Since I have been a daily visitor to this home since March 2018, I have been welcomed at the desk when signing in, always with a smiling face, same with all nursing staff, carers and management. There is always a fresh smell when you enter and the rooms are always clean and well aired. There is always some kind of entertainment. All in all, I don't have any complaints. They are always ready to answer any questions I may have always ready to help.

My mum is always cheerful and well dressed. All members of staff take time to chat and make her laugh. We are kept informed of mum's progress, how much she eats and drinks and if she is taking her medication. I fell she is always treated with dignity and well cared for. All staff and management are approachable and always act professionally.

My mum has been in Four Hills since January. Her health and general well being has improved greatly, she has company outside lots. Staff are fab and keep you up to date with things and are all so lovely. My mum is so happy there, always keep them occupied with stuff. Her room is nice and clean. I see a great improvement in her. I would highly recommend Four Hills.

Overall Experience

Dad was in Four Hills for almost a month with a terminal illness. Staff worked to make him feel at home and were universally kind. The home was spotlessly clean, warm and well ventilated. Rooms are small, which made it difficult for staff using equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers and toilet equipment. Food was excellent with plenty of choices, served in various locations or residents’ rooms according to their preference. I was not aware of any activities but dad receives a thoughtful gift from Santa. Staff provided excellent care for dad as he deteriorated, protecting him from falls and ensuring he was as comfortable as possible. The carers were always upbeat with a sense of humour, ensuring his dignity was preserved and nothing was a bother. Nurses were open and responsive to my queries and concerns. It was tricky contacting the off-site doctor for permission to alter treatment. Staff ensured I was supplied with tea and meals while sitting with Dad. A well-run home.

Mum received palliative care in the Firhill Unit from August 2017 until she passed away in November. During her stay, she was treated with nothing but love and kindness. At the slightest sign of any pain or discomfort, Mum was treated quickly and appropriately by the nursing team so that she was able to live out her final weeks in relative comfort.

The care staff made sure that Mum was clean and comfortable and also paid attention to her medical needs in addition to their normal duties. All staff treated Mum as an individual, and their warmth and humour made things so much easier to bear. Many of them went ‘above and beyond’ what we would have expected. As a family, we could not have got through Mum’s final days and hours without the support of all the staff. They provided reassurance and comfort, brought us food, gave us hugs and sent us home for rest when we were on our knees. When Mum passed away, she was treated with such dignity - we couldn’t have asked for more.

Four Hills is well administered as well as clean and tidy, both individual rooms and common areas.
The home is well staffed and the staff are skilled in all relevant areas, very competent and take a friendly and individual interest in all the residents.

Small events take place frequently and visitors are very welcome.

Dad's diabetes has been out of control for some months whilst in hospital. Four Hills nursing and care staff have made significant efforts to control his blood sugar by testing his blood up to six times a day adjusting his insulin as required and carefully receiving his food intake. He has other health problems which exacerbate diabetes and they have helped to manage and control his condition while dealing expertly and sympathetically with is other problems.

Staff are always on hand to give advice and help from maintenance, domestics, nurses, reception and management. This care home is well run and very welcoming to family and friends. They keep me (as the resident's daughter) well informed and up to date with my father's care and day to day.

My father was cared for in the Lambhill Unit by wonderful staff who not only looked after him but the whole family. Nothing was a bother and made us feel still very much part of his care. My dad loved the banter with the staff and had a wicked sense of humour which he maintained to the end. In the last few days of my dad's life the staff went about the business with compassion, care, understanding and were very unobtrusive when dealing with such a painful situation for family.
Sadly I was unable to be there with my dad at the end, my sisters were, as I live in Australia but never in his time there did the staff make me feel I was a nuisance when I called. The care he received was second to none and I would have no hesitation in recommending Fourhills to anyone looking for a care facility for their loved one. The staff made us feel they treated the residents like their own family, sadly something not every care home does.

Some areas looked tired but the care made up for that.

Our aunt was transferred from Glasgow Royal Infirmary to Four Hills for palliative care and she was very worried about "going into a home". When we visited her on her first day we were very impressed with the ambience and overall condition, appearance and feeling of the home. We cannot overstate the level of personal care and attention ALL of the carers in Firhill section provided to us personally as relatives and visitors, and more importantly the care that our aunt received during her short stay at Four Hills. The knowledge that everyone at Four Hills eased the passing of our beloved aunt made our experience considerably less anxious and more bearable.

MANY THANKS TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE FOUR HILLS TEAM.
