With stunning views over Magdalen Green and the iconic Tay Railway Bridge over the River Tay, Bridge View House is in a beautiful location. Providing residential, nursing, dementia and palliative care, the team also offer respite care breaks.

It's the dedication of the staff which make this home, which is rated 'Good' by the Care Inspectorate, stand out. Devoted to enriching the lives of their residents, they organise so many activities which bring them joy.

There are animal visits, with everything from rabbits and guinea pigs to ponies, weekly spa activities, with face masks and manicures and a pub quiz night. And every morning there is a gentle exercise class to get the day started!

The team take the residents out to places they love to visit, from the local railway restaurant and shopping trips to pub lunches.

And they are passionate about the residents having an active role to play in how their home is run, with resident ambassadors, who provide feedback to staff and welcome new residents and their families.

In the dining room, residents enjoy delicious home-cooked meals and freshly baked cakes for afternoon tea, prepared by a devoted chef who has been with the home for over 20 years.

The local community are embraced into life at Bridge View House, from local school children who sing for the residents, to toddlers from the nearby nursery who take part in activities. Every week a mobile hairdresser visits for appointments in the home’s hair salon, which also has a nail bar for a spot of pampering.

There are welcoming lounges to relax in with loved ones, who are welcome at any time. The main lounge has beautiful period features, including a bay window with stunning views across the river. Outside there is a garden room, where families can enjoy private celebrations. The home also has a private Facebook group for loved ones.

My mother has settled in Bridge View House and is enjoying the security, the warmth and caring of the staff, the delicious food and the support she receives. She is treated with dignity and values her privacy and ability to choose her lifestyle in her own home. Bridge View is a home from home.

My Dad moved into Bridge View House in February into one of the newly refurbished rooms with en-suite bathroom. The home is very clean and tidy with all laundry done on-site. There is a choice from the menu each day with home cooked food which is second to none. Improvements can clearly be seen under
the guidance of the new manager. The staff are all exceptional and all go the extra mile with their caring and friendly attitude to make Dad as happy and comfortable as possible. Dad says it is a great hotel!

Bridgeview House care home, facing Magdalen Green and the Tay Bridge approach in Dundee, is a pleasant place. It has been recently extended and redecorated and the public rooms and bedrooms are comfortable. The care and nursing staff are kind and competent, and I have no worries about leaving my unfortunate
wife Brenda, an Alzheimer's sufferer, in their hands. Certainly, she has not asked me, on any daily visit, to take her home!
Reply from Heather Allison, Home Manager at Bridge View House Care HomeTimothy, thank you so much for your feedback. As you've said, Bridge View House is in an enviable position and our residents can admire the views from our lovely gardens. We've invested recently in the refurbishment of our home and it's wonderful to read that you're wife is comfortable with us. We recruit our carers and nurses because of their kindness, enthusiasm and of course caring nature and have regular training and updates to their skillset. I will pass on your comments to the team and thank you again.

Looking for a care home that felt like home was important to mum, sisters and me. Bridge View House fitted that criteria since mum took up residency in January 2017 it has become obvious the right choice was made.
A new manager has recently taken up the post and already there are positive changes.
Resident and family meetings are held monthly. The staff are very pleasant and courteous when dealing with residents. The manager promotes families to approach her at any time with any concerns. Meals are nourishing and well prepared. Positive experience!
Reply from Heather Allison, Home Manager at Bridge View House Care HomeCarroll, thank you so much for your positive comments. We aim to provide a real home from home experience for our residents and feedback such as yours is important to us. At our resident and family meetings, we listen and implement (wherever possible) the suggestions and comments that are made. Our home-cooked food (no external caterers here) is enjoyed by all and we serve food that our residents enjoy and are used to. I will pass your comments onto the staff, as it is they who make living at Bridge View House a positive experience for all.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.734)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.734) out of 10 for Bridge View House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.784 for Bridge View House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (174 Excellents x 5) + (32 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 213 Ratings = 4.784
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bridge View House Care Home is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 registered maximum number of service users is 8.6, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
