I feel like a member of the care home as we have used Whitehills for my father in law, mum and now dad. Some of the staff have looked after all three parents so I feel that must be happy there too. Even meeting staff outwith the care home they are very friendly. No mater what role the staff have they always have time to speak with the residents and know about their likes and dislikes which is great
We appreciate your trust in the Whitehills staff to care for your loved ones over the years. We enjoy chatting with families during their visits. Your feedback will be shared with the entire team.
I believe when paying for goods or services in Scotland, I'm entitled to withhold part payment to mark my dissatisfaction with the standard of service until it improves. I therefore informed WCH that on each visit, if something wasn't right, I would deduct £10 from my payments. (For example, dirty floors or tables, or windows being left open on cold nights with no heating on.) At no time did WCH object to this, accepting that things could be better and the new manageress has been trying to improve the situation. Unfortunately, some staff are letting her down.
It's now been intimated that unless I restore these amounts, the Office Of Public Guardianship will be approached with a view to revoking my Power Of Attorney as my mother would supposedly be 'at risk' if I do not pay up. So I'm being told I can't withhold part payments to stimulate improvement, under threat of all my mother's funds being appropriated by either WCH/Social Work Dept. Blackmail pure and simple.
I am sorry to hear you are frustrated with the level of service. I do want to point out that within Whitehills care home we are there to provide the upmost care to all our service users. Our finance team at the head office deal with all financial matters so unfortunately Whitehills cannot comment...
I live abroad and had to make sure my mum was in a safe, clean and homely environment and this is exactly where she is in Whitehills carehome. She is a difficult resident but is still looked after with care and patience regardless which I am so grateful for. I am kept up to date with any issues and can contact the home at any time if I have any concerns. The manager and her team have become friends to me over the past year and I feel they have looked after me too when times were difficult.the staff work tirelessly to keep everyone happy and safe, I don't how they do it, it's a big THANK YOU from me you are all appreciated x
Thank you for your very kind comments. We do look forward to your visits when you are back home. We have the utmost privilege of looking after your mum. I will be sure to share your comments with the team.
My husband was a resident in Whitehills Care Home for a very short period of time, but in that time I felt that he was well looked after, always clean & tidy. I, too, was treated very well and felt part of the care home family, although our time together was brief. I felt a rapport with the staff and got to know many of the other residents.
Thank you very much for your kind words HC. I will be sure to pass this onto the staff within Whitehills.
Can't thank the staff enough. They do an amazing job.
Thank you for your kind comments. I will be sure to pass these onto the team.
I previously left a review on this care home stating I was unhappy with the management, this was aimed at Thistle Health Ltd and not the actual Management who work there day to day. Since the new manager started she has done everything we asked to get the best possible care for our relative. We have no problems with her and will be sad to see her leave the care home.
Thank you for taking the time to update your review, we appreciate your feedback and I will pass on your comments to the wider team. Thank you again.
Mum was always clean and dressed when we visited and seemed to be comfortable and content.
Sadly we lost Mum last week after 5 years which is heartbreaking but the manager and all the staff have been so kind to us. It's so clear how much they care for their residents.
I would recommend Whitehills to anyone facing the difficult decision of putting a loved one into care.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was our privilege to have your mum with us for five years and we will always remember our 'Mrs E' with fond memories.
I can visit my dad at anytime during the day and have been in most days since he became a resident. The office staff, nurses, carers and all other staff are always very friendly and welcoming when you visit. I am always kept up to date with anything regarding my dad and the nurse is always advising me of any problems. I am very happy with the care and attention given to my dad since he arrived. I feel as if I actually have my proper dad back now as he is now a different person from what he was. He is now getting 24-hour care, getting washed and having three good meals a day. I am very happy with all the care and attention given to him and in his own words 'I am loving it here and everyone is so nice'. The staff all do a fantastic job and are worked very hard at times but are always happy.
All staff have been very welcoming to not only my papa but myself and my children. Any problems or requests are dealt with promptly and I am kept up to date with all information regarding the care of my papa. My papa is also very happy with the care he receives and has built some wonderful friendships with staff and residents since his arrival.
Thank you for your positive review, I am delighted to hear that both your papa and your family feel welcome and listened to in the home. I'll pass on your review to the rest of the team
My partner really likes the home and is a lot happier all staff are amazing and friendly and very helpful also the management are amazing they also keep you updated with what’s gapping in the home thanks to them my partner is happier now.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for Whitehills, I am glad that your partner is happy in the home and I will pass your kind comments onto the rest of the team
This care home has been very good at meeting my mother-in-law's quite complex needs. Communication has been excellent particularly updates when my mother-in-law has been unwell and had to see the doctor or go to hospital. Staff do an excellent job in spending time with residents and encouraging them to move as much as possible. My mother-in-law has been incredibly complimentary about the food which is great for us to hear. Rooms are always very clean and staff are always polite and friendly. Having a relative in a care home often causes a lot of anxiety but this has been reduced by the great staff at Whitehills.
Thank you for your lovely review, it is heartwarming to hear of your experience with Whitehills Care Home. I am glad that we have provided a great service for you all and appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. Thank you.
My aunt unfortunately was only in the home for a very short period of time but the staff before, during and after her stay were so helpful to us and explained everything clearly making the whole process so much easier than we thought. The nursing staff in particular were very attentive and made sure my aunt received the care she needed. I cannot fault anything about the home or the people there.
The staff took time to discuss him during our visits and making sure he was comfortable and settling into his new surroundings.
She has made friends thanks to the support of staff and her days are filled with concerts, hobbies, music and crafts. I myself have 40 years of working in various care settings via NHS and Local Government so I feel well equipped to judge what is a good establishment, ergo, I am compelled to give praise where I feel it’s due. This is one of few places that recognise the need for respite provision in order that carers can sustain the resident at home longer than if they had no help. Praise to the Matron and her staff as they have excellent attitudes towards the people who use this service, not an easy task and especially in the current situation we now find ourselves in with such poor service from NHS to support other care providers since the pandemic. High standards are difficult but Whitehills meet my expectations.
My father was a resident within Whitehills Care Home until he recently passed away. I cannot speak highly enough of all the social care and nursing staff. They provided a high level of support and care for him through a very difficult period of time and made him feel comfortable throughout. The staff also provided significant support for my extended family, who had to travel from elsewhere in the UK and made sure they were looked after whenever they visited. As a family we are happy my father spent his last days in such a caring place. Many thanks
I would visit on different days and times - no specific schedule. My aunt was always clean, dressed and well-presented. The home always looked and smelled clean. The staff always welcoming. My aunt was looked after really well and the staff engaged her with fondness and respect. At the end-of-life vigil, the staff were phenomenal, not just with my aunt but with the family sitting vigil. Thank you to all.
My mum recently passed away in Whitehills Care Home. During her stay there (just over three years). the staff couldn't have cared for her more. As a family, we will be eternally grateful for the love and attention shown during her time there. They were so respectful at the end too, ensuring she left with as much dignity as when she arrived.
My mum became a resident in January 2020 just as Covid was starting. The staff organised so much for the residents to participate in. They stopped the days being so long. My mum sadly passed away on the 17th of February 2023 and as she declined she was given so much care and respect from all the team. I cannot recommend highly enough.
The love, care and respect given to my aunt during her active time in the home but especially during the six days of her end of life. The support provided to her family is priceless.
We, as a family, cannot express our gratitude to the very hard work that the staff and management put in daily - fantastic teamwork. Thank you all.
