The staff are all very helpful and treat residents with respect which can be difficult at all times. I admire their patience and understanding in the dementia unit. The management team is also very good and spend time discussing the requirements.

My father was admitted for a week's trial with Alzheimer's which the home profess to be experienced with. However, all the staff were unable to cope with my Dad being disoriented after only 24 hours in a strange environment and showed no duty of care to repatriating him appropriately.
Fortunately, I have managed to organise this appropriately but this home is not as advertised able to deal with the challenging behaviour of mental health elderly patients.
I was contacted because he was pacing and standing to play dominos.

Am very disappointed with the care & support received.

My mother was very ill and we all thought she was passing away. Every member of staff from admin to housekeeping were amazingly supportive. My sisters and myself were offered to stay over if we wanted to. A day does not pass when at least one member of staff tells my mother how much they love her. She didn't pass and is now nearly always in bed, they take wonderful care of her, they really are very special people.

My mother has been a resident in Colinton since March 2012. She has been looked after very well with all her needs attended to with care and compassion. Over the 4 years the standard of care and home management have continually improved. All our requests have been responded to promptly and efficiently. My mother, although suffering from severe dementia, is more relaxed and less anxious than she has been in a long time. "Excellent care"

My mother has been cared for at Colinton for several years. She has been well looked after by the staff. They understand her desire for privacy and she is not pressed to take part in activities unless she wants to.

She has a lovely room which is kept very clean and has recently been refurbished. The staff have been very caring and supportive to relatives too and I always find someone welcoming me or cheering me up when dementia makes my mother seem difficult.

I have been so impressed by the level of care my gran has received. She was upset to be leaving her home of 60 years, but the staff have been so lovely and welcoming that she how considers Colinton her home. There are always activities and outings that she can participate in if she wishes, and family involvement is actively encouraged. I also didn't expect to see how involved the management are - they know all the residents and spend time listening to them and are involved in the events that take place. The only issue is that we (gran's family) often find other people's clothes in gran's room. The staff are patient, friendly and clearly enjoy their work. Thank you for your wonderful work!

All the staff at this home are exemplary - their standard of care in all areas is outstanding.
The cleanliness, standard of food, medical care are all outstanding.

The home is beautifully decorated. Messages are relayed in a timely manner between all the shifts and family members. We all felt dad had found another "family" in his year there. Dad never has a negative word to say about anyone.

My mum has been in the above care home for a year and she has excellent care in all her daily life. She has Alzheimers, is registered blind and is diabetic. Mum's care in the community before coming to Colinton was awful and she was nervous being alone so much. Now her meals are provided on time, her medication administered well and most important to her, she feels safe and well looked after. Colinton has excellent management and staff who actually care. These people need a medal for their commitment. We as a family feel mum is in safe hands.
