With a team devoted to enriching the lives of their residents, Forefaulds, which is rated Good by the Care Inspectorate (October 2024), is a home with a warm, family feel.

One of Forefauld's two activities coordinators recently won the Newcomer of the Year Award in the National Care Awards 2023. Together they organise so many incredible group and individual activities for the residents.

There are trips to churches they have visited all their lives and pamper sessions with nail painting, trips out shopping and to the local park, Zumba, baking, pub lunches and so much more.

The community are embraced into life in the home, with a local Girls Brigade who sing for the residents, musicians and entertainers, and regular visits from nursery children. The local church also run regular services inside the home. And there are lots of animal visits, from a therapy dog to Shetland ponies!

Forefaulds also has a hair salon, so residents can enjoy regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser, as well as a wonderful community barber who gives the gents a trim and a shave.

The residents have an active role to play in how their home is run. This summer they have been growing their own fruit and vegetables in the home’s courtyard gardens.

The home’s maintenance operative devotes time to spend with some of the gents, who like to help him on his rounds or doing a spot of painting, as they would have done in their own homes before moving to Forefaulds, giving them such a sense of purpose.

Forefaulds has welcoming lounges to relax in, and the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked food in the dining rooms, with freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea, prepared by the two chefs.

The home has just opened its own café area, a lovely place to spend time with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. This area can also be used for families to host private celebrations.

My mum became a resident in forefaulds in August 25 ,there was a couple of wee teething problems at the beginning but since then she has settled in great. She has a much better quality of life than she did at home and we know she is safe there. The staff are great and she's encouraged to get involved
in activities she enjoys. My elderly dad visits twice a day and is made to feel welcome at all times, as are the rest of the family. Really can't fault the care she receives and we are kept informed every step of the way.

Our Mum has been a resident at Forefaulds for 2 years. The staff are approachable ,friendly, kind and caring .They have a good rapport with Mum and understand her needs. We are kept updated about any issues or changes. Mum greatly benefits from the variety of daily activities offered . Examples are
baking , gardening, mini golf , entertainers, therapets and crafting.. She has also enjoyed the regular outings for pub lunches and to the seaside in the home minibus Families are welcomed to join for events such as Mother's Day tea and quiz nights . This care facility is situated in an old adapted building but there is excellent maintenance and refurbishment programmes to ensure the residents safety and comfort.

Forefaulds Care Home is an excellent care home for elderly and dementia related residents. The Leadership Team, the Nursing Team and the Care Team are first class.

My Dad has been a resident at the home since mid October 2025, he has many needs and he has settled well. The staff have made a great

effort to integrate him seamlessly and understand him as an individual. I am amazed that in such a short time, the staff recognise me and associate me with my Dad, this really helps at visiting time and when I call for an update. Communication with the staff has been great and this is particularly reassuring when I can't make a visit.

I have seen individual acts of caring by the staff that really gives me comfort that my dad is being well looked after. The food and the variety of menu is quality and wholesome and my Dad is enjoying this aspect, weight gain after many years of the opposite.

My experience of the home is very positive and I would highly recommend to others.

Staff are very caring and respectful to every resident and they all work extremely hard. Dad has been a resident for approx 6 weeks and the family are kept fully updated on any concerns. All residents are treated with compassion, dignity and respect and their needs are looked after on an individual
basis which can be seen by the way the residents interact with the team at Forefaulds. The residents capable of joining in the activities seem to thoroughly enjoy themselves. Dad seems to be settling really well and developing a great relationship with all the care team

My mother-in-law was a resident of Forefaulds Care Home for 3 years prior to her passing on 29/7/24 Her life was full of activities and things to do. The care given to her was excellent and we were all treated with kindness and respect during that difficult time. She remained at the home as requested
and everything possible was done to ensure her comfort. We really appreciated this from the Manager and her staff. Thank you to all.

The staff are exceptional and they should be very proud of themselves and the care that they provide. Our dad needed more care than we were able to safely provide for him at home. He was very well looked after in Forefaulds. The staff care about their residents. They are well-trained, helpful and professional.
They were attentive to all residents and visitors also. Most importantly, when looking for a nursing home, the staff are incredibly caring and, for our family, it was very important to us that we could trust every member of staff to look after our dad in the way that we would have wanted to, had we been able to do so at home, Forefaulds provided us with that. We cannot thank them or praise them enough.

The staff here looked after my father in such a caring, respectful and understanding way. They were compassionate and treated my dad with dignity and respect, despite the fact that his stay was only 3 weeks, they really took the time to get to know him. Every single member of staff was approachable,
took time to speak with my dad and us. They suggested things we could do to make his stay as pleasant and homely as possible. While the building itself requires work, and the lack of a toilet facility within my dad's room was less than ideal, the care and support from all the staff members more than made up for any other fabric shortcomings the home has. Nothing was too much bother for any of the staff in the facility. From the laundry room to the manager, from the caretaker to the clean-up crew, from the tea hostesses and hosts to the nursing staff, from reception to the care support assistants - everyone took time to respond to requests and cared deeply for all in their care. Thanks.

Over the few weeks, my dad stayed in Forefaulds Care Home he was treated with genuine care, love and respect. There was a strong ethos of high-level care across the board in this care home, and this was consistently evident in every member of staff. There is a real sense of joy and a happy atmosphere
which really comes across. On a personal level, it was obvious that the staff knew my dad and his needs very well and provided targeted support as appropriate. They were always open to listening and working in partnership with us to ensure the best care possible for my dad. I am so grateful for all that the staff did for my dad while he was in their care.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.660)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.660) out of 10 for Forefaulds Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.735 for Forefaulds Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (155 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 200 Ratings = 4.735
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Forefaulds Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
