My mother came in February 2022, after a major stroke. The care has been exceptional. My mother is always washed and her hair blow-dried by staff. The staff, two in particular and all the girls are fantastic at their job. One other staff member makes sure the inpatients have activities to do and special
days when family can attend. The rooms are kept clean and bedding is changed regularly. The nurses are always ready to answer any question.
Reply from Clair O'Connor, Acting Home Manager at Bramblewood Care HomeThank you so much. Your mum is one of our real characters, her one-liners are just unforgettable, she is great and a pleasure to care for.

My mum has been a resident at Bramblewood Care Home for two years. She transferred to Bramblewood following a sudden deterioration in her health. I appreciated how the staff and management listened to me and helped get her back out of bed and enjoying socialising (as best she can) with the other residents.
The love and care from the staff made this possible at a very difficult time due to Covid. The staff are attentive and kind to the residents. A lot of effort goes into celebrating all occasions and the inclusion of both families and the residents. I am very happy and content leaving the care of my mum with the management and staff of Bramblewood, I am very grateful. Thank you.
Reply from Clair O'Connor, Home Manager at Bramblewood Care HomeCarol, we all loved your mum like she was one of our own. She was so lovely. Her wee voice and her little quirks were adorable.
I am glad we cared for you well too and all the staff will appreciate the fact they have been able to do a good job.
Thank you,
Clair.

My aunt, for whom I am next of kin, is presently 97 years old and has been in Bramblewood since January 2020. She has severe dementia and requires constant care. We have always been very content with all aspects of her care. The staff know her well and are very caring towards her. She is always clean,
neat and appropriately dressed. We find the staff friendly and helpful and are kept well informed at all times. We have no hesitation in recommending Bramblewood to any family.
Reply from Clair O'Connor, Home Manager at Bramblewood Care HomeThank you, Eric, for your lovely comments, much appreciated by all of us here. Hard to believe it has been 3 years since your aunt was admitted and as you say staff have got to know her and you well. I am glad her care is to your expectations and also that your experience and care for yourself has been good. Regards.

My mum has only been at Bramblewood for two weeks. The staff are amazing, they are very patient, caring and professional. They leave me knowing my mum is in safe hands, during this very stressful time my family are going through. I can't thank them enough.

My mum moved into the care home in November 2021. I found the home’s standard of care for my mum and the visiting family, to be excellent. My mum was always treated with respect and dignity. Whilst no one wants to move their loved ones into a home, Mum was very happy there and asked me frequently ‘how
did you find this place?’ She liked the meals served (a choice was provided) and put weight on whilst she was there having regular and home-cooked meals. Knowing that my mum felt safe, was well looked after, gave me and my family great reassurance. I’d fully recommend this care home.
Reply from Clair O'Connor, Acting Home Manager at Bramblewood Care HomeThank you, Carol, for your lovely kind words. Your Mum was a pleasure to care for. She had a great sense of humour and always a bit of craic.
It was like I said, a pleasure to care for her.

My mum moved into Bramblewood in October 2021 from another excellent care home because she needs nursing care. I was very worried about her making such a big change, but need not have been. The staff are exceptionally kind and dedicated. They pride themselves on being like a big family and have given
my mum (and me) a very warm welcome. I've seen firsthand the kindness, warmth and affection shown to the residents and feel confident that my mum is truly well cared for.
Reply from Gavin Kelly, Director at Bramblewood Care HomeMany thanks for taking the time to place a review of Bramblewood. It can be daunting moving care homes and we are delighted that this experience for both your mum and you was a positive one. We are lucky to have a great team in Bramblewood and they will be delighted to read your kind words.

My father moved to Bramblewood from another nursing home at the beginning of 2021. Unfortunately, my father was only with Bramblewood for a short time, as he passed away, so I did not have the pleasure of getting to know all the staff a lot better. However, from my initial point of contact with the
manager, it was evident that the staff treated their residents with kindness and respect in a friendly, happy, homely environment. I would like to pay particular thanks to the deputy manager and the nurse who were a great support to me at the end of his life. They showed such care and sympathy and I will never forget this.
Thank you to all the staff - you all are a professional, dedicated and caring team.
Reply from Clair O'Connor, Home Manager at Bramblewood Care HomeHello Joanne,
We all hope you are keeping well. We would also have loved to get to know you all more. It was a pleasure to provide care for your dad and I am glad it was a positive experience for you in Bramblewood even though short.

My mother has been in Bramblewood for three years now and is extremely well looked after. All the staff are professional, friendly and really care about all the residents. The staff have made a tremendous effort during lockdown, not only to keep everyone safe, but to have activities on to keep residents
occupied - was great to see all the fun my mother was having in December. I would highly recommend Bramblewood to anyone.

Very caring staff who are genuinely interested and concerned about residents' wellbeing.
I feel reassured that my father is receiving excellent quality medical and residential care 24/7.
Staff feedback on how Dad is getting on, especially when there have been changes in his needs.
If I have questions
or concerns, management have a lovely, approachable manner and have been so understanding, helpful and kind.
They have done, and are doing, an incredible job in such challenging times and it is very much appreciated by my family.

My mother was assigned to Bramblewood to meet her care needs during the COVID lockdown. She had been admitted to hospital following multiple falls and, at 94, was judged unsafe to continue living alone at home.
We see her regularly but have been unable to go inside due to the lockdown prohibition
of all visitors. For this reason I am only able to estimate the options below.
I'm delighted to say that the positive change in my mother's physical appearance and mood since she entered Bramblewood has been nothing short of remarkable. She is like a different person and seems to have settled in remarkably well for someone who is fiercely independent. I find the staff I've met to be friendly and caring and would like to thank the manager, her nursing colleagues and her ever cheerful and helpful care worker.
Reply from Clair O'Connor, Home Manager at Bramblewood Care HomeThank you, George, for such a positive review of our care. It is unfortunate your mum has come in at this time and you are unable to visit in person but the fact you see such a change even visiting from outside is wonderful to hear. It is in cases like this when we as carers see such a marked difference, for the better, in residents we care for that it makes our role so worthwhile and rewarding. Many thanks and hopefully you can visit personally in the near future. Take care.

I could not rate Bramblewood Care Home highly enough, the staff are very professional at all times and have delivered excellent care to their residents through this very difficult and uncertain time. They could not have done anymore to help my mother-in-law settle into life in her new surroundings and
made her feel at home instantly. It was so important and reassuring to know that she was happy and being well cared for. They are always willing to go that extra mile for their residents and are excellent in keeping families updated.
It is not easy for any family when their loved one has to leave their home and go into nursing care, but the staff at Bramblewood have made this transition so much easier for us all and especially my mother-in-law. I would not hesitate to recommend Bramblewood Care Home to any family.
Reply from Gavin Kelly, Director at Bramblewood Care HomeMany thanks for your lovely review. My Granny is well cared for in the home and during the COVID-19 crisis, the care home have been exemplary in their care of all users.
They have maintained extremely high standards of care and cleanliness throughout.
Furthermore, they have kept in regular contact with family members and used social
media to share photographs and regular updates of the excellent activities and entertainment offered to residents.
The staff consistently display caring and nurturing attitudes toward not only their residents but also their families.

My parents are both cared for in Bramblewood for 3 years. I can only say it was a difficult decision at the beginning and one I did not take lightly. However 3 years on my parents are settled relaxed and so well cared for. They have both put on weight and my mum especially enjoys activities. It has
given the family peace of mind that they are comfortable and happy. During the lockdown it was lovely to be able to visit at a distance either through the window or the newly developed pod.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.797)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.797) out of 10 for Bramblewood Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 20 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.797 for Bramblewood Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (195 Excellents x 5) + (34 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 236 Ratings = 4.797
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bramblewood Care Home is based on 20 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 20 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
