In my opinion, I am delighted with the care and assistance that Bupa staff provide my father. The staff are very thoughtful and considered with my father's needs and equally supportive with the rest of the family.

My mum has been in Wyndford Locks for 6 years in Kelvindale House. My mum's key carer is really good with her and all the staff go out of their way to make sure my mum is clean and tidy, well fed and looked after. It gives me great peace of mind knowing that my mum is in good safe hands.

Overall, I am very happy with the care and attention mum receives in this care home. It has been our first experience of this situation and I have to admit, I was apprehensive at the beginning but now 18 months later, all is well! Mum has her favourites but she enjoys the chat with every carer and the
nurses - even the agency nurses have been kind also. I have already recommended this unit to friends.

My mother has been here for 6 months now and the staff have been extremely caring, kind and helpful to my mother, my father and other members of the family. The staff are always smiling and chatting to patients. Only criticism is the toilet and floor in mums room could do with more cleaning.

My mum had Alzheimer's and was in Maryhill unit for 4 years. The care mum received was fantastic. She had more freedom and less frustration in the care home than at home. My mum had constant company when she wouldn't sit down to eat, the staff gave her finger foods. When she was bed bound the staff
would check on her often, literally attending to her every need. The staff showed my family nothing but professionalism, kindness and personal support. When mum was agitated, staff would come in and hold her hand, or stroke her face calming her. That kind of care goes above and beyond - staff frequently exceeded our expectations.
We knew mum was safe and genuinely cared for. They kept us informed throughout mum's time there and always treated mum with dignity. Towards the end is a difficult time, the staff were exceptional. Their knowledge, experience and compassion really helped us through. For us, the staff have been like mum's guardian angels when we couldn't always be there.

My father was allocated a space very short notice as my mother was unwell- he spent 4 weeks as a resident, receiving respite care. The staff were professional, friendly and very helpful, they made both my father and the rest of my family feel supported and were very caring. The experience was a positive
one, accommodation was clean, the food was good and my father was cared for.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.708)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.708) out of 10 for Wyndford Locks Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 48 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.708 for Wyndford Locks Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (420 Excellents x 5) + (116 Goods x 4) + (22 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 559 Ratings = 4.708
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wyndford Locks Care Home is based on 47 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 150 registered maximum number of service users is 30, which has been reached with 47 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
