Staff are wonderful, caring, kind & considerate in my opinion they are grossly underpaid.
Rose unit needs a refurb, everything is looking tired, outside is a mess, full of weeds, long grass, dead plants, needs an overhall and deffo a hosepipe. Garden furniture needs replacing.
The mattress in Dads room is cheap and uncomfortable and for fees of almost £6000 pm I expect better.
Since the activities co-ordinator left there is nothing happening to keep minds active/entertained. The whole place needs air con

Its going downhill. The powers that be need to spend some funds

My wife and I visited a couple of married friends both in residential care at Newfield Lodge. Having worked for the Council Social Services as a visiting officer prior to retirement I visited numerous care homes in the Wakefield district and can say without a shadow of doubt this is one of the nicest homes and possibly the best I've had the pleasure to visit. All the staff we encountered were professional and very friendly. As we were leaving we spoke to who appeared to be the manager and complimented her on the staff and quality of the home. She took time out to show us another area of the home which has recently been refurbished.

My dad has been a resident for nearly two years now and his overall care has been good. The entertainment is good, the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. Most staff are lovely, but there are a few I question have the right training and understanding of dementia. We have had a few meeting due to my dad's care needs not been met but these have always been resolved. My concern atm the lack of staff which is making the units un safe and wearing the staff down. This isn't helped by them having no manager for a month and one not starting for another month. I feel if they up staffing levels and get some management guidance, this home could be one of the best.

Moving my father to Newfield Lodge was the best decision we have ever made, he was already in another care home at the time so we were nervous to disrupt him, but from the first day there it was obvious to see that Dad was so much happier. The building, the rooms and all facilities are all maintained to a very high standard with a really welcoming atmosphere. The staff there are truly amazing too, they all have a genuine caring and loving attitude and it really does shine through for all to see.
Dad is now 94 and I can rest assured that he is being taken care of to the highest possible standard.
Thank you to everyone at Newfield Lodge.

Christine

Generally Newfield Lodge is fine, however our friend doesn't always get mid morning and evening drinks. These are vital for elderly (he is 95 years) people as urinary infections can develop if not enough fluid is taken. Someone should be at the reception desk on a weekend as sometimes it can take up to 10 mins to be admitted. What if it was an emergency.

Reply from Julie Caygill, Hospital Liaison Team Administrator at Newfield Lodge

Thank you for your review, we value all feedback as this helps us to improve our service where required. We are sorry to hear your friend has not always received their mid-morning and evening drinks. We are reviewing our hydration checks to ensure this does not happen again; maintaining hydration...

My mum was recently admitted to NL in January following a protracted hip operation. Althought only been a resident for a short while, all the staff have been very helpful and caring. There have been a few issues due to mum's dementia, and is an evolving situation regarding her care and developing a relationship with staff and my mum. Her needs are changing, but I am confident so far that best outcomes will happen. All staff are readily available to speak with.

My Mum has been a resident here for almost a year. She was warmly welcomed into Newfield and instantly became a much happier person. The level of care kindness and support is absolutely excellent.

A beautiful care home with excellent food, and activities, a real luxury home, beautiful rooms with a homely feel. Nothing is too much trouble for the excellent staff and they are the most friendly passionate and helpful not just with the residents but with family members too. My Mum is happy, comfortable and safe here. A huge credit to all at Newfield. Thank you.

My Mother has been in the dementia section of Newfield Lodge now for 20 months. My sister and I are very pleased with the care that she receives. The whole building us always kept very well decorated and perfectly clean. They have entertainment every day. Singers, games, etc. My Mother has her hair done every week in the on-site salon. All the staff are very friendly and caring towards the residents. In the main area, there is a lounge section with bay windows for looking outside with comfy seats. Then a dinning and TV area. We are very pleased with my mother's care and would definitely recommend Newfield Lodge Care Home.

1st February 2024 Ma was admitted straight from the hospital after a 2-week stay due to a fall and watering. My sister and I had looked after her for quite a while - but started to struggle when she wouldn't eat. She arrived at Newfield to a wonderful welcome! We've had ups and downs due to how cruel Alzheimers can be. But Mum is healthier and happier and due to food and snacks eats so much better. We couldn't wish for more! We now spend quality time with her and let the wonderful staff look after the care. The activities are exceptional!

Newfield isn't like a care home and my Mum for a while thought she was in a hotel. I asked her what she thought of living here: She said I can't fault it.

My Mother-in-law moved into Newfield almost a year ago. Was not sure if she would be happy there, or if we would be happy with her being there, but as she needed 24-hour care it was the best option.
The staff are very caring and her health has improved due to her being cared for.
The atmosphere in Newfield is great with lots going on that has made her feel at home.
She has a lovely room and a nice view.

It's nice to know that when you leave her she is being well looked after.

I am pleased with the home except for the top up fees as I think they are too expensive as my wife doesn't drink alcohol and her choice is to stay in her room.

The second thing is weekend access, no one on the door, and can take up to 5 minutes to get in.

My mum has been here 8 months now, she has settled well. Staff are attentive and approachable. Always clean in areas and carpets washed regularly in the day room. Activities on for residents each day, with plenty of singers attending. Feel that Mum is safe and well looked after and that I don't need to worry about her. Would recommend Newfield Lodge to anyone needing a care home. Family members who have visited say it's the cleanest home they've ever visited.
