Overall Experience
My Dad became a resident at the beginning of lockdown. This was a very upsetting and stressful time for our family as we were unable to visit the care homes before making a choice. We chose Burnfoot after hearing positively about it, and the closeness to home.
Dad settled in straight away and seemed happy in his surroundings. It was difficult for us, to firstly accept a care home was the place he should be, we always thought he would come home after his stay in hospital. This was made easier by the care staff, who went above and beyond their remit, including using facetime to speak to my Dad and to actually see how happy he was. It is clear the staff know him really well, appreciate his sense of humour, even when he's being cheeky! Staff have organised visits for us in line with guidelines, this is important for us and we love to see him and listen to his stories.

He enjoys activities and has made friends. It is reassuring for us to know my Dad is settled, happy and safe.

My name is Tam Keller and it has been a privilege to work here at Burnfoot for the past five years.
Three years ago I was promoted to a senior carer and this has allowed me to pass on my knowledge and passion for the job to my peers.

It has always been one of my core beliefs that all service users should be treated with the same dignity and respect that you would expect a family member to be treated with. I also think it is a valuable trait to be available whenever your colleagues need support and empathy whenever they might need you.

The activities include one to one time, Karaoke, arts and crafts, gardening, bingo indoor bowels, golf, pamper sessions and when able we will enjoy shopping trips and outings again. My family are very important to me and i enjoying spending quality time with my husband and five children.
