring
to mum and all the family in equal measure. We were allowed to sit with mum and were brought tea/coffee/cake to sustain us as we sat with mum during this very sad time. We have nothing but good things to say about the care mum received whilst at the home.

My mother likes plain food, no curries, and the fish is mostly over cooked. I know they get 2 choices on main courses - could they not get 2 on dessert? Other than that she gets on fine. I think she has settled in now and she gets on well with the staff. Thank you.

Our Chef at Tranent welcomes feedback regarding the menu and current choices. If the dessert is not to a resident’s liking we have ice cream, custard, cream rice or a variety of yoghurt flavours. The fish is cooked so that it is flaky or cooked in a sauce and can be easily eaten by all residents in the Home. The other option is to have your fish breaded or crumbed.

You couldn't ask for better staff to look after your loved one my mother was there for 8 months and the care she got was up and beyond what you would expect the staff couldn't do enough to make my mother's stay restful and happy I'm pleased she had her last days there can't thank them enough
