Overall Experience

My mother is very very happy at Coombe. She has made a whole new circle of friends and has many new interests since she moved there more than a year ago. She loves the staff and I am so pleased to know she is safe and well looked after. Following a recent hospital procedure my mother could not have expected more concern and care whilst she was recovering. A great place to live she says.

I trained at The Nightingale School of Nursing at St Thomas’s Hospital, gaining the coveted Nightingale Badge. Much of my career has been spent in hospitals, where I specialised in trauma and orthopaedics before moving into management. This culminated in my role as Director of Clinical Services, where I oversaw all clinical areas within the hospital.

About 15 years ago, I wanted to move into social care in order to really get to know those in our care and their families. I joined a nursing home in Guildford as Deputy Manager and progressed to become General Manager. During this time, the home was taken over by Signature and became part of the Signature family.

I have also undertaken a couple of regional roles within social care. Through these experiences, I realised that the role I love most is that of a Home Manager. For me, it is incredibly rewarding to learn and understand the needs of everyone within our home, ensuring that goals are achieved, questions are answered, and everyone feels heard and valued.

I am firmly committed to Coombe Hill Manor and to those who live and work here. As a team, we strive to achieve the best, and more, for all our residents, constantly looking at where we can make a difference and make someone smile. It is a privilege to be able to make a positive difference to our residents, their families, and our staff.

As Client Liaison Manager, I am your first point of contact when you make an initial enquiry. I am committed to handling your enquiry with care and integrity, supporting you and any loved ones throughout the process, from initial viewing to move-in, and offering my full support, trust and guidance, as well as a listening ear. Having spent most of my career working within the banking and finance sector, my years working in social care have been very enlightening for me. I have learnt so much about elderly care and continue to learn something new each day. I have also had the honour of meeting some wonderful people and it has been a privilege to be part of their personal journey. I can truly say that this is the best job in the world, where each day brings a new challenge and experience.

I have over 16 years of experience delivering advanced medical and surgical nursing across both the NHS and private sector. Throughout my career, I have held senior leadership roles including Director of Nursing, Clinical Director and Band 8a Senior Nurse, with extensive training in critical care and high dependency settings. I completed my pre and post-graduate studies at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery, King’s College London, including an MSc in Gastrointestinal Nursing, and trained as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at City, University of London.

I am deeply passionate about my profession and committed to creating a positive, compassionate experience for our residents and their families. In my role as Clinical Services Manager at Signature, I play a key part in upholding and enhancing the ethos of the home, while supporting and developing our team to deliver the very highest standards of care.

Sonia Roberts
Sonia RobertsJob Title Residential Care Manager

I started my career in care after graduating from university in 2018, and I became a carer whilst figuring out what I wanted to do long term, but after a few weeks, I knew I wanted to progress my career in the care sector. Shortly after this, I became a Care and Training Practitioner, progressing to Care Coordinator and then became a Registered Branch Manager with the CQC in a span of 3 years in domiciliary care in Wimbledon. I absolutely loved making a difference to people’s lives every day in their homes, but I wanted to expand my knowledge and experience within the care home sector. Since the moment I walked into Coombe Hill Manor, I was greeted by smiles and warmth from team members and our residents. Truly, the residents are at the heart of everything here, and the team really care about making Coombe Hill a lovely place to live.

Tess Mouland

I fell in love with hospitality when I first set foot behind a bar 20 years ago and felt compelled to pursue a career in the industry. I graduated from the University of Surrey in 2009 with a BSc in International Hospitality Management and spent the early years of my career working in hotels and events. Out of sheer curiosity, I joined Signature in 2012 to explore what hospitality could look like within the care sector, and I quickly felt I had found my calling. Blending five-star hotel service with such an exceptionally high standard of residential and nursing care has been an exciting and rewarding challenge for over 10 years now. The greatest reward in what I do is having the opportunity to make people feel special. To do this for the residents and team members within Signature Homes is a privilege that I hold very close to my heart.

I came into the UK in August 2012, previously working in Denmark, where I had been self-employed since 2000, specialising in painting, decorating, and landscaping. Once in the UK, I began working as a Maintenance Assistant at Buxton Lodge -Care UK until 2014, before moving to Destafford School in Purley as a Senior Site Assistant. In 2016, I progressed to a Maintenance Manager role where I worked with Greensleeves Care. In 2019, I started my career as Maintenance Manager with Signature at Coombe Hill Manor. I am passionate about my work and take great pride in creating a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents. I value the time spent interacting with residents and enjoy contributing to the smooth running of the home.
