I visited eight care homes before placing my mother here. More than 3 years later I have had no doubts that I made the right decision. The carers deserve special praise for their good-natured dedication to their work. They are always prepared to have a positive interaction with residents. Housekeeping maintenance, office and nursing staff are to be commended also for their cheery, outgoing nature.

My father came into the home for respite, but due to my mother falling ill has had to remain here, so I did not actually choose this home.

Although Dad's care at present is satisfactory it hasn't always been the case. Staff are pleasant enough and do their best to be helpful but it takes a few requests for things to be done.

On arrival at the care home, no-one was available to let me in with the entry system. One of the residents was trying to use the radio to open the door. Staff were in nurses room. Lots of information given regarding changes being made to encourage interaction with residents. Person's room had a few cups in bathroom, forgotten about. Staff friendly and approachable. Medieval/dental issues, doctors visits and dentist fitting for the lost dentures taking a very long time to organise. Could be detrimental to residential eating ability, socialisation and embarrassment. Positive action church, group and visits to other areas for tea, cakes and singsong.

I would like a carer to be in the day room at all times, as one day I went in and my mother had vomit on her trousers.
