Fullarton Care Home, situated in the lovely town centre of Irvine, supports older people to lead their best lives with personalised nursing and nursing dementia care.

Fullarton offers many comfortable areas for residents to relax, unwind and socialise. After undergoing a refurbishment in late 2021, the home had many communal areas modernised and decorated to enhance the daily life of every resident.

The catering team at Fullarton understands the nutritional needs of older people and creates delicious meals to ensure a lovely dining experience for all residents and visitors. The home also boasts a wide range of popular dining areas that provide a welcoming space to enjoy meals with fellow residents, or family and friends.

The dedicated and professional care team at Fullarton likes to learn about each resident’s hobbies and interests to design a comprehensive activity programme, supporting those living in the home to enjoy the things they love most. From building relationships with neighbours in local community groups and schools, to arranging sightseeing trips in the local area, at Fullarton, the team encourages residents to take an active role in the Irvine community.

From care assistants and nurses, to wellbeing coordinators and chefs, each and every member of the professional care team is there to assist you or your loved one in settling into the home. My mother was admitted at short notice due to her condition worsening at home. At first I was very anxious about mum going into care, however I need not have worried. The staff were fantastic at settling mum into a new environment and they made me feel part of the team, which was so important to me.
I can't fault the care and it is reassuring to find such caring staff. I have no concerns and no complaints.

My mother has been admitted recently in the last four weeks to Fullarton. We are delighted with the way that she has come on. She has started eating so much better and socialising also. The staff are so caring and friendly. Mum has already been on two outings which we are delighted about. The staff
deserve all the praise they can get. Well done!

My friend has been a resident of this home for the past two years. The staff are so caring and compassionate to the residents. No job is ever a bother to them. Sadly my friend no longer recognises me and can be quite restless at times. However, the staff know exactly how to manage him and they look
after him so well. It is worrying at times when you have to consider a loved one or a friend going into care, however, I have no hesitation in recommending Fullarton for the great care that they give. Thank you.

There has been an improved change at this care home since 'The Kind Care Company' took over, but some things still need to be improved. I think that there should be ongoing training for staff. Some carers are excellent, whereas others don't seem to be bothered to be understanding or patient. Also, kitchen
areas could be cleaner.

There is a complete disregard of care and compassion. I never see any interaction with the residents. My Mum is often in her room, sitting alone, no TV on. My Mum is very sociable and has dementia and with that does not fully understand the impact of isolation on her wellbeing. I was told it was her
choice!!!! My Mum does not have the capacity to understand the impact of that choice.
Isolation and loneliness were two of the main reasons we wanted my Mum to be in a homely, caring and friendly environment where she could be with people and feel safe, secure and welcome.
Personal items get lost, clothes and bags belonging to other people in my Mum’s room. Medication administered in full view of visitors, where is the dignity in that.
When we visit we do not feel welcome.
I would love to know where the residents' kitchen is, we could maybe have a cup of tea with Mum.

Everything is OK usually.
The only thing I do not agree with is not using antiseptic disinfectant spray or bleach or spray to make the rooms smell fresh.

Always have a lovely experience when I visit.
Most staff are very professional in their care, treating residents like they would treat their own family.
Plenty of activities led by a good team also enjoyed.
Cleanliness of room and bathroom very good.
Medicine also sorted.
Now less agency staff.
Would
love to see staff do less paperwork and take folks out for walks.

I visited eight care homes before placing my mother here. More than 3 years later I have had no doubts that I made the right decision. The carers deserve special praise for their good-natured dedication to their work. They are always prepared to have a positive interaction with residents. Housekeeping
maintenance, office and nursing staff are to be commended also for their cheery, outgoing nature.

My father came into the home for respite, but due to my mother falling ill has had to remain here, so I did not actually choose this home.
Although Dad's care at present is satisfactory it hasn't always been the case. Staff are pleasant enough and do their best to be helpful but it takes a few requests
for things to be done.

On arrival at the care home, no-one was available to let me in with the entry system. One of the residents was trying to use the radio to open the door. Staff were in nurses room. Lots of information given regarding changes being made to encourage interaction with residents. Person's room had a few
cups in bathroom, forgotten about. Staff friendly and approachable. Medieval/dental issues, doctors visits and dentist fitting for the lost dentures taking a very long time to organise. Could be detrimental to residential eating ability, socialisation and embarrassment. Positive action church, group and visits to other areas for tea, cakes and singsong.

What does ‘kindness’ mean to you?


‘Being empathetic, being present for those that require assistance, being compassionate, helpful, trustworthy and considerate.”


As a Registered Nurse, Charlotte has gained a wealth of experience in providing care and nursing support to elderly people, to enrich their lives. She is a knowledgeable and dedicated leader who is passionate about delivering the highest standards in care and quality of life for Residents.


Having worked at HC-One since 2004, Charlotte closely shares HC-One’s vision is aiming to provide the kindest care for each and every Resident. She extends this caring approach to her Colleagues and works closely with them to deliver care and support to Residents in a way that they gain the most benefit, in a warm and welcoming home.


When asked what she enjoys most about her role, Charlotte remarked:


“Being able to ensure that Residents receive the very best care”


Charlotte has also achieved much outside of work, she raised £2500 for Scottish Autism, running the Great North Run for her son Noah.
Outside of work Charlotte enjoys travelling, especially on her Florida holidays with her partner and 3 children.
