My mum is currently living at Cochrane Care Home, she loves it there and is very well looked after. The staff are amazing, they clearly all love their jobs because there is a lovely atmosphere around the place. We know when we are not with Mum she is well looked after and the staff go above and beyond. We can't thank them enough. They are also very supportive and caring towards the families. We just appreciate everything they all do.

Mum fell in her house and was in the hospital for six weeks. We knew she couldn't go home. Helped Dad choose a nearby home. Mum went from hospital to Cochrane Care Home during lockdown in September 2020. We could not visit either the hospital or the home.
Keeping in touch with Cochrane House, they gave us updates, Mum had settled in well.

The kind and caring staff has given Dad peace of mind, Mum is safe, happy and content.

My mother has had continual chest infections these past few months and as always the staff have been very much on "the ball" and have contacted the medical professionals very promptly. An ambulance has attended three times and she was admitted to hospital for an overnight stay. On the third occasion, they have also sourced antibiotics from GPs. We couldn't be happier or more grateful for the care and attention shown to her by all the staff in her almost thirteen-year stay.

Our brother has received excellent care since the day he arrived. Staff are very caring, professional and are sensitive to all his needs.

Hi Alison, as well as providing the best possible care, our team works very hard to get to know the individual needs and preferences of each of our residents. So, your comment really means a lot to us. Thanks again.

I wanted my wife to be looked after in a care home as she would be looked after at home. I think she gets that at Cochrane Care Home.

I cannot thank Cochrane House enough for the way they have cared for my mum. Especially during this terrible pandemic. She is coping really well not seeing family just now and it is all to do with the care she receives. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My wife has been in care now for just over a year. At first, I felt reluctant to let her go but I have every confidence she is being given the best possible care at Cochrane Care Home. The staff from the management onwards, are very alert to the performance of the staff who keep me informed regularly on my wife. I'm very pleased with the cleanliness and pleasantries of all the staff. The entertainment is also a big bonus, which is thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The first thing you notice is the friendly, homely atmosphere. My father was very happy here, and although suffering from dementia managed to communicate quite well with the wonderful staff and other residents. As a visiting family, we were always made to feel most welcome and we were happy to be involved in some of the activities. We shall continue to support the Cochrane Care Home in their fundraising for making our father's time there so comfortable. Many thanks to all the staff.

Mum has settled well and is generally happy and well cared for. The unit sometimes seems short staffed but this is not reflected in the care. Frequency of tea in the morning seems erratic and a bit cold when she gets it. The garden area could be better kept, furnishings in the rooms seem to differ. Perhaps more surfaces for family photos and personal belongings. Staff are lovely and very caring. One member of staff occasionally indiscreet when discussing mum in public areas.

The care my father received at Cochrane Care home was of the highest standard and we brought him back from the hospital to receive end of life care there. The staff treated him with the greatest love and dignity in his time there and were a wonderful support to the family throughout. It is easy to see the genuine care and compassion the staff have for the residents and they are true professionals at all times. I cannot recommend the care home and the staff highly enough - they were magnificent and my father was very happy and well cared for in his time there. Thank you.

Its the first time ever that we have had to use a care home for my husband. I've been blown away with Cochrane Care Home, not only are they taking care of my husband, who is very ill, they have looked after me and my family. We all go home after our visit with no worries, so happy with the nurses and carers and all the staff. Thank you.

My brother was in here for 4 years and was extremely well looked after. On visiting, we were always welcomed. Administration staff excellent. Great treatment of my brother from all care staff, especially in his last hours. The whole of the staff would sit with him, taking it in shifts. I have nothing but praise for this home.

Review from Sheena H (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 April 2019 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

My experience was an education! I can only speak for Tannahill Unit. Any time my mum had a problem or if I had a problem, no matter what it was about, I spoke to the manager or assistant manager and they resolved the problem. My mum was there for over three years and died recently, and I can only applaud the nurses, senior carers, carers etc for their kindness, compassion and empathy shown to my mum, not forgetting the kindness and support shown to myself and family. Forever grateful!

My mother stayed at the Cochrane Care Home as a temporary placement and during her 3 months stay, she settled in comfortably and was well looked after. Staff were excellent and always very attentive to my mother's needs. As a temporary setting, Cochrane served my mother admirably and I am sure if circumstances had been different, the family would not have had cause to move her.

Review from Doreen S (Daughter of Resident) published on 26 November 2018 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

Staff are friendly and try to deliver a high quality of care. However, I feel they are overstretched and can't always spend the correct amount of time with residents, especially those that need help with mobility and toileting. These residents need time which means if care staff are attending to them, other residents may have to wait a long time for their needs to be attended to. This, however, is a lack of staff issue and not a bad reflection on the staff already doing a good job.

Reply from Donna Neill, Home Manager at Cochrane Care Home

My brother arrived in the care home 8 th June 2018! I cannot express my gratitude and their loving care shown to my brother. He enjoyed his time, loved all the banter he had with the staff. Unfortunately, due to ill health, he passed away 19 th sept 2018! He was loved, and most all got first class attention, which I am very grateful to you all. Many thanks again.

Margaret thank you so much for taking the time to do this at such a difficult time for you all. Your brother was a real character and he will be missed by us all. It was a privilege to be able to care for him for his final days and we are happy that you felt his care was what you would have wanted it to be. I will pass your kind words onto the staff.
