Ashlea Court Care Home has gone above and beyond what I expected in regards to Gordon's care and assistance. Anne the care homes administrator, has particularly been a person of excellence. Anne has helped and guided myself and Gordon through a very challenging process of gaining residency in Ashlea
Court, she has been a constant help through the process of which myself and Gordon have found difficult. Gordon is delighted he has now become a resident.

I recently visited Ashley Court to see my Aunt. On entering, the welcome by a member of staff was cheery and she was so kind and chatty to my aunt as she brought her from the day room and helped her to her room. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We had an excellent visit and my aunt is clearly happy
in her beautiful surroundings. I myself cannot rate food and drink but I know my aunt really likes the food. On leaving I raised a query at the office about my aunt's hearing aid as it started to "whistle" during the visit. The staff there were lovely and engaging. Before we reached the front door, a young carer was dealing with it - no trouble at all. My husband and I noted the friendly atmosphere.
Reply from Jacqui Caldwell, Care Home Manager at Ashlea Court Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share your lovely experience of visiting your aunt at Ashlea Court. We're delighted to hear that you received such a warm welcome and that our team helped make the visit enjoyable for both you and your husband.
It's wonderful to know that your aunt is happy and enjoying her meals. We will be sure to pass this feedback on to our kitchen and care teams. We also appreciate you mentioning the cleanliness of the home and the positive atmosphere, as our staff work hard to maintain a comfortable and friendly environment for all our residents and their families.
Your kind words mean a great deal to us, and we look forward to welcoming you and your family back again soon.

My sister and I are absolutely delighted with the service provided at Ashlea Court. IT is a very welcoming place with lovely, friendly staff.
Mum is well cared for in all aspects of daily living.
The staff are very attentive to mum and encourage her to join in activities. The staff take the time to
chat to mum, which she loves.

My Mum was in Ashlea Court first, then when Dad became ill, we decided for him to be beside Mum. There is lots of activities and mum enjoys the bingo. I visit Mum and Dad every other day and they are presented well, Mum and Dads rooms are very clean. The staff are really nice in the Laverock Unit and
are always welcoming. They also encourage me to come for dinner with Mum and Dad. I can highly recommend Ashlea Court.

Most of the staff are excellent and go above and beyond their duty.
Mum was resident from February 2025. We had ongoing concerns about her mobility, and being left on her own for prolonged periods in the evening. My sister and I met with senior staff to discuss this and requested interim measures
while she was showing confusion and falling due to a UTI. Assurances were given (though conveniently not recalled!). That very evening mum was left alone in the lounge, using a table instead of her zimmer frame, wandered and fell over the table breaking her hip. Staff moved her onto a chair and then into her bed. No equipment was used.
Mum went to hospital returning to the home for end of life care.
Our neglect of care complaint was upheld but not made public!
On investigation care plans were incomplete (but staff had a strategy!) risk assessments were not reviewed.
Management were evasive - and delayed information requests for 2 months.
A £17000 refund is still outstanding 5 month later.
Reply from Jacqui Caldwell, Care Home Manager at Ashlea Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share your experience. We acknowledge the seriousness of the concerns regarding mobility support, supervision, and communication during your mother's stay. It is never our intention for any resident or family to feel let down, and we regret that our service did not meet your expectations at such a critical time. Following your complaint, we conducted a full investigation, we accept that there were learnings regarding care planning and risk assessment processes. We have since implemented additional measures to strengthen procedures and improve communication to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. Regarding the outstanding refund, we apologise for the delay. Please be assured that this will be prioritised, we will contact you directly to resolve this. If you would like to discuss this further, please reach out to me directly 01698887011. We remain committed to learning from this and providing the highest standard of care for all our residents.

When first enquiring about care for my mother, I was given a guided tour of Ashlea Court, staff were polite and professional, and I left fully informed about the service and care that could be provided. From my observation, I was satisfied that my mother's needs could be met by caring and professional
staff. The transition from hospital was well managed, and I was kept informed by the care home staff of her arrival and general health. Sadly, my mother passed 2 weeks later, peacefully, and with due dignity and respect. Staff looked after the family at this difficult time, showed compassion and explained everything clearly. I would not hesitate recommending Ashlea Court to family and friends.

Mum has been resident Ashlea Court care home for just over a year now. The care she has received has been excellent. This has proved a great comfort to our family. Staff attend to her hygiene and maintain her well presented appearance. All staff are very friendly but also professional. The care appears
personal. Group activities are great and varied. We are so thankful how well she's looked after.

Again, I am delighted to say that the whole staff team go above and beyond to care so well for our beloved Mum at Ashlea. Mum has now lived in Ashlea for almost 8 years. The staff know her well, and provide for all her needs with kindness and compassion. Staff communicate well with us as a family,
and keep us up to date. Mum now finds it hard to participate in any activities, but the music and dancing bring her joy and keep her singing.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone everyone.

From the first time seeing the home, both my sister and I knew this would be the right place for Mum. The staff showing us around and subsequently showing mum around were absolutely brilliant to her and us. Since she has moved into her room, she has been so well looked after. It has taken her a good
few weeks but she is definitely settling in more now. All the staff have been great and so friendly and she has been taking part in some of the activities. She loves the garden and would sit out all the time. She loves her room and has her own things around her. Overall we would highly recommend Ashlea Court.

My sister is well cared for and happy. Staff can't do enough to make sure everything possible is done for residents' care and well-being. My sister loves a good old laugh, and I can see this rapport with the staff and residents, and in communications and updates with myself. Food is plentiful, and plenty
of choices. Home is spotlessly clean, made welcome as soon as you come in, nice atmosphere, reception is always here with a friendly hello.

My mum recently had her room floor renewed, she was given new furniture, which we really appreciated. We ordered another set of drawers; however, the wrong colour was sent, when I discussed this with the staff they sorted this and gave my mum a new set to match the drawers. One of the staff worked hard
and tirelessly to swap those over for us.
I want to thank both staff for their support which help ease the stress to myself and my mum.
My mum loves staying in Ashlea Court, she loves all the staff, which makes our family happy.

My uncle is in this care home for respite, the staff are taking excellent care of him and his every need. He is happy there and this makes life better for my aunt as she was feeling really bad that she could not look after him at home. The staff treat my uncle like family and my aunt too when she visits.
A beautiful well kept building full of people who cannot help enough. My aunt is now happy to accept that my uncle is best staying at Ashlea Court on a permanent basis as both his and her needs and emotions are getting met. Well done every one at Ashlea you do a fantastic job

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.722)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.722) out of 10 for Ashlea Court Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 28 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.722 for Ashlea Court Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (264 Excellents x 5) + (44 Goods x 4) + (13 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 327 Ratings = 4.722
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Ashlea Court Care Home is based on 27 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 86 registered maximum number of service users is 17.2, which has been reached with 27 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
