Balclutha is a very caring place. The staff are wonderful and always treat my frail father with love and respect.
Thank you so much for your kind words they are very much appreciated.
The level of medical care provided is exemplary and mum settled in immediately. All of the staff are friendly and accommodating. Organisationally Balclutha is very well run with clear communication, and a positive ethos abounds. I have absolutely no concerns and would have no hesitation in recommending Balclutha Court to others.
Thank you for your kind comments. We are so happy your Mum has settled at Balclutha Court and love having her with us.
I was amazed at the attention and care my Grandma got from the moment she arrived.
We as a family couldn't ask for a better place for my Grandma to be.
The staff are just like an extended family.
The care is second to none, rooms are clean and beautiful.
Nice to leave mum and know she is being well cared for.

I would highly recommend Balclutha. It's a lovely place and everyone is so friendly and nice, always lots to do and lovely gardens to sit out in. Loads of parties and lots going on.

My sister has been a resident at Balclutha Court for 7+ years. As her next of kin, I cannot praise management and staff enough for the care and assistance she receives within the home. Which gives me peace of mind knowing she is in a safe and friendly environment.
Thank you for your review. We love having your sister at Balclutha.
I have nothing but praise for the staff who looked after her during a very difficult time.
From the helpful office staff to the attentive nursing and care staff, not to mention the behind the scenes catering and household.
They made a very difficult time bearable and I would like to think pleasurable for my mum.
Special mention to activities and all the arts and crafts and days out that they organised.
Quite a home from home, everyone welcome including the dog!
Thank you for your lovely words. Your mum will be dearly missed by all at Balclutha Court.
They are all very caring people who have time for the residents.
They always have a smile and a helping hand when needed.
I don't worry about my mum when I'm not there as the staff are like family to her.
Her face lights up with a smile when they pop into her room to check on her.
I couldn't ask for better care for my mum.
Thank you for your lovely review and kind comments which I will feedback to the staff.
I have found Balclutha to be a most comfortable, safe and friendly environment for my aunt. She is being very well cared for by every member of staff and has mentioned to me how everyone is so nice and helpful to her. I am kept informed at all times about my aunt's care and if I have any concerns I just have to ask. All the staff are friendly, approachable and caring.
Thank you very much for your lovely review and kind words. We love having your Aunt at Balclutha Court and are so pleased you find the staff so caring and approachable.
We have lots of fun with the activities.
Thank you for your review. We are so glad that you enjoy the activities at Balclutha Court and are happy living here.
My experience in this home, to date, has been pleasant and heartwarming. The staff are really friendly and now feel like part of my family. Truly a home from home. I enjoy taking part in the various activities and find them both stimulating and amusing.
Thank you very much for your lovely review. We are so happy that you enjoy life at Balclutha Court and feel so much at home.
Mum has been resident in Balclutha Court for nearly 3 years. Mum's care provision is excellent, staff are caring, professional and myself and my family know that mum is happy and settled at Balclutha Court. Family/friends are always made to feel welcome when visiting Balclutha Court. Activities are well organised and it is wonderful to witness everyone having fun, joining in sing a longs, dancing and generally having fun. Thanks to all at Balclutha Court for looking after mum.
We never expected to get to know the staff, they were all like family. We cannot fault anything or anyone.
If anyone is thinking of having your loved one in Balclutha do not hesitate, they will be well cared for.
My Mum stayed at Balclutha Court for just under two years. She was very happy there and very well looked after, she felt completely at home. The staff are all so friendly and helpful to the residents and visitors and myself and other members of the family were so content knowing that Mum was so happy and well cared for there. She used to go on the outings regularly when she was able and thoroughly enjoyed them. I would recommend Balclutha Court to anyone looking for care for a relative as it is just incomparable in my eyes.
You can also go to the Manager and office staff about anything. The staff have also really supported me in staying independent - I attend a Tai Chi class every Monday. I would strongly recommend Balclutha Court to anyone who is needing care - it is a lovely place to live.
My sister-in-law has been a resident for just over a year and came from Aberdeen where she was born and bread. She has found it difficult to fit in but is well looked after and encouraged by the staff who all work very hard to cope with all levels of care. The rooms are comfortable and well furnished with some of the residents own bits and pieces allowed, carpets, curtains and bed linen all match, chairs are comfortable and everyone is encouraged to join in the activities which are all excellent. The management and staff are all helpful and I'm kept up to date with any problem that arises. The staff are caring and work hard to keep up standards. It's lovely welcoming home and I applaud all.
On arrival we were shown to her room and offered a cup of tea, the care staff then labelled all her clothes so that they didn't get lost or mixed up with others.
The manager of the home came to visit mum at home to find out small but important things about her likes and dislikes.
Since being in Balclutha my mum has been well cared for and really enjoys the weekly singing groups they bring in.
When visiting staff are always available to answer any questions and a cup of tea is always on offer.I am updated on a regular basis about how my mum is doing, this gives me confidence about mums care at the home.
My mother-in-law has been a resident at Balclutha Court for the last 4 1/2 years.
During this time we have been extremely happy with the care & devotion shown to her since the unfortunate onset of vascular dementia. She is now completely bed bound and needs constant care with all her daily needs. At no time have we ever had concerns over her general
or medical care, as the staff are very well trained and informative on both her general care and medical condition.
We are encouraged to visit her at any time, day or night and there is always a trained member of staff present to allay any fears.
Management are very approachable, compassionate and helpful with any questions we have. This attitude is very well reflected throughout the staff.
We have no hesitation in highly recommending this establishment.

Meet the Team (12)

Hi, my name is John, and I am the General Manager here at Balclutha Court Care Home.
I am a registered nurse by profession with over 38 years of experience working in the private care home sector, and I am very proud to be leading the team here at Four Hills.
I aim to provide person-centred care alongside the highest level of service possible to each and every one of our residents. Our team is focused on designing an individual life enrichment programme to ensure each resident has activities tailored to them and their individual interests.
Nutrition is an integral part of daily living. At Four Hills, our fully qualified chefs have developed a bespoke seasonal menu using fresh, locally sourced produce to ensure each resident has a well-balanced choice, whether at breakfast, lunch or supper.
I am extremely passionate in my job role and strive to ensure that my team work to the highest standards and shares my knowledge with them to ensure that all have a full understanding of what my expectations as the General Manager are to deliver exceptional and compassionate care to our residents.
Supporting, reassuring and communicating with residents and their loved ones is my highest priority and enriching our residents lives to the fullest.

Julie began her career here at Balclutha Court as a newly qualified Staff Nurse in 1995. She was promoted through the years, first becoming Sister, then Senior Sister and then finally becoming Deputy Manager. Julie is responsible for assisting the General Manager in the daily running of the home and is a great support to Alison. She is also the home trainer, providing and co-ordinating all the training for the staff.
Julie lives at home with her partner, daughter and her dog Benji, she met her partner within Balclutha Court a good number of years ago when he worked here as a Carer. Julie loves her family time, reading a good book, going walks with the dog and girlie days out with her daughter.

Rhona is the Administrator at the Home. She assists the manager with all aspects of the administration and finance within the home. Rhona started her career at Balclutha Court in 2000.
Rhona is married with two beautiful children, a boy and a girl - they often pop in to say hello to the residents and staff. Her family life keeps her extremely busy trying to balance work and kids activities. Rhona is a music fan and you often can’t get her off the karaoke. She also enjoys walking, reading and spending quality time with her friends and family.

Anne is part-time Admin Assistant, assisting the Administrator in the finance and the administration of the home. Anne started working at Balclutha Court in 1992 and since then she has become someone everyone knows and loves to speak to. She is always happy and bubbly, you will always find her this way. She can multitask, answer the phone, count money, solve a staff members problem and have a full conversation with a resident all at the same time!!! Anyone who visits the home always gets a kind word.
Anne has two daughters and four grandchildren, they play a huge part in her life and when she is not at work she keeps herself busy spending time with the children. Anne’s hobbies are shopping, especially for unusual jewellery (you always know what to get her for a present) and reading, she often tells us of the latest romance story that she has been reading. She also loves to dress up and join in with the activities in the home.

Jill is part-time Admin Assistant, assisting the Administrator in the finance and the administration of the home, she also covered when the Administrator was off on maternity leave. She has been with the home since 2004, starting when she was only a young girl of 18.
Jill was recently married and shared her big day with the residents, attending the home straight after the ceremony. Jill lives at home with her husband and her two cats Coco & Cosmo, who are very mischievous. She takes pride in her “wee” flat and is very house proud. Her hobbies include reading a good book, swimming, shopping and housework

After finishing school, Mark went to college to train as a chef and has since gained experience working in restaurants as well as other local care homes. He loves getting to know our residents, organising events and themed days, and is especially looking forward to running workshops alongside them.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending quality time with his wife and going on holidays both across the UK and abroad. His warmth, dedication, and creativity are already making a real difference here at Balclutha Court

Our activities team is made up of Karen Dillon, Magi Bell and Sharon McArthur. Between them, they ensure the residents are happy and have loads of fun.
They have a jam-packed weekly activities programme which includes excursions, tea parties, knitting bee, arts & crafts, Mega Scrabble, Carpet bowls, Domino and Jigsaw Clubs and much more. Every fortnight we have local entertainers who provide live music and we all party, having a dance and a wee tipple should it take your fancy. We also have movie afternoons showing on our big screen, and another favourite of our residents is our exercise class.
We are very keen to involve the residents in the decision-making within the home to enhance their experience. They take part in the residents' meetings, catering forums and assist the General Manager in interviewing new staff. The residents really enjoy this and take great pleasure in offering the right candidate the position.
Our aim at Balclutha Court is to ensure the residents are happy as they possibly can be and enjoy living within the home
