With a team devoted to enriching the lives of their residents, Forefaulds, which is rated Good by the Care Inspectorate (October 2024), is a home with a warm, family feel.

One of Forefauld's two activities coordinators recently won the Newcomer of the Year Award in the National Care Awards 2023. Together they organise so many incredible group and individual activities for the residents.

There are trips to churches they have visited all their lives and pamper sessions with nail painting, trips out shopping and to the local park, Zumba, baking, pub lunches and so much more.

The community are embraced into life in the home, with a local Girls Brigade who sing for the residents, musicians and entertainers, and regular visits from nursery children. The local church also run regular services inside the home. And there are lots of animal visits, from a therapy dog to Shetland ponies!

Forefaulds also has a hair salon, so residents can enjoy regular appointments with a mobile hairdresser, as well as a wonderful community barber who gives the gents a trim and a shave.

The residents have an active role to play in how their home is run. This summer they have been growing their own fruit and vegetables in the home’s courtyard gardens.

The home’s maintenance operative devotes time to spend with some of the gents, who like to help him on his rounds or doing a spot of painting, as they would have done in their own homes before moving to Forefaulds, giving them such a sense of purpose.

Forefaulds has welcoming lounges to relax in, and the residents enjoy delicious home-cooked food in the dining rooms, with freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea, prepared by the two chefs.

The home has just opened its own café area, a lovely place to spend time with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. This area can also be used for families to host private celebrations.

Over the last six months, I have noticed a vast improvement in all aspects of this care home. My mum's social skills and artistic side (which I never knew she had) have really improved.
New Management, permanent staff has been significant in this and would like to Thankyou each and everyone one of
you for caring for my mum, she feels safe which is the main thing.

It is visible that Forefaulds is trying to recruit staff in order to look after our loved ones. The home is dated but vast improvements have been made. The use of social media allows the family to keep updated on the activities within the home and gives us some reassurance that my wife is interacting
with others. (Something that was very much missing during lockdown).

Mum has been resident in Forefaulds for just over three years. We can’t thank the staff enough for their time, care and attention they give to mum. Everything from one to one time, group activities, social time, health and beauty experiences. Mum is so precious to us, so knowing that she’s in the best
hands is a blessing. Thank you, everyone.

This care home appears to be constantly having Covid which means I cannot visit my Mum. Now been told she has Covid which has come from a Carer! This is not acceptable and since Sanctuary has taken over the home has gone downhill and I will be posting on social media about my issues with them plus the
fact they only received three from the Care Quality Commission. They are reduced to agency nurses/carers who are not there long enough to get to know their loved ones. So to end my story they are a disgrace and I will certainly post any grievances I have ever had on social media.

Since July 2019 when my wife entered, I have no complaints either of the standard of care or the courtesy. Cooperation and support I have received from the administration to the care staff is good. I have found their conduct exemplary and I thank them.

Under normal conditions, this home is well run. It is difficult to comment when I am unable to visit due to Covid. I would recommend all the staff top to bottom for their hard work and dedication and look forward to seeing them and their smiling faces.

My mum went into the home in October after a bad fall. This was an extremely difficult decision and a heartbreaking one. However, the staff have shown her nothing but love and kindness and she is being well looked after. Covid restrictions make the situation very difficult at times but we are coping.
The staff deserve a medal for their dedication. My mum is eating better and taking part in activities which is encouraging. Hopefully, there will be light at the end of the tunnel with the vaccine and we can actually get in to see her. Thanks to everyone caring for her.

I am very happy with the care my mum receives. The staff are only too happy to assist with any of my requests. They have performed outstandingly during the pandemic. Taken the correct steps to ensure our loves ones are safe and cared for. The manager only took over before the pandemic and she appears
to have risen to the challenge.

It was a heartbreaking decision for my family when we had to put Mum into care, but from day one, the nurses and care staff at Forefaulds were sympathetic and supportive. When visiting Mum, we were comforted by how attentive and kind everyone was. Since this awful pandemic, we have been unable to visit,
but the staff have kept us well informed and reassured that Mum was healthy and happy. Now with the easing of lockdown, I have been able to visit and was impressed with the safety procedure put in place to protect her. My family and I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Forefaulds.

My mother with dementia has stayed at Forefaulds for over 4 years she has received the best of care while she has been there, the staff are brilliant with her they have got to know her well and know how to cater for her needs if there is any issues I have been informed by phone and appropriate action
taken and relayed back to me it’s a great comfort to know she is been looked after well she is also fed well with home-cooked beautiful meals which she loves by the resident chef who has been there a long time and is super friendly I would not hesitate to recommend Forefaulds enough.

My mum was a resident at Forefaulds for just over a year. Sadly she just passed at the end of September.
I can't thank the staff enough for the love and care given to my mum. From day one she was made welcome and nothing was a problem to make her happy and comfortable.
Whether a carer, a nurse,
a domestic or someone from the kitchens - all went out their way to help mum and to make us, her family, feel welcome.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home and its staff to anyone looking for somewhere homely and safe for a loved one.

My mother has been a resident for over three years. And I fully appreciate the continued excellent standard of care that she receives. All the staff members are very professional, whilst also having a nice friendly manner, giving Forefaulds a warm and welcoming feel. My mother's room is comfortable
and whilst she now spends more time in the lounge she still comments that she likes her room. The activities and entertainment are provided for those who wish to participate.

I would like to thank all the staff in Forefaulds care home, they all go above and beyond for the care of the residents. My dad was a resident at Forefaulds for a year and a half. After a bad experience at the first care home dad was in, the family were extremely wary and nervous when dad moved to Forefaulds. Our fears were soon forgotten and dad settled in very well. The staff were fantastic with dad and with all the
family. The care he received was second to none and the support given to the family was amazing and gave us real peace of mind. Staff and residents became our extended family and I would recommend Forefaulds to anyone who has to choose a care home for a member of their family.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.660)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.660) out of 10 for Forefaulds Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.735 for Forefaulds Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (155 Excellents x 5) + (37 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 200 Ratings = 4.735
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Forefaulds Care Home is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
