I would like to say a great big thank you to all staff and carers of my mother. They have been extremely good at looking after her and the garden visits have been really good. Nothing is a bother too then, they keep my mum well looked after, clean and tidy. Can't rate them high enough; thanks to all.

Like everyone during the covid-19 pandemic, we have all had our worries and fears. It was a hard thing not to see my dad for over 4-months. It is hard to put into words how amazing it was to hear that Hillside View managed to remain covid-free. This is no doubt down to the brilliant care team and in
this world of negative news, well, I just want to shout from John O Groats to Lands End "thank you, everyone, at Hillside for going more than the extra mile to keep out loved ones safe".

I cannot rate Hillside highly enough. The level of care and attention shown to both my dad and my family has been fantastic. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff at Hillside and they welcomed us from the hour we walked in for our tour to my garden visit today. They have answered any questions
with an understanding and empathy that I have never seen in a care home. The affection and care in their voices whenever I call to check on my dad has been evident since the start, very comforting for us during Covid 19.

Up until my mothers death at the beginning of June, she had been a resident at Hillside since Jan 2019. She had always been treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Before lockdown in March, I had a very positive care review about mum. She enjoyed and was taking part in more activities and the wonderful
staff gently encouraged her to interact more with other residents. During lockdown I was able to receive photos and video calls - unfortunately, due to increasing frailty and decreasing oral intake and dementia, with a UTI, the manager allowed my brother and I to visit her during palliative care with PPE. I was there when she passed. The staff went above and beyond to give mum the best care right to the end.

My father is a resident at Hillside View and suffers from Alzheimer's. I am constantly delighted to arrive to visit and find him well turned out and contented. This I put down to the ethos of the home and the manageress who runs a wonderful team of carers. Both residents and visitors are treated with
concern and dignity.

This is just a few words to say that Hillside View Care Home is the best care home my wife and I have visited over the years. We were going to go to a local paper and put a letter in the paper regarding the home for its excellence, from staff to management. Second to none.
Thank you.

The staff are exceptional and the food is first class with a good choice of menu.
The domestic staff are excellent with cleaning and communication skills, upbeat and friendly (good job done as always). The entertainment coordinator has indeed the best skills for the job and she is always on the go
and organising and entertaining us all to a high standard.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.383)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.383) out of 10 for Hillside View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.694 for Hillside View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.694
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.689 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hillside View Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 57 registered maximum number of service users is 11.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.4 = 0.789
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
