The staff go into lots of detail to keep you up to date with everything. They will answer any questions and resolve any concerns. My friend feels safe here, what more can you ask for?

Each time I enter though it takes around 15/20 minutes before I see any staff member which makes things a little more difficult. I have been visiting for some time now and always get offered tea or coffee which is nice. Some of the home needs upgrades with chipped paintwork and old carpets etc.

My mum has been here since last year. She has changed all for the better and it puts my mind at ease knowing someone is always there if she needs them, which reassures her as well. Which is great as it is bringing back a lot of her confidence back.

I took my daughter out for her 7th birthday. Supported by staff willing to give up their own time to ensure I could go out with mine and make priceless memories that mean the world to me. Being in a care home does not stop me being with my family thanks to the staff and the general manager.

It took a long time for the bruising. Despite speaking to all staff, nobody admitted anything. So it remained a mystery how it happened. We always worry anyone could walk in, it's not very secure. We should get a discount on food as Dad is peg-fed and can't eat.

My mother had a fall - the promptness, care and attention to her and me was of an excellent standard from everyone - we cannot praise them enough. Always open to discussion and resolution if an issue arises, although we wait to see if new housekeepers can address laundry situations. Would prefer there was secure access at the front door.

It is hard to quantify, but the staff are consistently positive and happy, and this feeling of well-being seems to transfer to the residents and their visitors who always feel welcomed. It is clear that the staff really care about those they care for. The home has a new manager, yet there was no discernible change in the smooth running of the home. At a recent music festival organised for the benefit of the residents, all the care staff and management actively participated in a very enjoyable event. Cannot decide if I liked the zumba display, choir or hamburgers best.

Brian Arthur
My Name is Brian. I have been a nurse all told for nearly 16 years. Having studied at Napier University in Edinburgh. I have worked with Barchester for around 12 years. I first joined as part of the night shift team, which I have been doing for 7 years. Being in charge of a unit has its own challenges, one of which I relish. Making a real difference in our residents' lives is a wonderful thing to see. For most of our residents, we become a surrogate family. It is important to us all that a strong family feeling is important.
My life outside Drummond is all about my family, including my two dogs and, of course, my football team shhhhhh. Be it as a resident, staff member, or volunteer, come join us, you won’t regret it.

Hi, I’m Susan I joined Barchester in 2017, working across the 4 Barchester homes in the Edinburgh area. Coming to Barchester has allowed me to combine my passions of Health and Social care and training. I am passionate about ensuring everyone who attends our Barchester training has a positive experience that allows them to carry on shining in the care homes for our fantastic residents
Outside work, I enjoy live music going to gigs and spending my free time with my family and friends. My daughter is a regular visitor to the homes and loves joining in the many activities that our amazing homes organise.
